    Here's an interesting one...

    MNK#1
    Full Usukane
    Black Belt
    Ethereal Earring
    /WAR sub

    MNK#2
    Usukane Somen
    Shura Togi
    Bando Kote
    Wyvern Earring
    Black Belt
    Byakko's Haidate
    Dune Boots
    /DRG sub

For all missing gear slots, assume Forager's Mantle, Divisor + Ulth Rings, Faith Torque, Brutal Earring, Destroyers and Black Tathlum.

Note: Both builds would have 25% Haste.

    you're comparing:
    dune boots + 25 attack + jumps
to berserk, double attack, 18 accuracy, 13 str, 13 store tp, 5 subtle blow, 32 evasion

at 400 attack, which is way lowball, berserk will add an average of 60 attack over time which simplifies the comparison to

jump/high jump amount to a free attack round once per minute(1:30 on jump, 3:00 on high jump, amounts to 3 total jumps in a 3 minute time period) with a bonus of VIT/256%.. or essentially an attack round that does 1.2x damage. 25% haste + 15% spell + 20% marches = 60% haste, an attack round starts off at 5.8 seconds with destroyers and martial arts 6, this cuts it to 2.32 seconds. This means you get 26 attack rounds per minute, 1.2 / 26 = .046, or a 4.5% increase in damage over time + tp gained through jumps.

Kick attacks fully meritted comes out to 15% rate, dune boots add 30 base damage, your kicks begin at DMG:35, so this adds 86% to your kick damage. Your hand to hand base damage is 53, and you get 2 attack rounds per 15% chance at a kick so kicks are:

35/53=66% of damage a punch would do
7.5% as common as a punch
    4.95% of your total DoT

Adding 86% to 4.95% of your total DoT amounts to a 4.25% increase in DoT.. I didn't do fSTR in this calculation but it's such an extreme difference it won't change anything.

    Simplified again:

    dune boots(4.25%), jumps(4.5%) = 8.75% damage over time, 4.5% tp over time
    vs
double attack, 18 accuracy, 35 attack, 13 str, 13 store tp, 5 subtle blow, 32 evasion

double attack is 10% damage over time, 10% tp over time

    simplified again:

    blank
    vs
1.25% damage over time, 5.5% tp over time(remainder from DA)
    8 accuracy, 35 attack, 13 str, 13 store tp, 5 subtle blow, 32 evasion

I'd go with the /war, lulz.

Not to mention the 7 Store TP on it should be enough to, assuming non-bad WS TP returns, push you over from the 99 you're getting.

    Just a thought.
Thanks very much for answering, unfortunately I don't have an end game LS at the moment due to my Salvage static being during prime event time.

Cor's DoT is not garbage when well geared, it may not be the highest, but a well geared cor can easily out damage a sub-par or even average DD, which may not mean much, but it is far from worthless

ive used both mkris and joyeuse, in merits, solo, and EG events, such as dynamis, limbus, and einherjar i have 0 sword merits, and 8/8 dagger merits, and i have to say, Mkris is garbage for anything higher then T, you will hit for 0 far too often, give the mob much more tp, and even though your atatcking faster, your DPS with m.Kris is 2.5, while your DPS with joyeuse is 9.38

even with a 100% triple attack rate M.Kris would be at 7.5dps which doesnt even touch joyeuse's pre-double attack dps

joy = 1.5x as many attacks as a plain weapon with it's delay
merc kris = 2x as many
merc kris gives more tp and has 16 free skill from just base caps.. nice to have when COR isn't ever likely to cap hitrate
Your DPS with merc kris is 5, joy's is 14.07.. very true and a good point. However, your weaponskill damage is a large percent of your overall damage and getting more tp means doing more weaponskills.. the gap between the 2 is not very big. I said merc kris is acceptable, not that it'd outparse joy or anything, and it is an acceptable weapon. I'd much rather have a COR using merc kris than one of the morons with fire/vulcan's staff or trailer's kukri.

