    Re: Whats better?

It depends on which job you use more. For RDM- when you need to land Gravity and/or Silence on a mob, you need to land it. Since neither spells is affected by INT/MND potency, the +15% accuracy from Auster's Staff is incredibly helpful. A Drain/Aspir that is 5% less gimp is nice (but it is still gimp), but I think maxing out your enfeebling is a lot more important.

For BLM, probably Pluto's Staff since you have a nice Dark Magic Skill with which to work.

I've bean hearing alot about for Mnk and Sam its better but not for Ninja, which doesn't make any sense to me.
DEX+10 Haste+2% vs Atk+10 STR+5 seems pretty simple to me. But I'd like everyones opinions, for all 3 jobs too. (Pups not a job)
assuming you don't have the rest of the set: I'd wear them to look cool, but would probably TP in the haidate. if I had the rest of the set, I'd wear the hizayoroi since it's probably safe to assume the 'enhances haste' effect is at least 5%

weaponskilling, I'd seriously consider the Hizayoroi depending on if I had shura+1 and how comfortable I was missing 4.5~ accuracy for the weaponskill. (would almost definitely do it for sam, not as sure for monk) ninja I'd probably ws in the haidate too assuming :jin.

Pluto for sure. You will most likely cast Drain and Aspir a lot more frequently than Aero IV and Tordado II. (Although it should be your next HQ staff if your LS does Ouryu frequently.)

Currently debating O.Kote vs. AF+1 ... why do you say Kotes are better? and is the difference significant?

And if "shit is situational" ... let's talk about some situations. :D

    Re: Whats better?

If you're able to use Meat and maintain high Acc, the fStr/Crit+ on Tekko+1 would be pretty sexy.

How often are you in a position to give up 20 Attack, and maintain high acc without sushi on Nin?

Black Mages cast Sleepga II mostly in Dynamis and Einherjar where they have double dark weather already working in their favor. At least this is how things happen in BG.

And I am looking at it strictly from the perspective of utility for end-game events.

    Re: Whats better?

Is it worth losing 15 attack and 2~3 STR if you get to 100% TP in 18 hits instead of 19 and also receive a (probably negligible) Zanshin bonus?

    Re: Whats better?

if you're asking what I think you're asking. I don't think it is - in really any circumstance (since it's probable that the zanshin bonus on that piece of gear is only 1%)

there's better slots to get store TP from if you really want to reduce your swing count; but depending on what you're wearing already the answer for where to get it varies a bit.

As Mithra for RNG, I know AF2 feet for TP, but for WS AF2 or RSE (STR+3)?

    Re: Whats better?

Lets say I'm meleeing an HNM with a GSD, because I am participating in a Light SC whenever my parter and I have TP. Which would be better for this purpose? This is with Great Sword Merits and Sushi, so around 80% hit rate on an average HNM.

    Subduer:
    DMG:85 DLY: 444
    Critical Hit Rate +6%

    or

    Perdu Sword:
    DMG: 72 DLY: 456
    When under 100 TP - DMG: 84 Attack +10 Accuracy +5

Subduer has lower delay and Critical hits ignore defense, so it is probably better melee damage on HNMs, but Perdu Sword has 5 accuracy, which increases the speed I get to 100 TP.

I suspect you are using /THF? If so, I think Algol is better if that is not possible than using Subduer is better because of the higher damage.

    Re: Whats better?

I think Subduer is the best GS you can get. Algol is nice for Epeen shots and is not too far behind though.

Ragnaroks should be shot on site for the waste of gil.

    Re: Whats better?

On every parse I've done, Algol has consistently beaten Subduer even when the wielder of the Subduer had better gear (E. Body, for instance, versus my Haub). Typically the difference is negligible but it's definitely not quite as people say - Algol > Subduer, assuming player's skill and gear is matched.

The reason for this is because Subduer gains TP much slower - 59.2 seconds to 100TP versus Algol's 48.9 seconds.

Sure, Subduer swings faster (and has a higher critical rate, resulting in a higher amount of melee damage over the course of a fight), but the extra DoT typically doesn't measure up to the many more weaponskills an Algol-user is going to be getting off over the course of a fight.

