omg... i found the JP windower and i made it where it doesn't show the textures and stuff... and it works i can spend my camera around and maintain 30fps. only now my ffxi looks stupid lol ^_^ but that's something to think about. the skins on the monsters make my lag...

    Re: New Mobo Problems

yeah, thats the cause of most of the lag in ffxi....the way the textures are rendered on characters is so dependent on the cpu processes.

FFXI doesn't utilize both cores. It only uses one. Just because you have two cores doesn't mean both are being used. However, if you're running FFXI and encoding video at the same time, sure the two cores will show a great performance increase as opposed to only one core.

okay when ffxi is running normally, with these 2 mobs infront of it's 15fps. but with jp windower

    Re: New Mobo Problems

Seems to me if you have Diablo running in the background while trying to play FFXI you will have pretty laggy video. Hell I get enough video lag in Diablo when i play it by itself. Plus I've always read that the 5200 series Nvidia weren't that good. But I could be wrong on that.

    Re: New Mobo Problems

i only loaded ffxi to take that picture of that JP windower giving me 30 fps with mobs on the screen. d2 takes up about 3% of my cpu usage... wasn't actually playing ffxi in that pic

    Re: New Mobo Problems

Just read through windower forums and noticed ALOT of people are having this problem. Only my specs are completely different than theirs. People on windower were blaming it on a 8800 Nvidia card, i have a FX 5500 card and crap and i have the EXACT same problem as them. o.O One of them said the problem occur'd on VISTA and people suggested switching to XP and when he did, it fixed it. I run on XP still have the problem.

    Re: New Mobo Problems

They were older computers as well, an a newer Mobo with an older video card may cause the problem as well. I did the same as you an bought a new mobo+processor had no problems until I got Vista. But last driver update pretty much fixed them it seems. I still get the occasional crash to desktop. But no where near the way I was before. And the well known BRD Song/Firaga FPS drop,I no longer get with the last Driver update as well.

But you could go over to nzone forums to get some better help with the card and maybe find someone else that has had the problems as well. http://forums.nvidia.com

I too noticed that firaga3/bard songs don't rape my FPS using guru3d latest release for XP 32 bit, 168.18 /random

    Re: New Mobo Problems

I personally would borrow a card from a friend if you can. And see if you still get the same problem. Also would suggest goin over to the Nvidia forums. And see if they can suggest to you anything as well. I know there is a whole post dedicated to the 6600gt card, with some of the stuff in there working for other cards as well.

This is a suggestion for the VIA chipsets from Nzone If you have an AGP card, im not real sure whether you have PCI PCI-e or AGP
In your BIOS have AGP fast writes turned off, and set your apeture size to 256, or 128, NOT 64. Mine is set to 256, and some posters on the forums report better performance, esp in the Nvidia demos [which are cool] at 256. Fast writes can help you a litttle, so after shutting it off, and using your card for about 3 weeks, try turning it back on and run some games and other tests. If you can leave it on, do so. Most VIA chipset owners will need to leave it off.

if you still have the affinity set for both cores. I bet this is what's causing this. try forcing it to run in one core or the other. (also, consider forcing your OS processes to run in the other core if you can)
