I asked this before, but it got missed in the middle of another discussion.
Kirin's Osode v. Usukane Haramaki for Y/G/K.
Trying to tweak a Mordant Rime set on BRD, aside from having a crappy dagger I think I have a decent set but having a hard time choosing between a few slots. Relevant WSC mods are 30% DEX/50% CHR, 2-hit WS with 3.0 fTP.
At the moment I'm using:
Dancing Dagger/Joy/Instrument
Optical/Thunder Gorget/Hollow/Brutal
Osode/Heca/Omega/Woodsman
Amemet +1/Gleeman's/Choral+1/Goliard
The slots I'm iffy on:
Head: Optical vs. Bard's Roundlet vs. ??? - 10 Acc vs. 5 CHR vs. something better?
L.Ear: Hollow vs. Epsilon - 2 DEX 4~ Acc vs. 3 CHR
Body: Kirin's Osode vs. Bard's Justaucorps- 10 STR/DEX/CHR/5 Atk/Acc vs. 8 STR/DEX/-8 CHR/4 Acc/21~ Atk
Hands: Hecatomb vs. Tarasque - 7 STR/4 DEX vs. 10 Atk
Rings: Omega vs. Flame vs. ??? - 3 CHR vs. 5 STR vs. something better?
Back: Amemet +1 vs. Jester's +1 - 2 STR/16 Atk vs. 10 CHR
Yeah, I want Askar hands cause I like the enmity + haste + dex + loleva (taking hauberk down to -2 comforts me oddly), and with them + Aurum, I'd hate you homam users a little less that War isn't on there.
Linsivi and I were playing with Rime outside whitegate the other day.
Naturally with 2 ps2 users he pops off a 1337 Rime, when we can't SS text.
This is what we've worked out should be ideal:
Blau/Joy/Ghorn~I.R. horn (both Chr +4)/_
Nhead/Frag~Disto Gorgets/Brutal/Delta > Pixie > Hollow > Melody +1 > Triumph
Osode/Nhands/Heavens/Rajas ~ Flame ~ Acc ~ Iota ~ Omega ~ Heavens
Jesters +1> Forag/Warwolf/AF1 +1/Nfeet > Goliard (needs more testing)
He was dropping 1k > just under 1500's /Nin depending on minuets and whatnot, very impressive WS, looks cool too with the big crystal effect.
No we really dont have a problem getting to the boss or kililng it for that matter, just trying to maximize my potential. I obviously dont use ridill on drk on the way to the boss. I use scythe and change to it when brds are buffing pre boss, so drk/drg really isnt too bad. Though the damage potential is higher for drk zerging, I would think that war is more dependable if we get an undead boss or something that would resist souleater.
most bosses, undead or not resist SE from what ive seen. DD jobs do enough dmg with a brd rotation that BWSE zerging isnt needed anyway
For Trick attack on THF:
Hecatomb Cap Vs. AGI Head (Denali bonnet, dragon cap?)
Warwolf Belt Vs. Scouter's Rope
Hecatomb Feet Vs. Trotter Boots (Or any other AGI feet? Dragon?)
Hecatomb Subligar Vs. Oily Trousers
Dragon Harness +1/ Hecatomb Harness Vs. Denali Jacket
Thanks ^^
Are we talking soloTA?
1 AGI =~ 4 STR. (in reality the 4str is slightly better due to attack benefits but since TA criticals this is of minimal impact at best);
Hecatomb Cap vs Dragon Cap
11STR vs 4AGI
= 11/4 vs 16/4, so Dragon Cap wins.
Warwolf Belt vs Scouter's Rope
5STR vs 4AGI
= 5/4 vs 16/4, so Scouter's Rope wins.
Hecatomb Leggings vs Trotter Boots
6STR vs 2AGI
= 6/4 vs 8/4, so Trotter Boots win (though Dragon Leggings are better).
Hecatomb Subligar vs Oily Trousers
20 Attack vs 5AGI.
This one isn't so easy. I'd use Oily Trousers though because they don't have Slow.
Dragon Harness +1 vs Denali Jacket
AGI7 Attack12 vs AGI10 Attack9
Attack3 vs AGI3
Easily Denali Jacket.
