if you geared for 6shit on drg, bring up extra TPbonus irrelavent. the gain is still gonna be 4hitx2jumps 100~ without any bonus vs 110~/114~(stryder n borone gear). after ws can add like 4tp, unless you get that extra DA off the ws or have some SAM roll to just blow this out of the water.
Interested to see thoughts/ math comparing these 2 builds of KC RNG and Yoichi SAM mainly in terms of WS frequency/ melee dmg. (Assuming bird camp, and not worrying about ws builds/ dmg, mp sponging etc.)
I haven't had a chance to test the KC build yet, so I was hoping someone who uses something similar could fill me in on the ws/melee split - guessing its somewhere between 90/10 and 80/20. I know with Yoichi SAM/DRG its almost always close to a 70/30 split, give or take a couple of % points based on Jump/ High Jump dmg. Also need to factor in the extra Soboro procs/ TP return on Jumps/ High Jumps in terms of WS frequency.

Not necessarily. Drg/sam is one of the jobs that make great use of the extra tp.
Assuming 28 store tp during TP. And connecting all 4 hits with drakesbane with 28 store tp (assuming aurum body being the WS body):
1) 20.6 tp after WS > 17 per regular hit x 4 > First tick of meditate = 100.6 WS (can't do with cletin)
2) 20.6 tp after WS > 17 per regular hit x 2 > Jump (with 21 stp and baron leg) 23.4 tp > high jump 23.4 tp = 101.4 (can't do with cletin)
3) Meditate from 0-60 > Jump 23.4 > high jump 23.4 = 106.8 (can't do with cletin)
Just a few examples, pretty sure there are more. Alot of ppl think jump and multi hit ws and meditate make drg true 6 hit irrelevant, but the truth is, those thing make extra tp good for occasional 100% that you otherwise wouldn't have. Even with sam roll, there will also be occasions where skystrider sits at 100% tp while cletin sits at 96%, and very rarely vice versa. That to me should be worth the price. Not to mention your WS is critical based on TP. 105% drakesbane will average higher than 100% drakesbane always (if I am not mistaken, 5% tp is 1% critical for this particular WS).
I know for sure I will miss skystrider's tp bonus on jumps if I ever get V.Fork.
Are you sure the best option isn't a KC sam? You can get way more haste than the rng/nin, or just a little bit more with similar accuracy. In either case, you have significantly more storeTP.
Even if you want to go with KC rng, why /nin if you dont care about mp sponge? Either /drg and add a wyvern, or /war for zerk.
I'm willing to bet KC SAM doesn't get TP that significantly faster than Soboro SAM on account of Hasso and skill difference.
Yea with a 6hit, Hasso, and capped haste I don't think it would top Soboro SAM. Not to mention you would be forced to eat sushi which would put a hefty dent in Namas dmg. One of my goals in this was to see how much ground the melee dmg from Soboro would make up for the *possible* increase in WS's from the KC RNG. I suppose it would be more optimal to look at them both as /DRG. The haste difference would still be largely in favor of the Hasso SAM build.
Edit: Really trying to see which of these would have the highest potential for overall dmg in a merit setting. Once you factor in things like feather tickle, mp sponging, slugshot accuracy compared to Namas acc etc, I would think the Soboro SAM would pull a decent chunk ahead, but I would like to see how close they are from raw potential as well.
i have zahaks mail, askar body and rajas + /sam, debating which is better for me to use
cletine v thal?
not great at working out the stp for 6hit etc, with either weapon so needing some help.
if it's at all relevant, i got snipers +1, can get myself cuch mantle, and have the rest of the standard gear, i.e. homam, but no aurum, which i'd rather stay that way due to how annoying ZNMs are for me!
edit: i guess to put my question clearer, with the gear i have, whats the best option for me, fulltiming askar body for the stp, fulltiming zahaks and ditching the cletine idea etc
You are going to come up just short of a true 6Hit with the Cletine build. Thal will have 6hit with Askar Body, Rajas, /SAM, Brutal.
Thal 6hit until Aurum, then Cletine
KC SAM would have severe accuracy issues even with 2 accuracy bonuses. I have to spam Crab Sushi on my KC RNG.
If I understand what you're saying, you want to compare Cletine + Zahaks v Thalasso + Askar Body. Thalasso + Askars would be the better choice due to DRG's lack of Crit-Hit Build and 6-Hit Capability. However, that's assuming you have Brutal Earring as well for the 1sTP.
Edit: Cletine is short of a 6-Hit Build unless you use Aurum (Which you want to avoid?) + Brutal + Rajas + Sub SAM + Extra sTP Piece of gear.
So for a straight blood tanking build for holding/kiting shit as dnc when popping fan dance, is the dmg resist on darksteel gear better than much higher defense pieces like dusk?
I know they're good for running style kiting on magic using mobs since dusk has the whole movement speed thing, but I've found for straight melee mobs, with fan dance up I can just sit and stare at the thing as it valiantly attempts to hit me for 20s and 30s.
Note this is not kiting mobs for being attacked and DoT, this is simply holding adds in various fights like BCNMs while groups take out other mobs.
In other words, whats better, darksteel legs/body/head or dusk legs/body/head, or are there even better pieces?
To compare the /DRG build to your /NIN build: /DRG KC RNG
-2 Accuracy, +9% Haste
I still think that SAM would win out, but that's a much friendlier build, in my opinion, to favor use of the KC.
For a black belt mnk with no Byakko's Haidate, shura legs, Barbarrosa legs, or any usukane pieces, what is going to be the best legs/feet combo for TP, assuming haste spell and double march?
Bahamut's Hose[Or Melee hose] + fuma I think though some might say dune w/kick attack pants and merits I am not sure.
