    Generation Chickenhawk

    Link

What a bunch of pompous, spoiled, self-righteous, self-serving, self-important, cowardly, weaselly hypocrites. I hope this gets some play on the Daily Show, it's right up their alley.

No, it's more of the typical "rah rah war as long as I don't have to be inconvenienced" hypocrisy of the right. These douches need to have the courage of their convictions and may find out that war isn't so great when you are the one being shot at.

The only thing that's keeping me from anger management over how frustrated these people make me, is Gary Jules' mad world. And maybe this klondike bar I'm having.

rah rah free healthcare as long as i dont have to be a doctor working under such a system?
rah rah welfare as long as i dont have to work for the welfare system?
rah rah keep my lawn maintained as long as i dont have to be the one who does it?
shit, rah rah dont let me get shot as long as i dont have to be a cop?

being a soldier,or,in the case of the US,a mercenary really, is a job, with pay, benefits and risks, just like any other. you aren't forced to be one,and if you decide to be, you accept the risks that come with it.

Does it hurt to be that stupid? It should...

Did you even watch the video? The same people who are saying "The Iraq War doesn't compare with the wars of the former generation. The American people probably couldn't stomach another World War." are also answering the call to serve with "I don't wanna." You don't question the bravery or patriotism of the anti-war movement without showing any spine or willingness to sacrifice yourself.

Your analogies suck as hard as your English.

i was directly referencing the argument that supporting the war without enlisting in the armed forces was hypocritical, which if you had half a brain you would've seen and realized that my analagies were sound. the video was about this, nowhere was bravery or patriotism mentioned. not once.

...and speaking of english, dont you mean typing? my only errors have been in capitalization and the use of apostrophes

The video exposes chickenhawks in the ranks of college republicans.

I'm pretty sure the first guy interviewed asserts that America wouldn't have the stomach for a war on the scale of the second World War, as if to somehow diminish the losses suffered in the Iraq conflict. This is a common launchpad for attacking the anti-war movement: "This isn't as bad as That Other War was!" That's a pretty funny thing to say in a crowd of "It's important to win this war," "Fight Al Qaeda over there or fight them over here" and "Defeat Islamic Fascism," all while excusing yourself from any actual sacrifice 'for medical reasons,' or because you're merely a student. Never mind that the overwhelming majority of enlistees in the US Army are fresh out of high school.

"I'm fighting an intellectual war" is equally laughable, when all these college kids are doing is nodding empty heads at war slogans verbatim from presidential policy speeches from 5 years ago.

    To sum up:

    1) They're sure that the Republican stance on the war is 'Unwavering support of the war.' This is wrong.
    2) They're convinced that failure in Iraq means renewed, unstoppable attacks on American soil. This doesn't speak very highly of the unprecedented top-notch security measures put in by a Republican-dominated government in the years following 9/11.
    3) They won't sacrifice their scholarships and bright political futures to become officers in the Armed Services. That's a pretty bullshit excuse when existing troops are sacrificing so much more fighting the war as-is, and when your 'culture war' turns you into little more than an unthinking parrot of The Party Line. War is nothing without sacrifice, and the only things these guys are sacrificing are their collective abilities to think for themselves.

Have we covered why they're called 'chickenhawks' sufficiently for you? Or are you going to keep harping on what you're so sure Septimus meant by 'hypocrisy.'

my only errors have been in capitalization and the use of apostrophes
Both of which are essential components of the English language. And it's called 'punctuation.' Lack of apostrophes was the least of your crimes against literacy.

yes. he said that supporting the war while not fighting in it was hypocritcal, and i showed it wasnt.

i dont see how i butchered english outside of not caring if someone sees me trying to look smart by having perfect-looking sentences, but then,if i didnt know the rules that i broke i guess i probably wouldnt notice any errors anyway

"Wah wah your only saying that because your not affected by it, if you were you would think different!" Toss in some insults and call it a day. What juvenile logic.

Apply this logic to any other topic and you have ruled out pretty any political discussion, by anyone, on any topic.
