Homam is not a option at this point.
NQ Dusk is better overall, assuming you aren't kiting. If you really need Enmity you can macro in other gloves, like AF or Relic if you don't already have Askar. Askar is free though, so you can't beat the price. Looks nicer too, if that is something you care about.

Homam is the obvious best choice for almost all PLD/NIN situations, but you seem to already understand that.

Some people like /RDM in Dynamis if you have enough refresh. Useful for curing a BLM after sleepga and then rotating barspells so that all the slept mobs come after you instead of sleepers.

What's better for drg Penta Thrust (with capped merit and ele gorget): Wyrm Armet (Str+4 and enchance wyvern breath) or O-Hat?

Ok just got wyrm belt from dynamis burburimu. This is my gear set up for drakesbane

    - FFXIAH.com

Does this setup look ok or do you think i should replace flame ring with ulthalams ring and then swap wyrm belt for warwolf. or just go with flame and warwolf and use ohat? So many options i cant think of what would be better in most situations. i dont want to overkill accuracy since drgs have high accuracy already, but drakesbane is critical base so dont want to lose alot of dex either.
oh yea 7/8 polearm merits also

Change Wyrm to Warwolf and use Assault Earring instead of Minuet Earring. You'll get ~1 less ACC in exchange for ~+1 ATT, +4 STR, and +4 DEX.

Entirely dependent on your ACC. If you can land 5/5 Penta at a high rate, then Wyrm Armet is better. You can also use Wyvern helm for +5 STR and macro Wyrm in for the Breath attack.

Dusk is only better for Utsusemi. For everything else Askar and Homam are better.

As for DRK and WAR, I used both my Askar and my Dusk on WAR. They're comparable and situationally better than each other, depending on total haste and acc. The more acc and haste you have, the better Dusk is.

I use /WAR currently, but that is my only sub job available besides /DNC. What would be the recommended sub job for such an activity in Dynamis, so I know which to level and which to use?

/WAR - Gives Provoke and Defender
/NIN - Gives Utsusemi for added survivability, Gimped NIN Enfeebles for minor hate gain
/DRK - Gives Stun, which is equal to Flash in terms of VE and CE, Sleep, and a few low level enfeebles for hate generation, as well as two JAs that generate a nice VE spike.
/BLU - Nice Defensive Spells, two AoE Sleep spells that generate a fair amount of CE, and Head Butt.
/WAR for cities, realistically. A nice 'all purpose' subjob for Dynamis.

/NIN potentially for a lowish man Xarcabard. Harder to keep hate, but wonderful for the NMs that hit hard. /WAR works here too though.

/DRK if you have massive support. Like, a fulltime BRD, RDM, and WHM watching you. Will have awesome hate potential, but fewer tools to save you if things go wrong.

I have never seen /BLU in Dynamis yet, so I really cant comment on it. I would assume its playstyle similiar to a hybrid between /NIN and /DRK.
If your shell will give it a try, use war assists in cities. As long as your BRDs are on the ball with elegy, any DD can tank city mobs fine :/ RDM or BLM can toss grav->t3->sleep on mnk mobs and let their 2hr waste itself while the DD kill other mobs since those are the only threatening ones.. it's much more efficient than wasting slots on PLDs especially if you lowman. If people have PLD only, /nin in DD gear using flash on each mob just to establish target works well also.

Assassin's cape vs. Cerb/Foragers/AM+1 for solo SA & TA?

Seems like it might be close, with the str/atk capes pulling ahead?

In dynamis, /WAR is fine and actually very helpful. For other endgame activities you will need to become familiar with /NIN. Read around and make sure you understand how it works and how to gear it, it takes a different approach.

I did the math in different situations of Commander's Cape vs Forager's Mantle awhile ago (though I don't have it at hand and can't be bothered replicating it right now) and it seemed that at best, Commander's Cape would be slightly better but most of the time be the same or even worse for +1inv and -gil.

Assassin's Cape is slightly different in that you have 3 less str but 1 more of the relevant stat which isn't a big deal on SA, but with AF+1 hands with TA you may find it just about wins out. The less buffed you are, the more Forager's etc is better compared to the Assassin's Cape though.

Basically, low-buff I would expect Forager's to win anyway, then as you get more and more buffed I would expect Assassin's Cape to get better with TA first, then SA a little bit afterwards (if this makes any sense).

Both give the mob too much TP to be generally useful in Salvage. WAR should bring gaxe as well to use on the (lots of) mobs that have problematic WS (gears, chariots, POROGGO, undead, flayers, ...). RNG should stand back and shoot on those mobs, and so can't be one of the two DD/tanks in a low-man run.

This is like the fourth time I've seen this query in the past week. I have trouble believing that a pimped Kraken RNG using Culvern / Shells would lose to a pimped Ridill WAR in anything you've listed, especially on a parser because Slug Shot cheats.

If you Slug Shot a mob at 1% for 2200 damage, your damage on the parse increases by 2200 damage. If you did the same with Rampage, you'd only get the first hit's worth of damage.

Both give the mob too much TP to be generally useful in Salvage
On Chariots/Madames/Gears/etc sure; on everything else, no reason not to.

Your assumption that everyone in the Dynamis shell is intelligent is admirable (and that we have enough people to keep the kill speed lower). I've seen other DDs try to be the /assist focus in the times the PLD(s) are down, and it's laughable. A single provoke or flash usually isn't enough to keep hate unless you are willing to sacrifice kill speed because the mages have to stun/bind/sleep/gravity instead of just straight nuking. Not to mention MNK mobs become infinitely harder if you cant just Shield Bash --> Reprisal --> Sentinel them away. And when the /assist melee does start getting his ass beaten, hate always transfers to the WHM when the eventual cure bomb comes. I wasn't impressed at all with what I saw in the situations when this came up.

Now, I will agree with you that given enough people in the run, and a smart player as the /assist target, a WAR would be just fine in cities assuming you had the kill power to make sure it died before hate eventually transitions. We usually only have about one alliance of people though, so it gets tougher to shed that 'security blanket' that a PLD /assist provides.

We always ran with about one alliance and it never created problems. Gravity + a single t3 + sleep comes out to about 170 mp and RDMs can do it too.. you only need to bother with it on pulls including MNKs. With 18 people, a single DD with BRD+COR buffs adds far more damage than 170 mp of nukes per mnk mob(not to mention that's still damage..). You're not supposed to keep hate, you're supposed to get hate off of the mages until a DD weaponskills, same as a merit party. As far as the security blanket thing, a PLD is more acceptable with 30 people when one DD isn't going to add to your killspeed any significant amount.. I would recommend a PLD or 2 in any large group, but no reason to lower your potential damage output by that much for a tiny amount of security when lowmanning.

    What Thorny said.
There is no real use for PLDs in city dynamis (or Beaucedine if you wish) unless your Dyna LS in...gimped etc?
Dont need a WAR or someone wirh Provoke either, we've done city Dynamis with DRG/SAM & DRK/SAM main assist, and MNKs are still no problem, just need a Stun and all unload WSs when you see Hundred Fists :D
That being said, we still use PLD in 90% of all cases for Dynamis, but DD style with Berserks and melee food, just saying PLD isnt "needed" and usually a wasted slot for city Dynamis if your other members are decently geared.
