    Re: Whats better?

I'd just like to say that "Man/Ram" sounds even more flaming than "Man/Joy". Not, of course, that there's anything wrong with that.

Edit: and yeah, I use Maneater/Temperance when my BST main is allowed out of the closet. It's a great combo, unless of course you're in a solo situation where you want to hold TP (not that all solo situations are like that; I knew a BST who would solo merits at 75 in Bibiki Bay as /NIN and WS every time he hit 100%, co-tanking with his pet so it lived long enough. He had some Dusk+1 stuff...he also offhanded a Kclub. Rather um...edgy solo style, but he certainly made it work. I duo'd with him once and just felt like a leech. His first WS was usually Gale Axe, both to add Choke and to not pull too much hate off the bat.)

Can always use it to impress the girls. "Hey baby, wanna see my Man/Ram?".

Dunno if you'd want to tell her about the low delay though. Might spoil your chances, hehehe.

Is Osode always better than Heca Body for Steel Cyclone?

Should Steel Cyclone only be used when paired with Sneak Attack?

For all things high defense, when not in a skillchain, is Steel Cyclone always better than Raging Rush?

    Yes, not quite, and usually.

10 VIT should easily outdo 2 STR, even with the STR itself being a mod.

Steel Cyclone is beastly at high TP, when DA'd, or when Critted, so, if you've got 2~300%, WC, SA, or the first two in combination with MS, go with Steel Cyclone. 300+WC+MS is just fun, though I'm still trying to break 3k ;; RR is even with it or beats it with just MS up though (also depends on mob).

RR's damage depends heavily on how often you crit and the defense of the mob. SC's is pretty consistent unless you DA or force-crit. If you've got massive DEX and Critup, RR may still outdo SC on average, but good luck breaking the tier on anything with high defense. My RR still beats SC on Salvage chariots (one of the tanks, so fully geared, but not much of a DEX build), so use that as some kind of reference I guess.

If the new tests are correct, Gorgets will always be better than PCC on WS, even if only slightly.

Originally it was speculated that it only added ACC to the first hit, but people are currently leaning to it adding 10ACC on all hits plus adding some damage.

    Re: Whats better?

Adds PCC acc + 0.1 fTP boost on first hit, so it gives the largest boost to single hitters, but still adds a unique bonus over a PCC assuming you land the first swing.

For monk TP and WS, Charjer mantle v Forager mantle, assuming coins are not a problem to get.

    Re: Whats better?

With the lower amount of "ideal" Str options for monk, I'm a little baffled by the prevalence of Charger mantles in so many top tier gearsets, given the way fStr boosts a lower base damage by more relative to a higher base damage weapon, I'd lean towards the 3 Str over 5 Attack assuming I could eat meat/swing good acc.

I would agree with you, Max. I don't understand using Charger's Mantle over Forager's either for the exact reasoning you're using there.

Whats better.. /thf Flee (+200% movement speed for 30sec out of every 5 min), or +12% movement speed full-time (i.e sprinters shoes) for travelling?

Obviously, it depends on how far you are going.. the shorter the distance, the more it will favour flee, but at what distance (if any) will the +12% win out?

This is a really weird question, because if you can get both, you can use both. <_>

It's also solved by simple mathematics.

From 0 to 250 seconds, the person with Flee will be ahead. From 250 seconds to 300 seconds, the person with +12% movement speed will gain distance on the person with Flee. Once Flee is popped again, however, the person with +12% will fall behind. The difference this time though is that the person with Flee has that tiny bit of extra distance to cover to catch back up with the person with +12%, who has increased the gap.

Over the course of an EXTREMELY long run, +12% will consistently beat Flee, but by a VERY small amount. The person with Flee will burst ahead on every use until the person with +12% movement speed gains enough extra distance during the cooldown to equal the distance that the person with Flee covers during the 30 seconds that it's up.

    Re: Whats better?

Never timed it exactly, but I'm relatively certain that over a long enough distance Flee with af feet and 12% are the same.

    /Thf would ultimately lose out.

You go twice as fast for 15% (45/300) of the time, which means you cover 15% more distance in the same time. Effectively the same as +15% movement speed.

Without AF feet, you go twice as fast for 10% (30/300) of the time, covering 10% more distance. The same, therefore, as +10% movement speed.

    Sprinters effectively split the difference.

    Re: Whats better?

WAR about to ding into the 70's and looking for gear suggestions. Going to be an AH WAR since I don't have a lot of end game gear (namely kitty pants</3) but it will just be used for meriting purposes, don't plan on using it elsewhere.

    TP
    Main:Woodsvile
    Sub:Maneater

    Re: Whats better?

Use Great Axe and sub SAM. If you can't sub SAM, still use Great Axe. Great Axe will dominate Axe/Axe, especially with mediocre gear.

    Re: Whats better?

I guess throw that in there too, I have a Byakko's Axe (failed haidate jacking from the gilsellers), and my SAM leveled. Fortitude Torque as well. Saving up my IS now for the Perdu Voulge or the blade, undecided.

    Re: Whats better?

Now that is an instance where voulge should shine, the better your gear, the less of a bump it is compared to rampager.

    Re: Whats better?

Then why even consider using Axes?

    TP
    Main:Byakko's until Rampager/Perdu
    Subole or Claymore Strap
    Ammo:Fire Bomblet / Bomb Core
    Head:Walahra Turban until Askar
    Neck:Fort Torque
Ear1:Brutal Earring (fixed that for you)
    Ear2:Assault Earring
    Body:Haubergeon
    Hands:Dusk Gloves
Ring1:Woodsman (if you have Ulthalam's, wear it in this slot)
Ring2:Woodsman (if you have Rajas, wear it in this slot)
    Back:Amemet+1
    Waist:Swift Belt
    Legs:Exorcist
    Feet: Dusk Boots

    WS
    Ammo:Fire Bomblet/Core
Head:Optical Hat (need to know what your options are here, there's a lot that's better)
    Neck:Snow Gorget
    Ear1:Brutal Earring
    Ear2:Fowling Earring
    Body:Haubergeon
Handsallas's Bracelets (read arguments against DEX for crit WS)
    Ring1:Rajas
    Ring2:Ulthalam's or Flame
    Back:Amemet+1
    Waist:Warwolf
    Legs:Exorcist
Feet: Amir Boots (options here? Hecatomb, Askar, Ares, even maybe Barone/Conte)

    Re: Whats better?

Aqua also works, and honestly, I'd lean towards AF(+1) hands over Pallas, or just an Acc hands, SFG, AF2 hands, anything but Pallas's for RR.
