any sam parsed a 5-hit pachipachio build vs a 6hit hagun build ?

thats a typo, right?Originally Posted by Max™
IE it should be "If you can't get 3 times as much Vit as you can get Str somewhere, go for the Str generally."
just to clear up any confusion...
Genbu's Kabuto is what i use, due to no Hecatomb Cap (yet). VIT+15 is nice for SC.Originally Posted by Max™
i'd also like to re-point the question, osode or hauberk (i have +1) for SC?
i dont have a haidate (/cry) but the OP does. that lends a lot of dex to the acc situation. the heca, rajas, and hauberk give 17 dex and 10 acc (floor(17*.8+10)=23 acc total) and 10 attack, but with osode its 22 dex (floor(22*.8)=17 acc total) but you end up with 5 more str and 10 more vit...
should i get a byrnie+1 or a haub+1 for my sam?
i have full gkatana merits, a hagun, a bushi and an osode and do endgame stuff![]()
Hauby+1 destroys Byrnie+1. It's simply not worth giving up the accuracy for such a relatively small attack boost, unless you have an Amano of course and even then it's debatable.
it's more or less a futsuno-no-mitama -1, which was never really tested, and no tests done with pachi either so I wouldn't know, but 5-hit does stand to do pretty close to hagun I would think.Originally Posted by seiji
note that if you *don't* do a 5-hit build with a pachipachio (it isn't automatic like the futsuno is so you do have to adjust some gear) it's strictly worse than onimaru - so I'm not certain yet whether it will dethrone hagun. (I'd try to avoid using hachiman pieces at this point; one easy 5 hit pachi setup uses usu feet and either askar or usukane haramaki; more complicated setups that let you keep your haub body but require a white tathlum)Originally Posted by Wolfknight
six hit nanatsusayanotachi has potential too but I would expect the white tathlum/usukane based setup makes more sense than the double hachi set.
anyone with a kumokirimaru done any parsing with it? I've kind of been curious where on the shinsoku-hagun contiuum it fits.
RDM would be great both for refreshing the PLD and that you would have two seemingly difficult roles to find for a party. You can just slap together a bunch of random DD and go for it. SCH would probably be fine too but no haste or refresh.Originally Posted by elphaba

