Askar is only -2% Damage Taken.
Short answer is aim for ~-25% MDT and fill in other slots with MDB. There are several gear combos to do this, so it's kinda up to you how you want to mix and match.
My Iron Ram-less set (because I barely ever spend any time campaigning) is:
IR Lance : -10% MDT
2x Merman Rings : -8% MDT
Askar Gambieras : -2% MDT
Lieutenant's Sash : -2% MDT
Coral Scale Mail: -3% MDT
Lamian Kaman : MDB +1
Lamia Mantle +1 : MDB +4
There's a lot of ways my set could be improved, which is why I say it's really up to you how you build it. I could add a Merman earring, which would allow me to use IR feet in place of Askar, for example. If I added another Merman earring, I could swap out the sash for a resolute belt. Yadda yadda...
final finishing my rng and right now buying up all the gear iam ganna need for 71-75 but could use some advice
what would be better for ws in general +3 str and +2 agi off Marine boots or +6 Ratt from war boots +1 and later down the line when i get them Marine boots vs scouts socks?
next question whats best pants for rng ive looked threw alot of stuff and best i see are the Pahluwan Seraweels and Akinji Salvars are there anything better then thows?
and 1 last question for TPing whats better str or just RATT?
Feet are iffy, I prefer Scout's Socks for most everything as I don't use meat often and like more RAtk in gear.
Scout's Braccae are good for legs for TP, I personally just fulltime them but my RNG is just a 2box mule, otherwise there's Paluwhan/Denali, both of which are good for WS, as well as Dusk Trousers for TP.
For TPing you should focus on RAcc/RAtk.
Feet TP: Skadi's Jambeaux > Scout's Socks > Marine M Boots > War Boots
Feet WS: Skadi's Jambeaux > Marine M Boots > Scout's Socks
Legs TP: Skadi's Chausses > Dusk(+1) > Pahluwan Seraweels/Scout's Braccae/Hachiryu Haidate
Legs WS: Hachiryu Haidate > Pahluwan Seraweels > Skadi's Chausses > Dusk(+1) > Scout's Braccae.
Is WAR or SAM sub better for general DRG exping, LV60-74.
Using standard DD gears, SH PCC Acc rings, etc etc, and a 492 delay lance for the most part.
I currently don't have a rajas ring, but the 30day timer comes up in a couple weeks. With a rajas
I could swing 7-hit with WAR SJ.
WAR SJ is 8-hit build, but has Berserk and Double attack obviously.
SAM SJ is 7-hit with hasso and meditate.
For TPing ratk is generally better unless you are buffed like hell (minuets, chaos, berserk etc.) in that case go for higher STR. Do take into account that 2str is equal 1 ratk thats why osode is still better than denali jacket etc.
For ws I would emphaise a little more on str, but do not neglect ranged attack either.
Scout's socks > skadi in my opinion. For legs, enkidu has +4str if you are lazy to get Pahluwan seraweels. Hachiryu haidate is no doubt the best legs ws piece for rng.
Guess I worded it wrongly, but I think he knows what I meant.
2 str gives 1 ratk AND also fstr2 bonus.
As Red said, the loss of a hit in KJ on damage is why I'll be using Nhands/Haidate vs Alky's/Str +4 legs, I wouldn't give up 10 Acc on a low acc gear set unless I had shit like Hachi legs to replace it with.
No, you weren't capped at birds with askar body unless you had madrigal, or were using a super high dex build/some acc pieces, were riding hasso/5 merits agg, and using hedgehog pies while a Thf spammed merited feint.
A level 81 monster, squishy they may be as an uber melee, is still lvl 81, and more evasive than you think.
-10~12 Acc, -5~6 Dex is NEVER worth 2% DA and 5 STP, both of which only become valuable when you're going to land the hits they're affecting, unless you're a Drg or have +20 Acc on your weapon. Which are special cases.
