I thought I read somewheres in this forum that Senji/Perdu was generally accepted as the best Katana combo? Moot point for a while, anyway, until I get the IS. XD Thanks.
flame gorget vs. chiv chain for asuran?
rest of my WS looks like:
destroyers/tiphia sting/shura zunari kabuto/diabolos'/ethereal/shura togi/o.kote/jaeger/raja/amemet+1/black (usually life vs. merit mobs) belt/shura haidate/pln. crackows

discussion of katanas.
but note you can legitimately use fudo/fudo for the day or so that it takes to reach 75 and work on better things.
in regard to flame gorget v. c.chain, i'm not gonna work it out but does the sTP make a difference to 100tp when used on the ws?
otherwise the answer purely is based on the mechanics of the gorget which surely must be wikied by now?!
This is has been a hard call for me as I used to be a firm believer that WS Gorgets aren't "useful" for multi-hit WS. But lately I've come around, it seems that the ACC for WS Gorgets is provided to all hits so essentially its like using a PCC for Asuran fists vs a Chivy Chain. So you are probably better off using Flame Gorget.
E-peen numbarz clearly.
Assuming 10acc on flame gorget for all hits, it wins (the fTP .1 should also out-do the 3str for damage). Also see about getting Hissho hachimaki from ZNM Wulgaru for head. +8acc +8attk is delicious. And I'm not a huge fan of Rajas on asuran, but there are worse trades you can make than 2-or-3 acc for 5str.
As my drk closes in to 75 I've been looking at options in the leg slot, I refuse to use Black Cuisses fulltime for the physical damage, and I will probably never have Homam. So from what I can tell theres Prince's Slops, Galliard Trousers, Aurum Cuisses, and Dusk Trousers, out of these 4 which is best and is there another option I'm missing?
Aurum are likely your best bet (more acc for your meat build), but may I wonder why you refuse to use black cuisses?
Also, if the 10acc is confirmed, then I'd much rather be using gorget for asuran (I use gorgets for Y/G/K on samurai, but have never seen the 10acc confirmed on multihit WSs).
I try to tank on all my jobs, maybe its a habit from Nin or something but I'd rather not have to deal with the +14% Physical Damage, Drks already pretty bad without access to much -physical damage gear to swap in.
So, why aren't you going to go for Homam? Frankly, Apollyon is one of the easiest events in the game. If you have a group of people who have done CoP, it is very doable and extremely worthwhile.
Don't really want to go through the hassle of joining a Limbus LS and waiting in line to get legs I'd only use on Drk. I don't do any events anymore actually just exp, merit, and fun stuff.
Ever since the new update came out been having a hard time deciding what would be better overall for my War in the leg slot for WS's.
Currently doing Salvage and have Ares Legs down as one of my priorities, but also been doing ZNM and have the pop item for Sarameya(SP) now which drops the Haidate with 10STR and 7ATT I beilieve it is.
I know most will say it's situational, use Haidate for Steel Cyclone and use Are's for Raging Rush. I do tend to use SC in a lot of situations but I use RR more cause I merit a lot. If you could only chose one which would you rather have? The new Haidate or Ares legs.
wait, so you're seriously questioning: 83, 5acc, 18att; vs. 82, str+2?
ok, first: there's no way in hell your numbers are right for the "WD" term (they may be right for WD*fTP) but this isn't an accurate way to compare these weapons because you're exaggerating the value of fstr/wsc changes (by fTP) and completely ignoring the value of attack or accuracy changes. (the latter may be accurate if you assume /thf)
running wsc+fstr you get a final value of +1.745 (745 is the probability that your gear setup would actually gain 2) for ushikiri. so sometimes onimaru is going to be straight up better -regardless- of whether fstr is capped or not (those situations where you are 3 str away from your next +1 fstr). there is a small window where you can actually gain three points but it is something like 12% of the time and would be highly dependent on the mob you were fighting.
against say, a level 90 war/war (fafnir), with 147 strength, you'll have an fstr of 12 (13 with 149 strength) and a wsc of 91 (92 with 149 str) so you gain +2 and lose 1 for the D value difference for a net of +1; this is gonna be a % bonus to damage of about ~0.5%.
I don't recall if we've ever calculated fafnir's defense (I did a search and couldn't find anything) it would be useful to know for this. for the sake of argument I will assume fafnir has a defense of 350 (this is way low but reduces the bonus that 18 attack would give). a typical level 75 sam with high attack will have around 700, which means a Ratio of 2.0 and a cRatio of about 1.25. a boost of +18 will be about 0.05+ to cRatio which is a % bonus of about 4%.
so unless your cRatio is literally capped (dia III+angon+full break or something) the onimaru will always beat the ushikirimaru at 300TP.
if a mob is so weak that you are routinely capping cRatio, then you shouldn't be ws'ing only at 300.
^ Is a strong reason not to bother; but I'd want to do some tests/calculations before I'd say for sure one way or the other. (it's basically: is 2 300TP hagun hits worth more than a 300TP and 200TP onimaru hit? but whether you're closing for someone else or whether it's better to save the 200TP to go at 300 again in 2.5 minutes better is stuff we'd need to look at too.)
For my BLU/NIN which I use for the occasional merits/campaign battles, I'm not sure which earrings I should use. I have an idea of which it will be, but was looking for what other BLU's would do. The earrings are Suppanomimi, Brutal Earring, and Ethereal Earring.
Rest of the gear if it matters:
Main: Perdu
Sub: Ifrits
Ammo: Tiphia
Head: Walahra
Neck : Fortitude
Ear1: Suppanomimi
Ear2: Brutal
Body: Homam
Hands: Dusk
Ring1: Blood
Ring2: Woodsman
Back: Amemet +1
Waist: Swift Belt
Legs: Homam
Feet: Denali
