This debate just came up on our LS forums, so I was hoping to get an outsider input. Using a Novia on RNG. Would you consider using a Novia (emnity -7) or stick with the triumph? Maybe novia for TP, triumph for WS? Trying to figure out which would be better in the long run, -7 emnity from every shot and thus more WS's without pulling hate, or a constant STR+2.

Arguable, but I'd use Novia for TP and WS in long fights. Adding Novia to my current gear - Scout's Braccae +1 (-3), Bucc Belt (-4) - would be a fairly substantial emnity down set that is still also quite functional. I'd lot it for RNG, but I'd rather save my karma points for other things.

To start a new argument, I also think Cassie > 2nd Triumph (assuming you have 50 MP to convert, which is pretty easy).

I originally did this also since I have full MP merits. But, my only issue with cassie was I use vision earring in my barrage macro (RACC+2) and therefore the 50 mp that was verted back and forth to HP wasn't even full unless a RDM or WHM wanted to cure II me every 5 minutes. So I was missing out on 1 STR and rarely actually full HP utilizing those 50.

The LS discussion is also between people who already own novias from other jobs, so we wouldnt be overlotting a whm, brd, rdm, etc.

Ranger really has nothing spectacular to be used on the ear slots, IMHO -7 enmity is better than 2 str. An ideal setup (without compromising too much) is

novia -7
delta -3
Zha'Go's Barbut -5
Scout's braccae -2(-3)
Scout's socks -3(-4)
Bucccaneer's -4 or loltheta sash -5

Total of -24 enmity (-26 with HQ relics). Combined with stealth shot, barrage will hardly ever pull hate.

yep, i'm one of those ranger using novia too. There was nothing spectacular to put next to my hollow when looked to gear it at 75 (got fenrir but seeing it's only half the time, i thought "meh"), so simply decided to put novia next to it. And now with barbut/novia/pants and soon buccaneer, it's a good chunk of enmity- that i'm happy to play in.

What EXACTLY is the benefit/downside of Terror Shield vs Koenig?

I'm wanting one for when I hit 69 anyway, as I enjoy campaign anyway, but assuming you had one, and actually would be campaigning a lot anyway for the foreseeable future (still need to finish I.R. hands/legs, and body one day if they put it in), would I want to trade it in for a Koenig besides intimidating Byakko/Behe/Kirin and shit like that?

Outside of Rampart VIT is pretty pointless imo. Can't swap shields or you'll lose TP (Atonement, Chivalry) so I made an easy switch to Terror Shield.

I believe that the 1 enmity and 20 HP on Terror is going to help me more than the 2 DEF and 5 VIT on Koenig will.

Even NQ Rasetsu > Skote in terms of pure evasion. If you have high parry or guard though, you may want to go with the skote for agi+. I personally use Usukane Gloves for mnk/nin and Skote for mnk/dnc.

I just got my THF to 70 last night, and I have been wondering about some dagger combos until I get time to camp Sirocco. I am aware of the azoth/blau combo but that's quite a hit to the gil atm.