Here are some parse results from me (using Algol) versus a much more well-equipped DRK - we're using the same subjobs and the same food.

    http://tinyurl.com/2vzyqo

    TPing gear is this:

    Vandyr (Algol):

    Weapon: Algol
    Ammo: Tiphia Sting
    Head: Ace's Helm
    Neck: Chivalrous Chain
    Ear1: Ethereal Earring
    Ear2: Brutal Earring
    Body: Haubergeon
    Hands: Homam Manopolas
    Ring1: Sniper's Ring
    Ring2: Sniper's Ring
    Back: Cerberus Mantle
    Waist: Life Belt
Legs: Black Cuisses (this is before I got Homam Cosciales)
    Feet: Homam Gambieras

    Heavenscloud (Subduer):

    Weapon: Subduer
    Ammo: Bomb Core
    Head: Walahra Turban
    Neck: Chivalrous Chain
    Ear1: Assault Earring
    Ear2: Brutal Earring
    Body: Adaman Hauberk
    Hands: Dusk Gloves
    Ring1: Sniper's Ring
    Ring2: Sniper's Ring
    Back: Forager's Mantle
    Waist: Swift Belt
    Legs: Homam Cosciales
    Feet: Homam Gambieras

I had 10% Haste versus his 18%, lower delay AND +6% critical hit rate, yet still the Algol's TP rate was superior. (yes, I realize I didn't beat him by *that* much, but with an extra piece of homam and an E. Body to even the gear-gap, my damage would be significantly increased)

*EDIT* As a sidenote, I'm fairly certain that the results with Ragnarok versus Algol would be similar for the same reason, because since it has even lower delay it TPs even slower than a Subduer. 480 delay seems to be a sweetspot for TP speed. It seems like the only way you could even a Ragnarok to an Algol in that way is by stacking on a ton of Store TP gear, which could be do-able since Ragnarok has +20 accuracy. For instance: meleeing with SAM sub in Askar Korazin, Rajas Ring, and using Carbonara shaves off two hits to 100 TP, but honestly I still don't think that would be enough to close the gap. I guess you'd just cross your fingers for lucky 3x procs (and disregard that Algol has essentially the same property anyway ). Sad that Ragnarok blows so much, really.

    Re: Whats better?

Maneater or Juggernaut, offhanding Ridill, in meripo/salvage/limbus/dynamis situations? I'd rather not spend the gil to test myself. Here's the rest of my gear if it matters:

    TP / WS
    Ammo: Bomb Core / --
Head: Walahra Turban / Hecatomb Cap
Neck: Peacock Charm / Soil Gorget
    Ear1: Brutal Earring / --
    Ear2: Suppanomimi / Minuet Earring
    Body: Adaman Hauberk / --
Hands: Dusk Gloves / Alkyoneus Bracelets
    Ring1: Sniper's Ring / Flame Ring
    Ring2: Rajas Ring / --
    Back: Amemet Mantle +1 / --
Waist: Swift Belt / Warwolf Belt
Legs: Byakko's Haidate / Barone Cosciales
Feet: Dusk Ledelsens / Hecatomb Leggings

    Accuracy is not an issue.

    Re: Whats better?

Well, I've been contemplating changing my meripo Katanas (Mamu+1s for solo/duo), I currently use S/F, cheap and effective. Both Unji and Unsho are just 400k on my server now, and I was wondering from more experienced NIN (I'm GjallarhornBRD so I don't get to play NIN often enough to test on my own) which they prefer for merit PTs.

    S/F
    S/Unsho
    S/Unji
    U/U

I'm still (slowly) ranking up in assaults so I'll eventually have P.blade, but not anytime soon. After I do obtain P.blade, I'm left with the same question.

    S/P
    Unji/P
    Unsho/P
    P/Unji
    P/Unsho

"Shit is Situational" - I'm just looking to be as effective as I can be when I (occasionally) play NIN in meripo. Our normal camp is Nyzul Isle Mamools.

As for the rest of my gear, I'm fairly well (but not great) equiped, I use a Dex heavy WS build because I share gear with my THF (Dear SE: More Inventory Please). I have capped Katana, STR, and Crit+ merits.

    TP Gear (WS Gear)
    Katanas / Bombcore
    Turban(O.hat) / Chiv Chain(Breeze Gorget) / Brutal / Suppa(Pixie)
    Koga Chainmail(Osode) / Dusk Gloves(Ninja Tekko+1) / Woodmans(Thunder) / Jeager(Rajas)
    Amemet+1 / SwiftBelt(Warwolf or Potent) / Byakko's Haidate / Fuma(Savage Gaiters)

Disclaimer- Yeah I know "test it yourself" but as stated above, I'm a Relic BRD, I am rarely able to convince my normal merit group to let me come NIN, but when it does happen I want to be able to be the best I can.

Also, any other tips, or advice on my gear would be greatly appreciated as well.
