I like maneater more for the acc, but in the end it's really just another "flip a coin" situation

every ninja I know prefers either S/F and U/U and not combinations of such (they have different intentions in mind, S/F is about damage per hit, and U/U is about max attack speed)

as for the combinations with Perdu, there's no real reason to use unsho over unji, and there's little reason to wield Perdu as the offhand (since the higher damage is active on weaponskills) versus either U.

I'd expect either P/Unji or S/P to be the setup of choice, based on whether you prefer S/F or U/U normally.

    Re: Whats better?

Hand slot for BLU when casting Disseverment/Barrage/FRip, Akinji (Homam when I get em), or Pallas (Alky when/if I get em)?

Rings, 2X ACC rings, or 2X STR rings? Depends on above choice?

Things to note: lvl72, Solo, Sole Sushi, Suppa, 8/8 Sword merits, T-VT Prey

Change with addition of BRD/COR doing ACC boost?

Will this answer change at 75? If so, how?

    Re: Whats better?

It depends also on the other equipment you're using, but probably Pallas/Alkyoneus and STR rings.

This was discussed to some extent when comparing equipment setups for Heraldic Imp soloing: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9013&p=613258#p613258 . Even though you may be LV72, the principle is still the same: focus on damage through STR/DEX and then adjust your setup by adding accuracy pieces if the damage on multiple-hit spells is suffering due to missing too often.

Definitely Pallas/Alkyoneus and STR rings if you're getting accuracy from another source, such as Hunter's Roll or Madrigal.

The answer won't really change at 75 due to not seeing a practical damage cap (for those three spells at least), not fighting enemies you haven't been already (in merit situations), and because your new equipment options towards 75 tend to favor accuracy pieces (Homam, Perdu Hanger, etc.)

    Re: Whats better?

I'm trying to figure out a good equilibrium on equipment to be able to land enfeebles reliably and with good potency. I have max enfeebling merits and elvaan if that helps. I have access to the following gear:

Main: All HQ staves / mythic+1 / numinous shield
    Head: AF2 hat
Neck: enfeebling torque / promise badge
    Ears: enfeebling earring
body: errant body / AF body
hands: yigit in a few days (I'm lazy, die)
    rings: Tamas + aqua
    back: prism / altruistic
    waist: penitents
legs: mahatma (lets assume nashira as well {hopefully soon!})
    feet: mahatma

What would be the best combination here? I'm thinking floating around 110 mnd (70 base lets say) and 325 skill is sufficient, but just wondering if others have better input. Also, HQ staves for accuracy or mythic/numinous?

    Re: Whats better?

Devotee's Mitts +1 are a good option as well, one extra MND over Yigit and not terribly expensive. The hardest part was finding a pair (I had to shout for mine lol).

My potency set uses MND in all spots except for weapon (hq staff), neck (torque), and head (lol elite beret, fuck you xarcabard). I never seem to have any trouble landing slow/para on mobs unless they have specific resistance towards that spell or element.

Edit: If I had relic hat I would probably give wand/shield a try in place of hq staff.

on what tier mobs do you start seeing an increase in resists? Gods? sea mobs? kings? etc

    Re: Whats better?

Sky gods are assholes about enfeebles, to be honest the fights are easy enough that I don't bother trying to enfeeble them anymore (other than a "fuck I'm bored lets see if I can get a para proc on byakko").

Sea jailers, it depends which one but generally speaking I can get them to stick.

NQ Ground kings are easy to enfeeble. HQ I can't speak for, we don't camp a whole lot.

Proto-Ultima seems to be a 1/2 stick rate on para/slow with my gear, the resists are frustrating but the higher potency is worth it. Proto-Omega is a little easier.

Wyrms, generally easy as well, I might get a resist on Slow II on 1/5 casts but thats not anything to fret over.

How important are HQ Earth and Light Staves on BRD for XP only 51-75? or are NQ fine?

    Re: Whats better?

I currently have +29 acc and +20 dex on my nin during the TP phase. If I was to switch to haubergeon fulltime would able able to reasonably eat meat on things outside of mamool ja? I hover between 20-21% haste depending on the time of day which factor's into how much losing out on chainmail affects my attack speed.
How much more acc would I need to sneak in to make it viable if ?

Oh amost forgot. assume im fully merited.
Also my thf recently got hold of the jse harness and some dusk trousers. Since I dont have any homam yet I'm afraid that using the trouser's fulltime coupled with the loss of the +10 acc from SH would mean I cant maintain meat in merit situations.
I have only about 16% haste atm with the JSE harness on. I have +35 acc if im wearing the JSE but not the trousers.
I have acess to feint as well so technically lurker's arent an issue towards me eating meat at mamool ja. The pants are Paluwan legs.

