I prefer Claymore Grip on WAR for RR.(Crits+3%) Pole is alright but I've gotten slightly better numbers with Claymore. Sword strap sucks.

Ironically posting this after the post saying Sword Strap sucks... but I'm working on upgrading a Ryunohige... So I figure the additional 2% DA would be pretty moot (if the stats remain constant). Regardless... here is my question.
If the delay of the weapon is 492, and I use the sword strap for the -3% delay, that ends up being 477.24 delay. I know that SE truncates fractions, I'm curious as to what the final delay of the weapon would round to: Whether it would truncate the -3% part of the equation, or the final number. And SE typically 'rounds down' but in this instance, rounding down is a 'beneficial' change.
Why it's important?
477 delay yields 12.85% TP return, 478 delay yields 12.9% TP return.
Additionally! If I were to stack store TP gear with a 477 weapon, would the +% be added to the 12.85 or just the 12.8?
I know it's not a straight "Which is better," but I figure all the experts are here, and I don't really want to create a thread in the newbie discussion for this.
12.8.
Sword Strap seems good if it doesn't affect your hits to 100 TP; it won't improve your WS damage, but it'll improve your TP rate and melee damage more than Pole. But for most interesting 2h weapons it costs you one hit to 100 TP, and so should be avoided.
To confirm: that's 12.8 TP return, a 477 delay, and 12.8 used for all store TP% equations as well after that?
Hmm... So to confirm
If I use a 492 delay weapon, such as Ryunohige (stats based on removed pictures), stack on 3% sword strap, get a 477 delay, 12.8% TP return per hit.
Then I use Rajas Ring, Brutal Earring, and Aurum's Cuirass with /SAM to result in +28% Store TP, results in 16.384 TP/hit, rounds down to 16.3% TP/hit. Which, using Dragonsbane, the new DRG Mythic WS: 4 hits, results in 19% TP (assuming I hit all), then will still get me to 100% with 5 additional hits. Or I would need 3 more Store TP to assure that I would get to 100% on 1 hit WSs.
Exactly. Sword Strap shouldn't be rejected out of hand and without explanation. The reason that Sword Strap is not good is that it drops most people out of a 6-hit build. If it doesn't drop you out of a 6-hit build, then it can be a very good option depending your other equipment.
The real question should be, if I don't lose my 6-hit build, at what point is the Sword Strap better than the Pole Grip?
And for that, you would need the Amele signal! (Edit: Well, he already said it was, but if you need more math he's the one to tell you when it would be better. I wish I read all the posts before posting. LOL)
with 2x minuet/+ chaos roll i'd imagine those 3str>10 r.att
I just got my hands on an Antares harness, and im working on fixing up my gearsets. When I got to mnk i seemed to run into a snag. No doubt im going to use Antares instead of paluwhan(sp?) for TP gain, But im torn bewteen
1. Antares and Arhats for tanking
2. Antares or Osode for WS
Yes I know lolosode for ws but I have lots of acc already in my gear and ive never really had a problem with missing too much. So its a tough call. lots of extra stats vs 8 acc. Below is my gear sets for reference.
My humble lil mnk (i dont use it much so excuse the somewhat gimpy gear)

That WS set doesn't look to be enough Acc to consistently land the majority of Asuran Fists. Acc, and landing all/most hits, is much more important then the stat mods (being that they're only 10%). If you're using Howling Fist / Dragon Kick then thats different.
Edit: Also depends on if you're using Sushi or meat and if you capped h2h or not.
1. Yea immmm dumb, dont know why I never realized haidate > denali, but now that you point it out... pretty obvious.
2. I have a potent belt, ill give that a try
3. Have the gorget too, and knew its PCC+1, but I guess i forgot about it when I was putting together my sets.
4. What about the Antares? lol
I know you already have Antares/Osode, but just think this may be worth looking into for Asuran: http://images.wikia.com/ffxi/images/...7s_Harness.png
Yeah, Enkidu's is pretty fuckin sexy, though compared to Togi it's debateable, 5 Str for the fStr + lolmod vs 7~ Attack.
Dusk NQ or Askar hands, 14% haste vs 13% haste. War/Sam.
At the moment, my Rampart macro consists of Valor Coronet and roughly +30enmity.
Was wondering what other Paladins were using for Rampart? Full enmity gear swap or stacking VIT to boost Rampart's magical damage stoneskin?
My Rampart Macro
input /echo PLD Rampart
input /equip head "Valor Coronet"
input /equip l.ear "Hades Earring +1"
input /equip r.ear "Ethereal Earring"
input /equip body "Glt. Surcoat +1"
input /equip hands "I.R. Dastanas"
input /equip l.ring "Hercules' Ring"
input /equip r.ring "Sattva Ring"
input /equip back "Resentment Cape"
input /equip waist "Trance Belt"
input /equip legs "Iron Ram Hose"
input /equip feet "Iron Ram Greaves"
Personally I stack MDB/Enmity, simply because if I'm using Rampart that means I'm probably going to get slapped w/ an aga III or IV, or another Magical Attack and my BLM's aren't going to be able to stun it.
Rampart = Vit > Enmity
No point adding AF2 Head if you don't have enough Vit to even negate the Magic attacks.
Along the same vein: at what point (for WAR/SAM, Great Axe WAR/NIN, or SAM) does Turban start beating Askar? Have Askar head/hands, Turban, and Dusk Gloves, but I've been using Askar head and Dusk Gloves on my WAR, and will be on SAM once I finish my usu boots (currently using Askar head and Hachiman hands).
No Haidate yet, but my thought was that the extra 5% Haste would push me into the point where Turban would be better, so once I got them the plan was to switch back to Turban.
A good number of us (most? idk) only use Rampart when we know we're going to be eating a magic attack within the next few seconds, so it won't even last the original 30 seconds. No point in extending the duration to 45 in that case, much better to have the extra 20 Stoneskin that Koenig would give you.
Only argument I could see for it is Iron Will, but does anyone actually merit that high enough to make a difference?
Magic Shield may not last the entire 45 s, but theres two parts to Rampart, Defense Bonus/Iron Will Casting Interrupt Down, and also the Magic Shield aspect. I swear I remember seeing something about MND affecting Rampart also but I can't remember where. Also you never know if someone might actually stun or interrupt that magic attack you were expecting so that 15s may actually be the difference between absorbing some damage vs none.
But it will boil down to playing style. If you think that absorbing 20 more damage (not even an ethereal proc) is worth it vs 15s thats your prerogative but I would always take an extended duration effect vs a small damage absorption. Overall though I think the Rampart Set I posted on the previous page was a nice balance of MDB/VIT/Enmity/lolresistance (from the Iron Ram Stuff)
