Probably a silly question, but is Tamas Ring an option? For anything other than Cure V, I'd go Trooper's/Tamas. For Cure V, I'd go dual Aqua/Communion/Tamas.
Earrings.. That depends. Does this person have Scholar leveled? Magnetic Earring's +5 CMP is very appealing in addition to the 25 base CMP from the subjob(applicable to /BLM too, I suppose). Beyond that, Novia Earring, Heavens Earring, Loquacious Earring, etc. are all solid options.
She doesn't have Sea yet, stuck on Sacrarium b/c 2 different CoP statics have dumped her already. As far as SCH sub, working on it at the moment, she just hit 75 2 days ago and wanted to deal with that before finishing a sub other than WHM. Pretty much gotta stick to AH-able stuff, I know Serene's Ring would be sweet if it actually existed, but not sure outside of that.Originally Posted by Tsuko_Asura
And sorry, but I can't look up wiki sites at work, wtf's a Trooper's Ring and where's it from?
If you plan on fulltiming the rings, Trooper's and Tamas are a very nice mix of -emnity, MND and MP. Personally, I use Tamas+Aqua for Cure V and stoneskin, Troopers+Tamas for cure 1-IV and repose, and Serket and Tama's for anything else. Peace ring isn't a bad replacement for either -emnity ring, serene ring is a little better but of course expensive. I know some friends who use the latent HP ring and say it works well for them. For an immediate improvement you could go with an ether/peace or peace/troopers combo.
For earrings I use Loquacious, which never comes off, and Novia or Magnetic. Other earrings that work here are antivenom or astral, along with situational earrings like divine or CMN. The -emnity alternatives here are nice but expensive.
Purchase from the Imperial Standing dude in Whitegate.. I want to say that its Superior Private Rank? Iono for sure, but I know its not a high rank. Pretty easy to obtain, and -4 enmity in a ring slot is pretty awesome.
Fantastic, thanks guys.Originally Posted by Tsuko_Asura

It is very worthwhile to swap out gear for Bio 3 it'll determine whether you're able to achieve an 8HP/tic effect (same as BLM's Bio 2 pretty much) or a 7HP/tic effect. A few people I've spoken to have said 210 skill is what is needed for 8HP/tic, but I've also spoken to people that have said 225 is what is needed for 8HP/tic not knowing what to believe I'd rather stick with the higher number to be sure.Originally Posted by Dathus
As far as the Oracle's Robe Vs. Genie Weskit thing is concerned Genie is superior from what I can tell. Oracle's Robe is a tier below Genie Weskit and a tier above NQ Weskit. If you're an utter damage freak stick with the Genie or go one better and get a Morrigan's Robe. Oracle's Robe isn't bad if you're willing to settle with it.
I've seen the same differences in info, but for what it's worth for the most part the people who I'd actually trust to give me correct info have said that the Bio III tier breaks are the same as Bio II, so 211 for the 8/tick.Originally Posted by Liseth
for whitemage, mind is pretty much macro only (enfeebling, stoneskin, cure V). besides the obvious tamas ring; which she may not have access to if she picked one of the others; other good rings to primary are: anything with mp and/or enmity-Originally Posted by Callisto
serket, vivian's, peace ring, star ring, serene ring, ether ring, trooper's ring etc.
since she's taru she might get good mileage out of an hp ring like bomb queen or bloodbead.
other conditional rings to get are Balrahn's ring and medicine ring. (+4~ skill for enfeebling/divine; +10% cure potency when yellow hp)
earrings: insomnia is good - you will resist more wearing one (whitemage has strong resists to begin with) and getting both hp and mp on an earring is nice; I wouldn't rush to replace it.
as for other earrings: again, mp and/or enmity- (cure potency available here now too) things like: roundel earring(new from serket[s]); magnetic earring, astral earring, star earring, loquacious earring, magician's earring (if /smn), novia earring, delta earring.
again, as a taru she may get good mileage out of an hp earring or two - a dead healer can't heal and the extra hp will help martyr and devotion once she starts sinking merits into whm.
She does have a Medicine Ring, I've been wondering if it's viable/worthwhile for her to collect some Zenith scraps and a Serket to make a forced latent macro, the main concern being that she's Taru and putting her down to 600some HP kinda makes me nervous, lol.Originally Posted by Amele
forced latent is something that might be worth doing - just have to be more careful about aoe's ;3Originally Posted by Callisto
honestly, I think forcing the latent is a strong option - it's like wielding an extra light staff in exchange for about 200hp.
if you go that route, slots I'd focus on replacing with zenith would be the head and feet first (since the hands is a good spot to get alot of -enmity and you're gonna want as much as possible) and then do the best you can with rings, back, shield (get a templar mace and an astral shield/aspis) before replacing hands. you'll want to ditch the insomnia earring (probably for an astral) if she does this.
of course, if she has an errant cape that's another story - swap out the hands before you do back then.
We don't do Kings and she has to work during our Einherjar times unfortunately, so the feet are out for sure. Doable with some work would be head/legs/Serket, though it'd be a bit before we could farm up legs and ring for her. Mace was going to be coming eventually anyways as I was hoping to get her a Muse Tariqah, I'm sure tracking down Pelican would be doable now. I just wanted to be sure it's a big enough difference before we dump 1m+ on a set for it.Originally Posted by Amele
when i started merting cor i went straight 5/5 phantom roll recast, 5/5 quick draw recast. worked pretty good. but i was missing light shot too much and getting my face beaten in while pulling, so i switched it a bit to 3 PR and 2 quick draw accuracy. i plan to eventually pull them all out of phantom roll recast and go straight 5/5 QD recast 5/5 QD accuracy.Originally Posted by Alistaire
some of that decision comes from the upgraded tier2 merits. i am now 5/5 snake eye (love this), 1 fold, 1 winning streak, 1 loaded deck. i plan to take winning streak to 3. this will give me both that extended duration between rolls that i want AND a high success rate on quick draw.
adding more AGI helps quick draw accuracy too, and i'm currently trying to beef that up. maybe if i get all the gear i want i wont have to go 5/5 QD acc.
