you can use the same key you are currently using for the copy you have installed.

key-gen'ing a product you already have a key for is stupid.

contact microsoft and inform them you had to reformat and reinstall - and have them clear the license for you.

if they resist, bitch until you get a superior customer service representative who will do it for you.

    Re: New Mobo Problems

very strange, this solution somewhat worked. the lag has been reduced abit but some of it's still there, anything else to do?

edit: my cpu temp seems to idle around 65 C whenever i play ffxi . that's not good o.O

edit: the problem still persist it seems. 15 fps whenever an NPC comes into view.

    Re: New Mobo Problems

k think i installed the chipset but im not sure, did some sort of bios flash thing and then i had to reactivate windows so i called ms and now im back in, gonna try ffxi

edit: it didn't work It's so stupid to me i think. I k be in the middle of megalobugard camp spot facing towards a wall without any mobs on my screen, then i spin my camera towards the gigas/orc that patrols the area and seconds i see him fps goes to 15... what the hell is the problem it honestly sounds like a video problem i have 30 fps anywhere it seems but soon as i see someone else BAM 15fps. ive already tried pretty much every nvidia and ati driver there is... still no go. gitting really disappointed

    Re: New Mobo Problems

I recommend checking the processor usage with and without character models on screen. I'm willing to bet the processor is being bogged down by something. Also, I probably missed it somewhere, but what operating system are you running?

Also I'm curious as to how you have DDR memory in a core duo 2 board....Did you mean PC2-3200? If you did mean DDR1 I had no idea boards could support it with core duo 2 not to mention the time frame seems completely out of whack...

    Re: New Mobo Problems

im using windows XP home edition. my board supports dual ddr ram and ddr2 ram. ill check the processor usage real quick

edit: im using ddr not ddr2 (havn't had the money to git a set of corsair ddr2 ram sticks yet)

edit2: CPU Usage while starring at a orcish bowyer infront of a wall 55%. CPU Usage while starring at the wall without the bowyer 8%

CPU Usage while lookin at 2 other players camping megalobugard 58%

CPU Usage when i turn away from them and face in a direction with no mobs 8%

CPU Temp is around 27-32C while playing ffxi. 27 when no one on screen 32 when im lagging

anything else you need to know?

edit3: while lookin at my speedfan (monitoring decvice) looks like core1 is doing all the work and core 2 only jumps up every now and then, dunno what that means.

    Re: New Mobo Problems

well to be honest, the same thing happens to my pentium D processor. Even though it is a last gen dual core, a pentium 4 from 2001 still performed better then it on ffxi.

    Re: New Mobo Problems

this is the whole scenario. i had a 2001 one computer (pre built ough from HP) it was laggy but it wasn't where i had 30fps anywhere and 15fps whenever i saw someone was always like 15fps. then i decided i wanted a new processor i a bought a 3.0 pentium 4 and and found out it didn't work with my 01 mobo. so i bought a new mobo and this problem started. so i decided well wtf ill just buy a dual core processor and a brand new mobo and that'll solve it. well it's still doing the same thing. so, have you come to an end on your suggestions?

edit: HP comp had a 1.8 celeron D

    Re: New Mobo Problems

Use the jp windower to remove the textures on the character models to see if it relieves the lag. From previous tests, this is what puts so much stress on the cpu. I dunno how it will help solve the problem but it might help isolate it.

edit: im going to bed, hopefully ill wake up to some more help. greatly appriciate the help guys. if only we could solve this problem