I'd say if there were two items that are "required" for BRD I'd say that these would be the ones.

I never leveled without HQ staves but I can say that I also never had a problem landing sleep or elegy in exp either.

What do you thinks better for PLD/NIN tanking harder HNMs (CoP Wyrms, Khimaira, Bahamut etc). Boxer's Mantle or Shadow Mantle?

Currently I've been using Boxer's Mantle and been switching in Cerberus' for when I need more enmity. I only recently got Shadow Mantle so which one would be better for getting shadows back up when things go wrong?

For the most part, BRD is so cheap that I see those as required. Resisted Elegies and Lullabies are horrible, so you need to make every effort not to get resisted.

You have alot of good options there. Most things it's okay to go with more of a potency based setup. Faf/Nid, you may get a few resists in a row, which is okay, just take away a little mind and add a little skill (prism -> altruistic, mahatma -> nashira legs, promise badge -> enf.torque, and so on). Same goes for wyrms like Tiamat, Jorm, Vrtra really (assuming full enfeebling merits). Basically, go for as much MND as you can - if you need some more skill, no shame in doing so.

I've always thought jailers were hard to enfeeble. Hope is easy to land Slow on, but I remember paralyze resisting. I've never landed anything on Prudence. Never tried to debuff Justice, but that's because i'm on BLM instead. As far as the inside Jailers, they're all kite fights for me. So I don't bother with debuffs besides Gravity, and that only lands on Faith and Temperance, not Fortitude.

Odd, I've always gone with full on potency for ultima, maybe you were noticing resists but it was because of Magic Screen?

Hmm, thats possible. Although as I mentioned earlier, I don't have af2 chapeau so my potency set doesn't have quite as much enfeebling+ as I'd like it to. From memory (not on RDM at the moment, don't feel like switching ) I cast at 303 enfeebling skill, +51 MND, and +15% m.acc from the hq staff.

    Re: Whats better?

It's been bothering me a bit, and since I don't really understand fSTR & all that jazz, would someone mind explaining to me, in which situations is Heca body better for THF than Dragon Harness, and vice versa? Thanks!

    Re: Whats better?

    Damage = (D + fSTR)*pDIF.

fSTR can be approximated by (Your STR - Mob's Vit)/4 + 1. So basically fSTR, when you have more STR than a mob's VIT, is 25% STR + 1.

D is just weapon base damage.

pDIF is a random value returned by passing your cRatio (level corrected your attack/mob's defense ratio) into the pDIF function. If mob is EM or under and your ATK = mob's def, then your cRatio is 1, and the pDIF range is .6-1.4 (I think?).

Weapon skills are almost the same thing except:

    Weapon Skill Damage = (D + WSC + fSTR)*fTP*pDIF

The big difference is the addition of the fTP factor and the WSC factor. WSC's are level corrected (but only by your level not the mob's) and at 75, your modifiers on WSC are actually lower than they appear (83%*WSC I think). In general fSTR can be approximated by 25% STR mod (for the above reasons).

EDIT: TA & SA add dex & agi directly to the weapon base when used in conjunction with melee attacks. So Dragon Harness' +6 dex/agi becomes +12 D with SATA. The guranteed crit ups your pDIF by 1.0 (automatically, s'what crits do) which makes attack much less important. In short...

Shark Bite: 50% dex, fSTR: 25% str. On SATA:

    Dragon Harness
    6 DEX = +12 d + 2 by wsc (50% mod is level corrected) = +14 D.

    Hecatomb
    12 STR = +3 by fSTR = +3 D and +10 ACC.

    Shark Bite is clearly superior.

SATA Dancing edge: 30% dex mod and more hits (thus ACC is more valuable)

    Dragon Harness
    6 DEX = +12 d + 1 by wsc (30% mod is level corrected) = +13 D.

    Hecatomb
    12 STR = +3 by fSTR = +3 D and +10 ACC.

With as important as ACC is for large multi-hit WS, I'd say Hecatomb & Dragon Harness have the gap closed between them.

Of course if you use TA or SA alone, the amount of base damage you'll have being added on will go from +12 to +6, which makes Hecatomb clearly superior for TA+WS or SA+WS with Dancing Edge.

    Re: Whats better?

where is the +1 coming from? I was under the impression that fSTR(2) calculations were floored, not ceilinged.

not that this is particularly important for relative comparisons of stats, but I'd like to know for future calculations myself.

Yeah, you're right, everything in this game is floored over and over again (. . )

Could you elaborate on which +1? I'm not seeing it. Probably just made a mistake and i'm too close to my calculations to see it.

    EDIT: Found it, thanks.
