    5/5 Begressor Vs 3/3/4

Considering Berserk adds 125atk and Acc isn't capped without aggressor.

It seems like 25acc 125atk 20 secs faster every round would beat out 4 Da's every 100 hits with GA at least. Thanks for any feedback.

    5 DA/2bergressor, 1 wherever you want.

    Using your attack values:

    Unmerited:

    180/300 * 125 ~= 75 attk
    180/300 * 25 ~= 15 acc

    Full merits:

    180/250 * 125 ~= 90 attk
    180/250 * 25 ~= 18 acc

So, putting 5 merits into Berserk is roughly equal to +15 attack. Putting 5 merits into aggressor is roughly equal to +3 accuracy.

Would you really choose 3 accuracy over 5 DA? Would you choose 3 attack over 1 DA? Pretty sure both of those aren't very good tradeoffs.

5 DA for sure, 2 in Bergressor if you want to keep the cd the same, and put the last point somewhere random (lol warcry?)

Even 4/3/3 is inferior to 5/2/2. At that point, you're giving up 1 DA for +3 attk and .6 accuracy.

How are you getting these numbers? Aggressor adds 25 acc and Berserk 125atk (atm for my setup). 4% Da is only going to add 4 extra swings per 100 unless I'm missing something.

In the usual merit pt I get about 600-1000 melee swings atm depending on duration of the pt and buffs. A little more explanation without math would be nice.

180 is the 3min duration (in seconds). 300 is the cooldown base.

180/300 is the "uptime" of the buff base. It is up for 60% of the time. Averaging out 125 attk that is only up 60% of the time, you have .6*125 + .4*0 = .6*125 (or 180/300 * 125) for an average of 75 attack.

5 merits lowers the cooldown to 250 seconds, giving 180/250 or 72% uptime (increase of 12% uptime).

So my numbers are the "average" attack or "average" accuracy gained from said merits. 5 merits in aggressor is giving you an average of +3 accuracy. 5 merits in berserk is giving you an average of +15 attack. That's .6 accuracy per point, or +3 attack per point.

With 5 merits the uptime is 180 seconds and the cooldown is 70 seconds. I think you are missing something here with your math. With 5/5 the recast would be 70 seconds once they wear off. I think you are using the base of 300 and 250 when in reality they would only be down for 70 seconds per round.

    No, he isn't.

180 active/300 between activation base. 180 active / 250 between activation with merits. 250-180=70, the downtime of 70 seconds after merits is represented accurately.

Full merits is 180/250 = 72% uptime, or if you prefer, 70/250 = 28% down time.

    Same thing either way.

Actually I should have thought of those two capes first. I'll probably nix the Ixion Cape since it is pretty much to fluff my e-peen. Gleemans and Aslan Capes are pretty damn good. @_@

    For one, you're wrong.

    For two, 180+120 = 300, 180+70 = 250.

However you want to look at it, your uptime percentage is uptime/(uptime+downtime), or 180/300 vs 180/250. That percentage can be multiplied by the amount of the buff to get the average value of the buff.

It is exactly what I said it was.

1% DA vs 3 attack vs .6 accuracy is 1 merit.
5% DA vs 15 attack vs 3 accuracy is all 5 merits.

5/5 DA is hands down the best thing you can do. After that, personal preference/gear/etc come into play. Whether or not you want to keep the timers always lined up, how useful the 25 accuracy is to you (should take most everyone past cap - meaning you want to drop accuracy in your gear when aggressor is up), etc.

If you can find a decent Einherjar linkshell it will take you just over 2 Odin cycles to get 15k ichor, so a month to get both items. Seems far better than spending 2.5m (what it costs on shiva atleast) on an item that doesn't have whitebox and is no better than free alternatives.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't calling you wrong really, I just thought you may have been using the wrong numbers to find those averages. Personally I do adjust my gear for aggressor so that I don't go over the cap, but I wanted to know how 5/5 would stand up to 3/3/4.