Y'know, everyone puts so much emphasis on Bio3 DoT, what ever happened to Dia? I mean, really. 15% DEF down on Gods and other stuff is huge IMO. Why did no one try and find out the dmg/tick for Dia? If it works off enfeebling magic(as it should), we'd be able to hit huge tiers if it's the same as Bio3.Originally Posted by Callisto
personally, I'm working my way toward it (I need quite a bit more as a hume but it's still doable) but it's not a major priority. I'd get the serket ring either way, I'd swap hands before I swapped legs (blessed pants are amazing). too bad she can't do einherjar with you guys, there's a great neck piece for hp>mp conversion available in there too.Originally Posted by Callisto
for shields: if you don't go with a latent set, I prefer genbu's shield for most things. that said, muse tariqah is a good pick too; I wouldn't bat an eye if a whm said they preferred it as their standard shield. you should probably look into getting a magic strap too if she's a fan of -interrupt% it'll work with staves for casting non-cure spells.
oh, yeah. get a fourth mace for casting buffs (regen, haste, barspells, etc).
Thats a good idea, I wouldn't have thought of using a fourth mace for WHM casting buffs like that.Originally Posted by Amele
Bio is for when you are kiting it and not hitting it, like low-manned Ix'Aerns or manaburned fights, mostly to limit TP feed. But yes, for something where you are still meleeing for damage, Dia would still be better for over all damage.Originally Posted by Dathus
Since I already bring a small army of mules to Einherjar I'll probably start bringing her anyways to collect ampoules for Morgana's Choker, if we can ever hit Odin she could be our third feather mule.Originally Posted by Amele
So far this is her sets(I think, I just redid her macros for her but forgot what all she had:
[spoiler:u369nsiv]Normal/Cures
Light Staff
Staff Strap
Holy Whatever that MND+ throwing thing is
W.Turban
Promise Badge
Antivenom/Insomnia
Noble's Tunic(borrowed for now, Blessed for Barspells and when Noble's owner needs it)
Blessed hands
Electrum Ring(I think?)
MND+3 Ring
Intensifying Cape
Taru RSE Rope(MND+4 MP+something I think)
Blessed pants
Blessed feet
Buffing Set - About the same but with a few changes:
Enhancing Torque
Blessed Briault
Cleric's feet
HMP
Errant body(I know there's an inflection point where this overtakes Noble's for resting, but honestly she's not as serious about the game as I am and I don't really expect her to be)
Hierarch Belt
I also set her up with Divine/Enfeebling sets the best I could, Torque/Earring/AF(legs I think) and whatever MND I could find, and then AF body + some stuff I forgot for debuffs.[/spoiler:u369nsiv]
Not really sure what else to get in terms of actual sets, I'm trying to find a line between making her able to easily be a respectable WHM and not having to be too hardcore of a player.
I use this for Dia as well, don't really need light staff for that.Originally Posted by Tan
And Dia dot is just set by which Dia it is: 1/tick for Dia, 2/tick Dia II, 3/tick Dia III. Cure Wand, which enhances Dia, adds 1 to the dot (and unfortunately no boost to the defense loss).
Light Shot enhances the defense down, don't know if it enhances the dot. You never do Dia for its own dot anyway, so not really a big deal.
the number one (priority) upgrade based on those sets is to get her her own noble's. don't do any major expenditures before that (minor <50k expenditures are ok) it's weird* to see a whm with a serket ring and no noble's and that could be her if she got the serket first.Originally Posted by Callisto
rings: get a mnd+4 ring if you stick to mind rings (at least); otherwise just follow earlier advice. most of the rest of your main idle/cure set looks ok. (I like to idle in more mp and more en- than that. I'll sketch out the key pieces to my sets at the end)
does she have any other cleric/ AF+1 pieces yet? buffing(barspell?) set is dead on, just keep piling +enhancing and +barspell into it. most whitemages have a dedicated barspell macro (basically what you listed here) and then some will do a dedicated stoneskin macro (I don't bother, but I'm also hume so the 20hp or so I'm short doesn't matter so much to me).
HMP is pretty straightforward: put a /wait 18 in the macro before the body switch. this way you'll get the majority of that first 20 second tick with auto-refresh, but still switch to your +5hmp body in time for that first healing tick. if she does limbus and likes to enfeeble sometimes, get the AF+1 body, it'll give you extra inventory (+12 enf. +5 hmp) after that first tick, it's more efficient to have a +5hmp body in than to have the noble's on; but if you're really compulsive about it you can keep doing this sort of switch every 8 seconds. (8 seconds noble's, 2 seconds errant, 8 seconds noble's etc).
I idle in basically what I use for haste/regen/etc: cleric body, fourth mace, genbu's shield, en- and mp+/hp+ accessories/legs/feet etc. (spare slots in idle should go to hp). try to wedge as much enmity down and hp into this set as you can without sacrificing other stats; this is what you should be wearing when you're standing around with no cures to cast.
cure I use templar/genbu's; noble's. med ring if I'm in latent (separate macro moves me in and out of med ring and light obi) I like cure clogs for this too but lately I've just been full timing my marduk crackows.(I'm lazy, what can I say?).
I also carry an enfeebling set: basically anywhere I can get enfeebling skill, I did. not hard to figure out one of these if your girl is into getting her silences and sleepgas to actually stick sometimes.
*hard to respect too