Yeah, I meant if you aren't able to get 3 x as much Vit as Str, go with Str.
Are's body > Shadow breastplate > Osode > Nbody > Berk +1 for Steel generally, the bit of attack won't be as big of a boost as pumping the large mods will be.
Trying to max out Raging Rush damage.
8/8 GA Merits
TP:
Perdu/Pole Grip/NA/Bomb Core
Wala Turban/Fortitude/Ethereal/Brutal
Haub+1/Dusk/Rajas/Ulthalam
Amemet+1/VBelt/Byakko/Unicorn
WS:
Perdu/Pole Grip/NA/Bomb Core
N Head/Aqua Gorget/Ethereal/Brutal
Haub+1/N Hands/Rajas/Flame
Amemet+1/Warrior Stone/Byakko/N Feet
I've seem to hit a plateau of 1100-1200, I'm wondering of Ares body would be a better choice for WS, assuming merit parties against Mamools, eating meat with standard merit buffs.
SAM Question Earrings:
Alright for now I do not have a Bushi or a Brutal. When I do, I know what earrings to use so for now.
I have 2x Triumph earrings +1 2x Vampire Earrings and 2x Merman's Earrings.
I see a lot of SAMs using the Merman's for TP, but they just didn't seem to have much of an advantage to me. My TP gear consist of +41Attack(+53attack with merman's). Using Hagun and 6hit with Hachi Kote +1, Chiv Chain and Ecphoria ring, my STR for TP is, +25 not counting earrings(+29/+33 with earrings +43hasso).
I figure for WS Definitley the STR earrings so real question, is which for TP?
P.S. Tiphia Sting for TP , Olibanum Sachet for WS... Don't really think I'd want to use a Smart Grenade over Tiphia sting for TP. Want to get a Black Tathlum for full time though.
fowling/merman for tping unless caping acc then 2x merman and ws your str for sure.
Thank you sir, also have a fowling earring always just forget about it :X
Just a quick question for other Bards: Which should I use if I had to choose only 1 for each spell-type, Goliard Clogs, Oracle's Pigaches, or Rostrum Pumps. I play on PS3 mostly, so I don't have macro space to use more than one footgear for each macro (PC users make me sick, being able to switch gear mid-cast on a spell to get the effect of both... >.> ). I was thinking Goliard for pulling, Oracle's for debuffs, and Rostrums for PT buffs. Please give me opinions. My Bard is only lvl 70, but I'll have it 75 shortly (LS is taking a break for a couple weeks, so I'll finally have time to finish lvling >.>), and Yes, I have all 3 footwear already.
Oracle's Pigaches 72 DEF:13 HP+15 MP+25 Wind instrument skill +5 MP recovered while healing +2
Rostrum Pumps 75 DEF:20 HP-30 MP+30 INT+3 MND+3 Enhances "Fast Cast" effect
Goliard Clogs 75 DEF:19 DEX+4 INT+4 MND+4 CHR+4 Evasion+5 MP recovered while healing +3 Magic Accuracy+2 Set: "Magic Def. Bonus"
I'd say: the Rostrum pumps 'fast cast' such as it is ends up usually moot. The cure fast cast testing, coupled with my personal experience leads me to believe that if the R-pumps are not giving you a faster 'teir' they are next to useless (outside of the 30mp).Originally Posted by MaachaQ
Oracle's pigaches are going to be your strongest for sticking songs (elegy/lullaby) considering you have enough CHR elsewhere. They might/might not push some of your buff songs up a teir (march specifically) and they have the 25mp and also the 15hp, nice for idling in. They're also ugly as hell.
"Goliard for pulling" I dont really understand if you have the Oracle's already. I've yet to encounter a situation where +6 def and +5eva will make or break a bard. More important to me is that my elegy/lullaby sticks the first time. That said, I don't see Goliard Clogs as a bad piece at all if you A) don't have Oracle's yet or B) are a bit shy on CHR in your debuffing gear.
______________
And now I have a bit of a SAM curiosity. It was asked earlier Shinsoku (D80 +4str, weapon rank 8) vs Onimaru(D83 attk15 acc5, weapon rank 8) for 300tp weaponskill, and Onimaru was the decisive victor.
I am curious how Ushikirimaru (D82, +2str, weapon rank 9) stacks up vs Onimaru in a 300tp situation. I would think the higher weapon rank would add some sort of intrigue here...but my gut tells me they might end up almost even in the end (ushikimaru probably better on SA ws and onimaru better to the face)
Thoughts?
I only got the Oracle's yesterday, had the other 2 for a long time now ^^; We had actually been trying for the Enkidu piece for my husband rather than these boots, I hadn't even thought of them until they dropped, and now needed to plan my gear setups for lvling bard again. So, sounds like Oracles should be good for all, rather than just 1 set of songs. Saves me macro space to swap them ^^Originally Posted by Rama
I apologize if this has already been asked, but never noticed this thread til I had to ask a question myself!
For Paladin Bodies, how would you rate them in order of usefulness for most common endgame tanking? (I.E. Worst body to best) Ones I can think of are: AF1 body, AF1+1 body, AF2 body, Ares, Adaman, Gem, and W body? Feel free to toss in others that have slipped my mind.
Also, just to toss it in, what other legs do most PLDs use that havn't gotten homam or AF2 yet?
IMO,Originally Posted by Sampi

Ares is very nice if you actually use the thing. People who don't actually use gear-swaps to lower their HP and heal themselves for enmity don't need it.
WBody is just terrible.
Hydra > AF2 = Ares > Avalon > Gem > everything else imo.
Avalon has one less enmity than Gem, but the ACC is good for building TP for Spirits/Chivalry and Magic Damage taken -5% is great if you don't have Aegis. Situationally, I'd place Avalon above AF2 if you're likely to be taking a lot of magic damage. If you do have Aegis, Avalon is pointless.
As for legs, if you don't have Homam you really can't beat Iron Ram Breeches. Enmity +4, HP+28 and Magic Defense Bonus +4. All good stuff, these pants are good to have situationally even if you do have Homam. Barring the campaign rank/AN for those, I'd probably go with AF2 followed by Adaman Cuisses.
Totally forgot about Hydra, thanks.
I love my goliard - I don't want to freaking switch to ugly shoes >.>Originally Posted by elphaba
