You can bluster all you want about quitting, but the fact is most likely you probably would figure out a way to play if you couldn't play on PS2. If not, well, bye, because you're not worth the effort.
The same could be said about whining for dropping the support for the PS2. So what happens if they don't drop it Aurik? Absolutely nothing that's what. Truth be told, with all the gear you own, I'd be shocked if you ever quit playing this game. I respect the hell out of your in game accomplishments, but you are the type of person that will never quit playing this game until it dies. This goes for a vast majority of BG readers. Not trying to take a personal shot at you (or any BG forum member) by any means, and I see your point, but the game is 5 years old. The amount of playtime you guys have amassed is incredible and you are the most hardcore of the "hardcore." They need to just quit worrying about lolPS2 and make a totally brand new game.
I think a better solution would be to allow you to access your mog locker while in the field. Don't allow equip swaps or anything to come out of it, but allow us to stick something in it from anywhere inside the game. This way, I could leave my god tanking set in there until I actually need it. When I do need it, I could exchange my god tanking set for my haste set up because I don't need it that instant. This eliminates most of the problem of 60 total spaces because those 60 spaces can be swapped at any time outside of battle. If I go farming, the ability to leave 10 or so spaces open in my 60 slots of inventory would be fine, because once I fill those 10, I could then place in the locker until later, and then get 10 more items. Just a thought. A little more hassle than having 80 spaces available, but better than the current set up for sure.
