15% Haste worth sacrificing 28Att, 17Acc, 5DEX?

@judai: sorry if i came off like a dick, but i was genuinely asking about working haste gear into a 6 hit build. i don't currently have a 6 hit build, which is why i was asking about it. the reply to my initial post suggested that wearing hachiman feet and dusk gloves would give the same haste as kote/fuma, but more attack. the 'ew' remark came out of learning that the latent attack on hachiman kote is active only when above 100tp(i thought it was below and during ws, like onimaru).

so is my math wrong? assuming that i wear hachiman feet for ws, doesn't dusk/hachiman allow for a 6 hit build? or is the 8 store tp on the gloves the only way to do it? (this is assuming brutal earring, full store tp merits and rajas ring of course).

Dusk/Hachiman will definitely work for 6 hit. If you have full merits, you only need 11 more Store TP from gear. Rajas + Brutal + Hachiman Sune-Ate = 11.

It's possible to use Hachi Feet but you need to add Stoe TP in other spots as well. +21 is the number you are shooting for iirc. Kote make it easy to hit and allow you to use things in other slots.

/nin is just gimp imo. /thf allows you avoidability of hate and damage if you are afraid of dying. /nin offers survivability IF you somehow pull hate. I just don't get /nin. Such a big sacrifice of damage for such a small gain in survivability.

I use a similar setup to above, but hachiman feet and bandomusha hands (and byakko) instead - I was going to use hachiman hands and fuma feet, but then I decided 22 att was better so I capped store TP and went with that instead - 14% haste and 6hit setup. As far as meriting, I went once as sam/war to colibri, war war war sam rdm brd, and had a blast. MP was never really bad and no deaths, but the rdm had dalm/af2 so I doubt it works quite the same in pickup. In terms of merits, I never capped sam, too much else to play with - I'm at 5 store TP, 2 med, 1 shikikoyo, 1 overwhelm only.

I'm relatively noob to sam though - I was 75 before hasso seigan came out and never took the time to really work out their use in terms of timing with WS (I'd love to WS with hasso, but then I'll get hit before I can get seigan/third eye up etc), so take that as you will.

You guys should go whack some mobs with and without O.Kote on and see there really is not a major difference. You are adding a few damage to your hits which is easily over taken by the extra swings you get from Haste.

I use Bando Kote over dusk for 2 reasons
1) im broke atm and bando was free
2) when i do exp as sam(which i rarely do since i got mnk lved) i find that mobs usually die so fast that the fights dont go long enough that 3% haste will really add up enough before mob dies. Autotraget fixes that to some degree but i find alot of times mine usually doesn't go off.

SO dusk are better then O/Bando kote provided you stay engaged long enough.

Thanks for all the feedback! The more I play around with the haste build, the more I like it. Had Haste and March along with Hasso and the +haste gear in Dynamis last night, and I could definitely notice the difference. No doubt due more to the March and Haste than the gear, but that's beside the point.

Has anyone worked out a good /wait or pause to have Seigan/Third Eye go off right after their ws? I'll usually ws then mash my Seigan/Third Eye macro, but still take a hit or two before Seigan and then finally Third Eye are up.

i keep them in separate macros honestly, just because there are times that i need it the most where the lag of a single macro just doesn't cut it. generally i have no difficulty getting seigan and third eye up after a ws(provided i need to), and i generally won't take more than one hit, if any, in the process of getting it up.

as for your question tho, the best results(which for me, weren't good enough), was a /wait 2 when i experimented with it in one macro.

According to the FFXI Calculator, this reduces my delay from 450 to 387. Haste and Hasso further reduce to 276, which is pretty sexy on paper.