Incoming THF questions~
1) For SA or SAWS head slot: Voyager Sallet vs Assassin's Bonnet. It's a matter of 3STR vs 1DEX, and inventory -1! (I don't have HNMLS, so just hoping Nhead would drop from Einherjar someday)
2) For unstacked DE : Enkidu's Subligar vs Dusk Trousers? My gut feeling says dusk would be better, just not so sure. (I don't have dagger merits, so I'm thinking whether +4dex would give me placebo acc bonus)
3) SAWS : When doing SA DE or Evis, should I go full out +dex? Or should I keep a balance of dex + acc for SA DE or Evis?
4) TAWS : When doing TAWS, should I even bother to use AF+1 hands? Or just use Nhands?
That's all for now ^^)/
soloSA: Assassin's Bonnet
SAWS: Assassin's Bonnet will do more raw damage unless we're talking Mercy Stroke; consider Optical Hat though for DE/Evis especially given your lack of dagger merits.
I personally use Dusk; I guess you could use Enkidu Subligar but 2acc is easy to make up elsewhere; 14atk is more difficult.2) For unstacked DE : Enkidu's Subligar vs Dusk Trousers? My gut feeling says dusk would be better, just not so sure. (I don't have dagger merits, so I'm thinking whether +4dex would give me placebo acc bonus)
A balance I'd say. Keep head slot as Optical Hat unless N Head or Feint is up, ring you can probably substitute to Thunder Ring and generally it just depends on the rest of your build.3) SAWS : When doing SA DE or Evis, should I go full out +dex? Or should I keep a balance of dex + acc for SA DE or Evis?
AF+1. Unless you're using Mercy Stroke where it will -sometimes- be worse, AF+1 will always be the hands of choice for TAWS.4) TAWS : When doing TAWS, should I even bother to use AF+1 hands? Or just use Nhands?
The question is, is it possible, when doing SAWS, with full out +dex, the benefits of stacking +dex for the first critical hit would outweigh the loss of 1-2 missed hits during multihits? Because, as of now, I don't have 'good mix of acc/dex' set up yet, well.... not at least until I get Enkidu Cap/Hands.
You can get close if you have an X's Knife (<_<) and/or a REALLY strong DEX build, but I'd definitely build for consistency. First hit is of course the best but good to get as many in average as possible too; only on really tough stuff would you emphasise the first hit over all others and that's where Shark Bite/Mandalic Stab/Mercy Stroke come in anyway.
You would need an unrealistic amount of DEX to equal lost damage from 1-2 hits, it's just not going to happen.
I'm sure this has been beaten like a dead horse before, but I only found one decent topic which I read through by searching so here goes. I recently dinged rng to 75 after being a career blm and also leveling rdm mostly for some solos blm couldnt do. I leveled RNG mostly because our ls is a lower number LS and needed additional rng's for Odin. I'm currently tossed up between archery or marksmanship merits. Here's where I plan on using RNG:
1.) Odin
2.) Kirin zergs
3.) BV2 zergs
4.) JoL (although maybe blm here)
Dynamis, sky, sea, limbus, regular einherjar, etc will be blm.
Weapon wise I currently own an Ebow for archery, and an Obow & Hellfire +1 for marksmanship, and am deep in the hunt for a culverin +1.
From speaking with LS mates, they say dot at longer events I should be using archery so they push for those merits. But in zergs I'll obviously be using gun and also be heavily buffed with brd(s) & a cor.
Most lsmates are pushing for Archery merits, but i've seen a lot of marksmanship > archery merits on BG. So I'm hoping to find out why that is, and get some feedback on which I should merit. I'm sure I'll end up doing both eventually, but as for now which would be best to *first* merit. Thanks!
You see... I do have X's, as a matter of fact, our static's record is 3/14 for knives lul...
Anyways, one more question I forgot to ask :
Let me get this straight, so when doing TA DE/Evis, AF+1 for hand slot is best, while the rest slots would be acc/dex as normal? What about TA SB? Should I go all +agi since it's only a 2-hits ws?