Anyways, I still don't see how 4 extra hits per 100 would beat 25acc 125atk for 20 secs every buff round, but I guess I'll take your advice and save the 18 merit points it would take to change to 5/5.

Yea, my LS does Einherjar regularly. So it shouldn't be all that hard. It just makes it hard what to get next since my first purchase from Einherjar was Omega ring. I currently have around 13k or so Therion Ichor and torn between getting Morrgana's Collar, Aslan's Cape or Gleeman's Cape.

Timers lined up is a lazyman's argument. Most people that merit aggressor don't have stuff like blitz ring to macro in. Berserk is 25% damage (more on higher level targets), Aggressor is at most like 15%ish.

Ixion cape is a lot better than Gleeman. If you look at the +/- MP, 40 is huge difference. Although, Ixion is still a bit pricy, but if you have gil or other Einherjar item to get and don't have RDM (since RDM can't wear Ixion), you should go for other items instead of getting gleeman.

quick one guys, outside of assualt. iota ring or ulthalam's ring for sam, assuming not capped acc. im questioning the +dex(crit) vs +atk and the acc(+5.25 vs +4). i know iota is better for solo on /dnc and i have both.

How much the +Dex affects your crit rate depends on what mob you're fighting. On merit level mobs, if you've already broken your crit tier (I believe it's +10 Dex over mob Agi, feel free to correct me on this), then yes it's a nice bonus. If not, then it won't do jack for you aside from adding acc (which you already took into account).

Taking the crit rate aside, we're comparing 4 attack 4 acc vs 5.25 acc on a 2-hander. Which, depending on your current Dex, will come out to either 5 or 6 acc, not a partial point. 4 attack vs 1 or 2 acc. Since you're assuming uncapped acc, I'd personally take the Iota over the Uthalaum's. Especially if your Dex in TP gear with Iota is divisible by 4 (meaning the Ring gives you 6 acc). Sniper's+1, Toreadors, and Mars's will all win over Iota though. And Uthalaum's in assault/salvage.

Blm and Rdm here(rdm 2nd account) i have the G cape on my blm main account. My rdm now has P cape, however I have never seen my blm run out of mp ever. I use it for almost any end game event.

Dyna with or without a bard or rdm in my pt I never run out of mp lol. Gods(i guess maybe I have run out? but 40mp please.) the price is not worth it. Get the eij back and be done with it. I see that back of a E-Peen more. Can not just throw gil at it.

And what other items would you go after? Gleeman is one of the best items you can get. I am now saving up to get the O ring next.

Ixion is 2.5mil gil thrown away for 40mp that a blm never will use.

To ask something though, With my job combo atm smn rdm whm blm sam bard(59 atm) I am= thinking of picking up some other job, what you think fits better into that set of jobs. I want to make it where i can fill almost any roll any time. sch or Ranger. I like sam but tbh Blm is my fav job so i feel like I would be better off with sch(it also seems to be more along the lines of *fill any roll* type of thing..

edit: I Like to point you to her sig, unless her linkshell just gave her the AF2 body for rdm for fun and lulz, I would say she has rdm lvled

Back on the topic of WAR merits... I was thinking of going 5DA/Berserk. Would it be better to just go 5/2/2?

I have RDM and BLM both. Which is why I asked if those two sea capes could replace a prism cape in functionality. >.o And I rarely do run out of MP during Dynamis or any event when I'm on BLM. So yea I guess I'll just nix the Ixion Cape since it is to expensive for just 40 MP.

    Thanks~

Aslan and Gleeman's should definately come before Morgana's unless you are pld as the 5 mnd can easily be replaced by promise badge.

Personally I'd go with Gleeman's if using blm often, and ignore the comment about 40mp being huge, it won't be and you normally end up burning extra mp buffing before nuking anyway.

    I want Morgana's/Ritter for Pld.

65 HP worth of swap into a piece with +3 Enm = hot.
