After being a car salesperson and hating it, cars don't excite me
lol its not all porn
I sold cars for a little bit too . What Make of model of dealership did you work for ?
good morning, bored here for another 5 or less hours depending on how fast i finish my job ~_~ but its lunch time! gonna bust out mah psp and riviera :D
Whitey, your sig blows goats. At least fix the grammar and spelling mistakes, good god.
hmm dollar is the only thing spelled wrong .
Ok fixed gentlemen for you and not capped and not spaced lol
I worked at a ford place for a little while, then a lincoln mercury place for 2 weeks before i quit and started where i'm at now.
i'm 1 test away from being master certified for all three makes. Not saying it's an accomplishment, i'm just saying i hated the job so much i spent all day studying the cars and taking tests.
you?
I work for Nissan we had draws witch kinda sucked 300 a week yeah but once you sold a car you owe them money lol .
Yeah it really blew.
When i first started at the ford place I sold 2 cars in my first three day's, shoulda been a nice 1200's just on those two deals. But, since the accounting department sucked ass and took forever to process deals I had to take a draw check for 2 weeks, during which i only sold one more car.
By the time they processed that deal, I was like 1100 bucks in the bucket cause my weekly draws were coming to about 450 a week doing like 70 hours. So I didn't even see a penny of that money, all went back to the dealership.
The only positive thing I got out of working at a car dealership, is knowledge of what to look for when buying a car so I don't get screwed.
And the bottom line is, EVERYONE gets screwed, even people who think they got a good deal. Chances are they didn't negotiate for things like the dealership prep fee which all said is like 600-1400 bucks they don't even know about. You could buy a car at 500 bucks under the invoice and if you don't know about other stuff the dealership still made 1k profit off you.
It's ridiculous, i just felt dirty every day when I went home. Your main goal as a car salesman is to see how much you can screw someone and put them into debt.
My GSM used to tell us in our 'morning prep meetings' that we need to find a way to make these saps pay our bills. Disgusting line of work.
After working there I had an idea to start a company that assists people in buying their cars, and they pay me a % of the money that I save them off the sticker price. Like 10-15% or something, so If i save you 3k off the sticker price, you pay me 300 bucks or something. Could set up appointments and do like 2 or 3 a day, make some loot.
I agree with you completly on this
My first car i sold, Nissan Sentra 2006 the lady i was selling it to had a car she owed $12,000 on still, Well she still wanted to make the deal even though i mentioned to her that it would be roled over to the new one.
Me and my GSM sat down and worked the figures out, She ended up paying $547.00 dollars for a $15,000 dollar car. I felt like a complete jack ass and i only made maybe 200 bucks off the deal.
We made most of our money off the used car's, i think i made $2,000 off one, was a BMW 2000 noone wanted it and i got some guy to buy it was a peice of junk belonged in a scrap yard.
Another day...more boredom ensues.
i'm so ready to quit this job and going back to retail as management or something ~_~ data entry for 8 hours is the most boring shit alive, at least i can go on bg.
Yeah, our used car manager used to say 'switch to get rich'
show someone a new car, then switch them to a used of the same type but maybe a year or two old. it's like 3 or 4 grand cheaper than the new, but is marked up about 8000 bucks. Someone things they are getting a good deal, and get's raped in the ass.
Wait...its 3-4k cheaper but marked up 8k?

I know ford the most so i'll use that as my example, and they like to mark up their vehicles.
Let's say a brand new 2007 f-150 xlt 4x4 is 35,000 new. Which at my store was the case. Brand new the mark-up is probably about 4 thousand at least, so they own the vehicle for 31,000 and will sell it to you for whatever you agree to above that.
Now let's say also on the lot is a pretty good condition 2006 f-150 xlt 4x4 which when it was brand new was also 35,000. However, since it's pre-owned and the dealership sucks, when the guy traded it in, they only gave him 22,000 for it. However, they put a sticker on it saying that they are going to sell it for 29,999 and when your salesman shows it to you he's going to say that it's practically brand new, only X number of miles and you're getting it for 5 thousand dollars less than a new one would cost.
Sounds great right? Get a vehicle that's mostly new for 5k less than a new one, but wait, they actually own it for 22,000 so even if you negotiate it down a couple thousand to say 27,000 even, they still just ass raped you for more than they'd have gotten selling you a new one.
99% of the people that buy a car get ripped off. about 50% of those think they got a good deal and anyone else will usually just break and buy the vehicle cause they just don't want to 'play the game' with the salesperson/manager.
There is a reason that there is a stigma associated with car salesman, and it's all true.
Also like to add at 29,000 your still almost paying the same with taxes ect.
Warranty is costly as well.
Put it this way that BMW i sold, was Red and a 2000, Had about 106,000 miles on it. The car was only about 20,000 brand new maybe 25,000 . We had it stickered at 17,000. The tire never stayed inflated, had to jump it each morning (lol) so by the time they got to relise it was to late . Hey i made 3 grand off it why would i complain. Thats why we feel like dirt.
After all the things us car salesmen add were basicly bending you over and raping your pockets without you knowing were doing it.
I should write a guide to buying a car.
There is so much that people just don't have a clue about when buying a car, about how they manipulate the numbers to make you think you're getting a good deal when they really haven't changed anything, hidden fees that aren't necessary, extended warranties etc...
There is so much that people need to know about buying a car!
