    Presidential Candidates '08

I was wondering what everyone's views on the candidates are. There are only a few candidates I personally like and they are Ron Paul, Mike Gravel, and Dennis Kucinich. There's just something about them I trust, I dunno lol. My views, though, are with Ron Paul and I hope he wins.

Watched the Youtube debates this week, and everytime Mike Gravel spoke, all I could think of was: "Mike Gravel-SMASH!!!" Much anger in that one, indeed.

I think we need to just let Al Gore move into the White House after Bush leaves. Sort of like an "I Owe You: One Presidential Term" that needs to be repaid from 2000.

Probably =/ The media has been ignoring everything he has done. In articles about candidates about getting internet support, everyone but Ron Paul was talked about and he has the most youtube subscriptions, myspace friends, most searched, etc. etc. Kinda sad how the media get to choose our presidents now.

It looks like it will be the neo-liberal Giuliani against Hilldog in the general election. The hardcore conservative base is supporting Fred Thompson but he hasn't even thrown in the hat and he's trailing McCain inthe polls. The conservative base just picked the wrong horse...the result if this election, win or lose for the GOP, will make most neoconservatives heads explode.

I don't think the GOP can win if they pick Giuliani as the nominee. He has been going down in the polls.

And to those saying all politicians suck, they probably do, but you have to choose the best out of the batch.

Ron Paul and Reagan were really good friends and he was the only one, to my knowledge, that was opposed to it. If that isn't sincere, I don't know what is.

The Democratic Ticket is going to have Edwards,Clinton or Obama on it. Ron Paul, Grivel and company doesn't even come near the other 3 in the polls.

The Republican Ticket is going to be a toss up in my opinion. I personally like Fred Thompson's politics but unless he steps up and says he is officially running soon I don't know if he will be able to recover. Romney is a good option but his Religous background will hurt him (even though i don't think it should matter.) I don't like Rudy's politics and after the immigration bill I dont think Mcaine will be able to touch Fred Thompson.

I agree that it's more than likely going to be a Democratic President unless something drastically changes. Bush has put a lot of bad pres on the full Republican party and I just hope once a front runner is decided that the spotlight moves off our President and focuses on the election.

Clinton will win because everything thinks if she is in office its like putting bill back into office. Sadly, she is a raving bitch bag who knows nothing about anything.

Every time I see the name Ron Paul come up I want to gorge my eyes out with a rusty wire. Dexster is right about the Democratic ticket tho - Edwards, Clinton, or Obama is gonna be on it. I think the problem right now for Republicans is that there is no clear forerunner(s). Giuliani is way too liberal to get the nomination, and Romney isn't gonna get it b/c of Mormon. McCaine's campaign has gone down the shitter recently as well.

All jokes aside, I really wish he'd run again. He's already shown he can get the popular vote, and that was before his transformation from stiff to cool.

no wai. she will never win because people in the south aren't ready to elect a female president. she's popular in NY and a couple northeastern states, but she can't hold any of the southern states.

comon, we should all know by now that getting elected is not about working consistently on the most pressing issues that most americans face, such as healthcare, social security, etc. it's about political theatrics and whether candidates can let their names known by giving "financial incentives" to the mainstream media. the fact that paris hilton and lindsay lohan can so easily whore the front pages of all the major news outlets should be pretty telling.

A zebra does not change its spots. Getting rid of one idiot and ushering in another doesn't seem like a good idea.

Anyways I'm tired of putting lawyers in office. Ron Paul all the way. Seems like a down-to-earth guy who doesn't draw party lines and couldn't care less about an opinion poll. I may not agree with all of his positions, but I think I can trust that they actually are his positions. With the others I don't know what to believe, they change their minds every week it seems.

you guys really sticking your neck out with these bold predictions lol. 'Edwards, Clinton, or Obama'? Thats about as insightful as saying we are going to have an American in the White House in '08. Its gonna be Pres Clinton and VP Obama as the democratic ticket and they will win the general too. By the way hes running his campaign, you can tell Obama is willing to settle for the veep spot, and in all likelyhood is gunning for it.

And the south? lol, other than bill clinton, no democrat has won the south in over 50 years (Adlai Stevenson 1956). Don't need the south to win the general, that is not a valid reason Hillary Clinton will lose. Thats why Edwards was so attractive in 04, he appeared to have so much support in the south, but in the end it didn't matter in the general. This time, you might say the situation is different, due to the lack of bush support. Nevertheless hes tainted by the loss in 04 and isn't going to get the nomination.

i give Hillary credit for trying to overhaul medicare, a much more severe problem than social security, while bill was in office. The fact it was her initiative caused less political damage to President Bill Clinton's presidency/political capital when it failed than if he had done it himself. And they both recognized how important it was to try to reform it. She had the balls to try.

perhaps i was being too subtle, i was ditching bush and how he got elected twice despite his incompetence. i am not saying hillary's not qualified, actually she's probably one of the more experienced candidates in the running, sadly i just don't see it happening.

As long as its not another republican i do not care. As much charisma as Obama has and Hillary's history I dont think this country is going to elect a minority or woman for president for a long time, so itll be interesting to see who wins.