When the earring first came out and I was a wee ps2 noober, years ago, I picked one up cheap (haste builds weren't a big thing back then, as I recall) and did Mnk/Drg at 30 for 9% haste cause I didn't have War past 10.

Did Mnk/War10 to 30 in one party, and was playing with other jobs, I didn't realize how awesome berserk was... but I got some laughs out of my "FLYING DRAGON BURNING JUMP KICK HAAAA!" macro for Jump.

your assuming that merc kris is hitting for more then 1 dmg per hit, as 0 dmg = 0 tp, and even with merits you will be hitting any mob stronger then tough, including piercing weak mobs, for 0 dmg, also evry hit you land on a mob that gives you tp is giving the mob 10+tp you gained, since corsair has no native subtle blow, and you should be using /war or /rng, which means that your hitting the mobs for ~0-10 dmg, compared to joyeuse where you will always hit for 10+

after a week of using a friends mkris at evry event, i was actually getting tp slower, then with joyeuse and i was parsing lower (less tp gained, less dmg per hit)

its fun for soloing though, anything T or weaker (most zeni mobs) get owned by it (slugshot spam, lots of tp before i have to sleep the mob to recast utsu and wait for timers to reset)

TP you gain +3, not 10 + TP you gained.

Spells give 10 TP flat as I recall.

again, i didn't say joyeuse was better ... and if you're hitting 0s on anything piercing weak you're doing it wrong - naked taru cor with a dagger has 291 base attack and 54 STR.. merit level mobs have 320-350 defense and max at lv83(mamool). A level 83 mob with 70 VIT and 350 defense will put you at the lower cap of -1 fSTR, or base dmg:3. You need a level corrected cratio of .945 to guarantee pdif above .4, meaning a ratio of 1.345. 350 * 1.4 = ~470 attack to guarantee you'll never hit 0s on the highest possible level mamool in bhaflau(even 400ish will mean far more hits above 0 than actual 0s). Using standardish gear, you gain 4 attack from dusk ledelsens, gloves neutralize swift belt, 16 from amemet+1, 14 from dusk trousers.. you have 325 attack. Adding chaos roll, about 15% without a DRK or 25% with one, that becomes 374 or 406. At mamools, you should either have meat or berserk.. either of which will push you close to or past the breaking point for 0 becoming impossible.

I am not saying mercurial kris is better than joyeuse. I said it's an acceptable weapon, and it is.

    It's roughly:

    Sachet:
    1.33 D + 1atk

    vs.

    Bibiki:
    1.66 D

    Simplified: (Sachet) 1atk vs. (Seashell) .33 D

If it was me, I'd choose Amano, but I'm biased towards Sam. I don't use Drk much, except to zerg.

I haven't seen these weapons in action, but making one of the best DD better would be a safe choice imo.

    Elvaan RDM:
    Penitent's Rope or Forest Rope?
    Goliard Cuffs or Yigit Gages?
    Goliard Clogs or Avocat Pigaches?

I assume the latter 2 are macro'd situationally, but figured I'd ask anyways.

Penitent's rope. You might want the forest rope to get a better convert ratio though~

Use goliard cuffs, since I'm assuming you don't have zenith. On things like paralyze though, where you're going for potency, I'd use the yigit.

I say go with goliard clogs. They have mnd and macc on them. You should have enough enfeebling skill without them that you can land things on most mobs.

Edit: I'm retarded, and answered as if you were talking about blm. Fixed. -.-

penitent's rope for anything but convert, forest rope for convert
devotee's mitts+1 for debuffs, goliard for nukes, look into getting zenith to replace goliard(better for convert ratio and inventory+1 if you don't have to carry a convert piece as well as a nuking piece there)
mahatma/morrigan's pigaches for slow/para/cures, goliard for nuking and all other debuffs

MNK/DRG isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
vs. /WAR it's actually about equal on paper.

You're trading 10% DA and berserk 60% of the time, whatever minimal boost from warcry (+hate)
for 10 acc, 5% haste, 1 free attack round every minute (2+1 jumps in 3 minutes), and a small amount of hate shedding.

/DRG is an undervalued sub at 75.
