Any time you would be getting hit with a physical attack that you could have blocked, the lolvit would have reduced the fStr of the monster slightly, and I could swear it added more than 2 Def over Palmerin's between the base Def + the Def from the Vit... or does the Def from Vit on the shield not count?

My understanding was that only the base DEF of the shield is what mattered when calculating the -% taken from blocks. I have not tested this though, so grains of salt abound.

Nah, we don't do JoL at the moment and I'd use RDM/PLD for that, typically I'd only use PLD for Limbus(normal + bosses)/Sky/ZNM/Campaign. At the moment I still use RDM for Ultima just because my RDM is fully meritted and much better geared than my PLD.

If my RDMs could survive Citidel Buster, I could be the laziest tank ever. :_:

I would assume the VIT def doesn't count for that really. Anyways it's not like a serious thing of promoting Palmerin's, it's just the Shield Skill thread got me thinking about random PLD shit, then when I was looking at it last night I thought that maybe it honestly wasn't as bad as everyone acts like.

I am completely serious in the fact the main reason I use a Koenig shield and never thought about using a different shield is that mine is signed by a friend who doesn't play much anymore. I guess fond memories are worth more than a few Enmity or -% damage taken. >_>

For a PLD on the (really really) cheap though, the Palmerin's Shield is the way to go I guess. /shrug

Haha, mine is signed too, but from someone in a LS that I have 95% of blisted, pretty much the only nice person in the LS, it took me like 3 weeks to find a crafter for it and I felt weird asking them since I have their entire LS blisted, but they signed it.

What's better for rng WS (Sidewinder / Slugshot)

Scout's socks v Hachiryu Sune-ate?

I assume for sidewinder scout's socks would be better for things I have capped acc (bow 8/8) on and hachiryu for other situations.

As for Slugshot since I have 0 marksmenship merits I would assume these would be best for ws no matter what?

I would assume Hachiryu > Scout's because its like comparing CFG vs Seiryu's. However, I'm probably in the same boat with Callisto that you need ranged atk to balance it out.

For 528 delay weapons, you only need +1 Store TP aka Brutal Earring to get a 6 hit.

For 501 delay weapons, you'd need +23 STP so it'd be similar to a Gaxe WAR/SAM in gear, I guess. Since I don't have Rajas and I do have Ebody, I'm really loathe to use a store TP body since it gives a huge hit in Acc (which you've been going on about for the past page lol). I'd be more inclined to go this route if I had Aurum Cuirass. I don't really have too much experience with 2h Weapons since I usually go with Man/Rid on WAR because of no Rajas.

I guess I've made up my mind over which to use with no Rajas, but still on the fence about Tred vs. Vendetta, but I still got a way to go (DRK currently 66).

Acutally w/ 21stp you can achieve a 5 hit build with 501 scythes as long as you don't miss any 2 hits on guillotine. So it's an issue if you miss those hits and whenever you are starting at 0tp.

There really isn't much practical difference between the top end scythes. Outisde of apoc, there is not clear cut winner, so I wouldn't over anaylze it and just go with w/e one you like the best.

Just got a peacock charm, have blu 75, and I'm wondering if I should get rid of my chiv. chain. BLU doesn't really need much accuracy for physical spells given the inherent accuracy bonus, as well as the fact I eat sushi most of the time on blu. So this leans it towards Chiv Chain. Then again, Spike Necklace might be just as fine. Of course I'd prefer the Einherjar Spike Necklace +1 but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

So...PCC for multi-hits, Spike for multi-hits, or just keep Chiv Chain?

PCC is pretty hot, Spike is better for Diss max damage potential due to the Str + Dex and ability to get acc elsewhere generally, Chiv is just a middle ground really, I'd go PCC/Spike in most cases.

I'm not a Blu though, your methods may vary.

You're looking at 34stp to get a 4-hit with a full guillotine return on a 528 scythe. So that's not really practical gear wise or to count on guillotine hitting all 4 all the time. I guess you could do it with Aurum body and carbonara with /sam, raja's, and brutal. But again, you're giving up a lot by dumping haub+1/ebody and not eating meat and this setup would only really be feasible at mamools unless you want to send the gil to spam carbonara. Most don't.

However, I don't recommend aurum body for meriting at all. Even on colibri's a decent drk is sitting on about 380-390 acc and capped acc at colibri's is around 405ish. I can't recommend losing the acc from haub+1/ebody when you are most likely below the acc cap with them on in the first place. It's just a myth that all these 2-h DD's are at the acc cap. Most are close and a few are there, but the majority (even decently geared) are not at the cap.

For overall scything, I use tred only. 528's are easier to maintain 6-hit with (for those unavoidalbe gullotine misses) and the extra crits make up for the +atk and acc on something like perdu.