Hecatomb Harness vs Denali Jacket
STR12 vs AGI10 Attack9
STR12 vs AGI10 Attack3
12/4 vs 40/4 and Attack3... yeah, easy choice again.
Bear in mind slow and/or haste do have effects on the attack round after SA and TA so weigh these into things too when it gets close (like Heca Subligar vs Oily Trousers). Obviously accuracy means nothing because the TA hit and all subsequent hits of that attack round are guaranteed~
Penta/Drakesbane
heca vs ares + why
Bad formulation, not to fulltime, to idle in. I was using koenig but idk I never really liked them. They destroy my pretty outfit.
And please, if someone asks for Option A or option B, stop answering option C because well, it's most likely a piece of gear they don't have. (hi2u askar/homam)
Strictly for idle set, Koenig seems like a clear win. More Def, more HP (and thus less hate lost from taking damage), more VIT, more Resist Sleep. Valor doesn't have anything over Koenig for idling, only for actions.
I've seen these impressive 1k-1500 Mordant Rime numbers on EP and lower type mobs, but I've not seen anyone really talk about Merit lvl mobs or stronger. I haven't got the WS yet to play around with it, but could it be that Bard is in a very unfavorable position on the pDif curve (against stronger monsters)? With such a low natural dagger skill, and wearing an entire compliment of gear that has zero +attack built in... even with Minuets, I'd peg most bards around ~400-415 attack wearing that gear. (assume sushi as Meat + Dagger + bard is just laughable)
Thoughts?
There is a blog hidden somewhere concerning thf. in it the blogger calculated that the slow% from hect gear actually makes a thf attack on the next round 3x slower on average than usual thusly negating the damage bonuses from putting the hect gear on in the first place during sneak/trick attack.
I have been unable to test due to being on ps2 and I don't want to do the math but I can explain why this holds true for thf.
We treat SA and TA like they're mini ws when really they're free 100% acc atk rounds with a guaranteed hit when unstacked. So basically SA and TA happen to be times that you are tping. Do you tp in hect gear? i should hope not.
So because of this i theorize atm that hybrid gear(which combines hate and the relevant stats) are the best choices for TA and SA unstacked.
So denali bonnet > hect cap for TA so long as it's unstacked
I personally choose the scouter's rope since whenever unstacked since 4 base dmg is > than 5 str for a hit. When stacked i just go with the warwolf since if i miss the TA when a DD moves out the way i at least get my str/dex bonus.
feet to use in this care are enkidu's leggings. 2% haste on em means you wont slow down too much while getting your damage boost.
So on so forth.
Lins was pushing 350~ before minuets.
So they can actually put up fairly nice numbers, yes.
If they use /Thf, it just makes it easier, and his /Thf numbers without minuet were really nice.
He was missing Blau, but it's a 3.0 fTP WS at 100% TP with sick mods, give that to any melee and they'll one shot Jesus. So yes, Bards can, and will sooner or later, put up good numbers with it.
If it takes til I get my brd up (melee merits, that gear, + taru luck on the damage calculation!) then I'll do it for lulz.
For the record, I was doing 900~1300 on most of my RR's, but I wasn't using Zerk cause I was just tanking the birds for him so his TP didn't get wiped.
Rime is sick.
For Drakes, 1Str:1Dex is winnrar, it's a crit WS with multi-hits, moar acc, moar dex, moar str.
Test a claymore grip sometime, see how it works against pole, you may be surprised.
I definitely agree, I typically expect my attack will come almost entirely from Minuet/Chaos, and I highly doubt it'll be viable for a normal meripo, but I think it will have some nice lowman applications with its SC properties, so would still like to form a proper set for it.
Here's my MNK setup:
Destroyers
Tiphia
Turban
PCC
Brutal
Merman's
Togi
O.kotes
Jaeger Ring
Ecphoria Ring
Forager's
Black Belt
AF2 Pants
Dune Boots
1st, I got Byakko's coming in soon, and I was wondering if I should dump the dunes for fumas when I do? I'd hit the 25% haste cap. Do dunes really outweigh 3% haste?
2nd, I got accuracy problems. I'm 4/8 h2h merits. Looking to get a toreador's soon if it ever drops, but other than that, any suggestions?
