@ Angelsin: Just to run it back to the PS2 limitations, it's a mix of actual HDD space (they have to always take this into consideration, if they wish to keep PS2 on PAR with PC and XBOX, with new expansions and content-- which is looming around 7-9ish GB taken up out of 20GB HDD), and the actual memory of the PS2; the reason why we have Mog Houses and NPC set storages in the first place.

The main premise is this: I'm sure SE could put in more hair styles and models, but like they said, they'd have to go back and fit them to every single armor set, something that will consume time (and memory) away from completing ToAU/working on WotG.

    Re: RPGFAN WOTG Interview

How many new areas did ToAU have? Off the top of my head, I can think of:

Whitegate, Al Zahbi, alzadaal, nyzul, arrapago rem, silver sea rem, bhaflau rem, zhayolm rem, mount zhayolm, caedarva mire, bhaflau thickets, wajaom woodlands, halvung, nashmau, arrapago reef, navukgo, hazhalm, jade sepulcher, talacca, mamook, 5 assault areas, boat to nashmau, boat to whitegate. That's 27 areas. If WoG is only gonna have 30, that's a bit disappointing IMO, because for me personally ToAU feels kind of small.

And to everyone saying PS2 limitations are BS, jesus stfu already. It's been what 2 years now? If all you want to do is show you have no idea what the hell you're talking about, just say something like the sky is fluorescent pink.

    Let's break down ToAU's areas:

    Towns:
    -Whitegate
    -Al Zahbi
    -Nashmau
-The Colloseum (I think the non-pit area is going to function like a town)

    Fields:
    -Bhaflau Thickets
    -Wajaom
    -Mount Zhayolm
    -Caedarva

    Dungeons:
    -Mamook
    -Halvung
    -Arrapago Reef
    -Aydeewa

    Battlefield areas:
    -Jade Sepulcher
    -Navukgo
    -Talacca
-Hazhalm Testing Grounds (technically it's 10 "Einherjar areas", but I see it more as a battlefield with 10 battles)

Assault areas: (essentially "larger, more involving battlefields")
    -Leuwhatever
    -Mamool Ja Training Grounds
    -Lebros Cavern
    -Ilrusi Atoll
    -Periqia
-Nyzul Isle (more like a dungeon)
-Ashu Talif (more like a traditional battlefield)

Salvage areas: (essentially "dungeons you can only enter so often" that activate Assault effects)
    -Arrapago Remnants
    -Zhayolm Remnants
    -Bhaflau Remnants
    -Silver Sea Remnants

    Other:
    -Mhaura->Al Zahbi/Al Zahbi->Mhaura (Open sea route)
-Al Zahbi->Nashmau/Nashmau->Al Zahbi (Silver Sea route)
-Chocobo Circuit (maybe this is technically considered a "town"?)

In conclusion, that's only 8 "actual fighting areas" (4 fields, 4 dungeons) and 3 towns. It's just that this expansion's areas were mostly Assault, Salvage, and Einherjar areas.

I think ToAU only feels small because of the runic portals and useful zones. Actually walking to any given point or freeing prisoners actually makes you appreciate that it's a fairly large expansion/zone. There's just a whole lot of places no one really ever goes to (for good reason). It'd be nice if they added more armor/content to hang out in some of the dungeons outside of the besieged fanatic wanting to break mirrors.

I'm not sure what the heck they keep talking about, with changing the armor models for different hairstyles. There isn't a new .dat for every hairstyle on the head, nevermind the rest of the slots. The way that helmets and such compensate for hair to prevent clipping is that helmets/hats/caps tell the head models not to display a section of the head (usually making a creepy, hollow face and neck thing) that the headpiece overlaps. The only concession they'd have to make to existing .dats for new hairstyles is to NOT make the new hairstyles go over the boundries of the old ones. That CAN'T be that hard; they have to have a set methodology.

(Fun Fact: Taru males and Taru females use the exact same gear models; the only difference is in head/hair models)

"Did you just compare the the cure to cancer to new hairstyles in a video game? Wtf is wrong with you?"

"I shop at walmart, that's my fucking culture!"

That's pretty much all I got from this.

Yeah, probably. Thank god the average player wants more content over new hairstyles.
That's where you are wrong Ring. Remember, the "average" player is the Alla poster, not the elitist bastard like yourself that only cares about content.

Changing the models would free this game of many issues it faces. Hairstyles is a manpower and time constraint not a PS2 limitation constraint. SE admitted that in the bold part of that quote that I and someone else posted. Yes I agree that SE isn't going to change the models anytime soon. But it would be nice in a few years or so that they move from the PS2 to the PS3 to free this game from those limitations.
So wait, let me get this straight because I don't want to confuse my elitest self here, but you really are saying that CHANGING THE MODELS would free this game of MANY ISSUES IT FACES?

    Ok, reading that again.

    Yes... I am still stupefied.

Hairstyles are more important than content, people! Open your eyes!

Man, I don't want to go over the top here, but at this point in this thread you are defending hairstyles over content, and Walmarts business model. Am I missing anything else?

I don't care enough to read into whether PETA was cast in a positive or negative light in this thread or even how the fuck it was brought up but seriously, fuck PETA.

One of those reasons I encourage people to find multiple sites you enjoy. I'm fondest of FFXIclopedia's and BG, and even a little browsing is enough to know there's plenty of cross-pollination going on.

Hearing similar questions from multiple sources also serves as a point to S-E...if everyone's asking them, it's time to take that question's priorities more seriously.

New hairstyles might be out of the question.

Being able to swap between the ones that exist though, would that be too hard?

So you're basically saying you want hair salons in FFXI................

If you want to play dressup, go play FFX-2.

Or gogo ffximod.com. Either way, stop wasting SE's time with requests like this.
