    Your Acc seems rather low for a mutli-hit in that set imo, I would make a few changes like N.Body > Haub(+1), maybe add an acc ring in one of the two slots. I also use Potent over Warwolf for KJ until I can manage a Warrior's Stone, but I don't have room for GAxe merits so I try to gear for a bit more Acc.

    Also Perdu Voulge if you're high enough rank.

    Yeah I notice some bad TP returns at times.

    I use to have 8/8 Gaxe merits but I can not stop taking out combat merits and reworking them. I will be re-adding those soon, Perdu is 1 rank away so I'm pumped to be getting that soon but for now I just have the byakkos anyways.

    but I do TP in Hauberk +1 so Hauberk +1 > Hecatomb harness?

    other then a cuch mantle/heca feet what else do you see that can improve KJ?

    Thx

    This is my KJ setup that I use and I don't often have acc/return issues eating meat/4 G.Axe merits, even with the Alky's (ridiculous the other gear I have for my WAR but still haven't managed to get N.Hands :\...would probably still keep Alky's for KJ though).

    Warrior's belt is sweet if you can get that from dynamis. Aside from that, just Heca feet really. Other things seem to have already been mentioned.

    Edit: Actually I'm an idiot and neglected the fact that you already mentioned Heca feet. What food do you eat? If you're having accuracy problems you can pop a Marinara Pizza(+1) and get acc without sacrificing attack from food completely.

    Edit again, sorry: Maybe instead of swapping a STR ring for an acc ring, you might swap those legs for haidate? The 15 DEX will lend more acc for a similar loss in STR (assuming you intend to swap to 5 STR ring sometime in the future.)

    Damn heca cap...

    Warrior's belt is a whiles away but yeah would be a great piece to have

    I use pizza. The ACC thing is more of a bird thing my KJ are generally in the 750+ - 900 range and good ones are around 1k-1.3k Idk if this is normal KJ, but it feels like I should be doing a lot better?

    I mean the problem is if I miss 2 hits then woosh DMG goes from 800+ to 200-300 DMG but I'm not sure what I should be giving up in my WS set to improve it.

    I would think if you were averaging around 800-900 on birds you would be doing just fine considering you lose food so damn often, but I haven't really gotten a chance to use my WAR on them much as I have BRD at 75 so I can't really confirm with my own numbers.

    If you're really interested in performance on birds, somewhere into the future when you have your G.Axe whatnots figured out you could look into capping out polearm and trying to go for a Penta Thrust setup when you camp there. WAR has the same polearm rating as a SAM. I haven't done this yet personally as I'm still trying to finish G.Axe, but just a thought.

    Nah I don't care THAT much about WAR on bird. I do fine on other things when I can pop pizza.

    I'm just annoyed that I keep improving on my gear or w/e but yet some dude in full AF2 or using some kinda silly gear just pulls out higher DMG WS and it's like wtf.

    But now i'm curious about this Hauberk +1 vs. Hecatomb harness? 6 STR vs 6 DEX, 6 ACC, and 16 ATT or so on a 50% STR mod WS?

    Berk +1 vs Nbody is basically 6.5 Acc, 7.5 Att vs 1.5 WS mod, 1.5 fStr, I ws in Haidate personally, and Ulth ring since no Rajas/simple to leave it on if I'm in assault areas.

    So...

    18.5~ Acc, 22.25~ Att, 15 Str from Berk +1/AF2 legs/Ruby ring
    vs
    25.5~ Acc, 13 Att, 12 Str from Nbody/haidate/Ulth ring

    This is my current setup, nothing outstanding, just centered around keeping the average damage high.

    Obviously I'm lacking gorget (have Snow for RR/SC), better ear swap, better rings, better legs, so if I had the means and was concerned about the optimal setup, I'd shoot for this.

    It's alright. Having a giant taru head is like having a big purse. Seems like a good idea at first cause you can carry more in it, but in the end shit just ends up getting mixed around and lost. :\

    Its not really advice for KJ in particular, but since everything else has already been covered, I would like to suggest the best single change you could do to your WAR, is getting a Rajas Ring. Stop loving your PLD so much. I was in your same situation months ago, but, at the end of the day, there is no way you can justify Sattva (with the several other ring options you can macro for each action) over a Rajas for a 2 Hand melee.

    For Mystic Boon, 30%STR & 50%MND, what is a rough ratio of when to use which? Like, 10 STR versus 6 MND would be equal (3 dmg?), except for two things:

    • STR also adds attack and, at certain points, DMG
    -and-
    • they're rounded down, so you might not get exactly 30% or 50% of what you add

    (do I have all that right?)

    So what's the best way to account for these, and still have a decent ratio guideline? I'm hoping someone really smart with math can combine all of it for me.

    (lots of different slot options, but I might just "what's better" several of them in another post)

    I love you guys, this is prolly the best thread in the world.

    fSTR makes STR mod slightly above MND mod, point for point, before even adding attack. In general, I would say 1 mnd gives 90-95% as much overall damage as 1 STR. Yes, they're rounded down, but I wouldn't worry too much about figuring out exactly where.. just use whichever piece has the better stats.

    I always like it when you ask questions, always so well structured and stuff. I'll explain it~

    STR potentially adds both fSTR and WSC (weaponskill mod), whereas MND only potentially adds WSC. As you said, STR also has the secondary benefit of attack.

    fSTR

    For every 4 points of STR above monster's VIT, generally speaking, fSTR will increase by 1.
    Therefore, 3 points of STR will raise fSTR by 1 75% of the time (assuming there is an equal distribution of VIT between mobs if you can see what I mean). 2STR = fSTR+1 50% of the time etc.

    WSC

    At level 75,

    WSC = floor (floor((A x A%) + (B x B%)) x α)

    α (Alpha) = 0.83 at 75
    A = Stat
    A% = WSC% of A
    B = Stat
    B% = WSC% of B

    So for instance using your example above, 10STR vs 6MND, pretending you have 75 of each stat beforehand;

    10STR = +2.5 fSTR
    WSC (85STR) = floor (floor((85 * 30%) + (75 * 50%)) * 0.83)
    = 52

    So this combination gives you +54.5 BD, knowing of course that it doesn't give you a .5, but that actually means 50% of the time you'll get +54BD and 50% of the time you'll get +55BD.

    WSC(85MND) = floor (floor((75 * 30%) + (85 * 50%)) * 0.83)
    = 53

    So in this case, 10str > 6mnd.

    WSC does not vary from mob to mob. This means you can work out the gains of secondary (non-STR/DEX) stats like MND without having to worry about mob VIT or anything.

    Generally speaking, 10str will beat 6mnd most of the time, but you can use the above to work it out~

    10 STR will beat 6 MND all of the time, even before looking at fSTR you're comparing 3 base damage to 3 base damage and the STR comes with attack <_< you're overcomplicating it, in all reasonable situations adding 1 STR will beat adding 1 MND, but not by enough to consider 1 str over 2 mnd ever :X

    When you're adding up your WSC values from mod a + mod b. The decimal, do you round it down AFTER you add the 2 numbers or before? Also, can you use this to find out for example whether going HQ in one slot and gaining 1 more CHR for example if the mod was that would not raise ur WSC, so no point in wasting the gil?

    Before, according to wiki :

    WSC = floor (floor((A x A%) + (B x B%)) x α)

    Does that what floor means? if so, then wouldn't it be [ floor (a+b) x alpha]floor again. So add the 2 numbers, floor it, multiply by .83, floor once again?
