Vaguely remember it was something like Genome vs wafik (rajas vs tamas).

You don't have to prefer melee over mage, the benefits of Rajas far outweigh Tamas.

Rajas does much more for melee jobs (2handers, other melee don't exist anymore) than mages. Going from 7 to 6 hit lowers time to get to 100TP significantly and greatly increases your output. For BLM, it would save me one inventory since I could use it for nukes and stoneskin, but I still need Ether Ring for Sorc Ring anyway. RDM, saves one inventory on enfeebles. Ether or Tamas for Convert, situational depending on gear and race. Enmity -3 and that extra MP+30 on your first spell is barely going to do anything.

This is the problem when trying to argue this point... everyone seems to become temporarily incapable of reading and assumes I'm trying to put forth a case for Tamas being better than Rajas, which is not at all what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to show why choosing Tamas is completely justifiable if you're serious about your mage jobs.

Gah, sorry. Didn't mean to reopen this can of worms. Drwaffles expresses it clearly. I do understand Rajas is pretty amazing, I suppose I just find people write off Tamas very easily when I feel strongly that for a mage there is nothing like it. People gloss over the -3EMN and 30 MP a lot (without converting HP...)

If the job you want to maximise and make no compromises for is a mage job then its obviously going to be tamas ring because it is the best ring for that purpose.

But I don't think thats what people are arguing here, simply that Rajas does more for melee jobs than tamas does for mages, which is undeniably true (you could right a book on the reasons as to why but its pretty clear)

The guy's Sam would be gimp without Rajas.
The guy's Blm would NOT be gimp without Tamas.

MP on tamas is completely irrelevant in this situation, especially for a blm. MP is completely meaningless on blm.

You can't claim that like if everyone here was taru or had merited mp. Maybe in your unique situation mp is meaningless, for other people and configurations its not.

Im truly sorry but not owning Rajas on a melee job doesnt make you gimp, and not owning Tamas as a mage doesnt make you gimp (nor pimp for that matter).
Argue more on something more relative and concrete instead then a ring you can toss and get back when you decide what jobs you wanna use/like more

Learn to read. It's not Rajas on a melee job, it's Rajas on SAM.

It's relatively vital for Samurai, because the 5stp on a ring slot leaves you with only 6 STP needed to get your six hit. 5, because I'm assuming the person is going to be wearing brutal regardless.

So, that means the person will only need to wear either Hachiman feet, or say, Askar body. Meaning that frees up the hands/feet slots for Fumas/Dusk gloves.

Soooo yeah. This guy's jobs (blm and sam), clearly the Rajas is a better choice. The Rajas will do far more for Samurai than a Tamas will do for blm.

Once again, actually read what I said, or learn how samurai works before you flame me.

I hardly think my SAM would be considered gimp without Rajas. It definitely wouldn't be optimal, but I don't think it was gimp.

I did drop my Tamas and pick up Rajas though.

GK 8/8 STP4/5 ....
hagun/pole grip /X/smart grenade
usu(shura)/justice/brutal/bushi
shura(ko)/dusk(alky)/rajas/utalam
forager/swift(warwolf)/BH(shura)/usu

=>46STP = ok for 6hit with a 450 delay

now if i use Sword Strap (Two-handed weapon delay-3%)
delay =436.5 (437?)=>11.1tp/hit (base) ==> need 51STP =46+5
=> just need to swap shura togi for askar

But seriously, sword strap is very meh, so Togi/Pole would be the better choice.

If you had the acc to actually wear askar, then it'd just be better to wear askar/pole.

I'm going to have to side with Amentis on this one, anyone who has SAM at 75 and didn’t pick Rajas is just plain gimp. There is no other ring choice that would have as much of an impact on any other job than this. You can buy INT+5 and you can buy MND+5, you can’t buy a ring of the same caliber as Rajas.

The equivalent would be like picking an Abyssal Earring while having both BLM and a WAR, THF, NIN or BLU leveled.

And still, it all comes down to how often you will use and how you will use this(these) job(s). Same goes for everything in this game, obviously your goals will be to have the most optimal things you can get but you have to make some sacrifises.
