    Re: The Simpsons Movie

Fucking excellent! I am so glad they decided to rate this PG-13, when they could have kiddified the shit out of it. Because that allowed for so much little adult humor which was so different than what we usually see in the Simpsons, but it completely worked, i.e - Otto smoking a bong was classic.

The beginning of the movie I thought was the best part, with the Itchy and Scratchy movie. It was just ingenious.

And lol @ the Tom Hanks cameo, all in all great movie.

I thought it was pretty bad. The whole thing was just pop culture references every 5 seconds, and whatever was original wasn't particularly funny. There are episodes of the show that are way funnier than the movie.

    Place was fucking packed though.

Here's an idea, not relying on someone else to act as a crutch for your humor.

From beginning to end, all it was was a gigantic pop culture reference. What makes old Simpsons funny and shit like Family Guy, new Simpsons, and this movie not is the difference in original humor. Pollution, the $1000 Homer gets for moving to Alaska, the ineffectual EPA, "An Irritating Truth", president Arnold. It's more like a halfassed political soapbox than a comedy.

Because they totally should have had the entire movie with homer singing mister plow instead of what was going on in today's society. You two are *really* the target audience for this type of movie, someone who is way too over-critical of everything they watch and can't relate to what's going on around them.

What would have been wrong with something like that? I watch the Simpsons to laugh, not for political commentary. If I want to watch something political I'll watch fucking C-SPAN. As it is, this heap was one "remember that time when" away from a lawsuit.

I don't know where you got "two" from.

Also, lol at digging for meaning in the fucking Simpsons Movie.

I laughed, almost through the entire movie, greatly enjoyed it for what is was, instead of disliking it for what it's not.

and you didn't in the entire post I replied to. Right.....

They also had alot of new material rather than the same shit because they related alot of things in the movie to the series, it didn't have to be the same material. If people wanted to see that material over and over again, they'd buy the damn DVDs.

Since you didn't seem to understand my post, they were trying to relate to what is flying around in the media these days, and since it happens to be basically anti-bush and anti-war, they took those concepts and rolled with them, in some of the funnier ways I've seen lately. They are trying to make money, as most movies try to do. If you think that it wasn't a good decision as far as Matt Groening or Fox to go the way they did, you really need to re-analyze your summary.

I thought the movie was pretty good. There were good aspects and bad, but it doesn't feel like the kind of movie that's worth analyzing. Just a sort of watch, enjoy, move on kind of thing.

I may be wooshing on something, but wasn't the character that was President called Ranier Wolfcastle? Why'd they make his name Arnold Schwarzaspellingerror just to match the California governor? The joke's pretty obvious to begin with, changing the name seemed pointlessly blatant to me.

Ranier Wolfcastle is another character. Given that the Ranier character was likely inspired by Arnold Schwartzenigger, Bruce Willis, Steven Seagal, and other action heroes, it's not surprising that Arnold's character would be similar.

    Re: The Simpsons Movie

I didn't realize it was supposed to be a whole separate character. If he's an amalgam of action heroes, they didn't really change the appearance or voice at all to be strictly Arnold.

You do realize that the entire post you replied to was made by me?

Who the fuck said it had to be the same old shit? I'm saying that the movie would have been better if they'd stuck to their typical kind of humor instead of trying to be omgedgysatire. If I wanted to see political satire, I'd watch something that's better at it than this.

Since you didn't seem to understand my post, they were trying to relate to what is flying around in the media these days, and since it happens to be basically anti-bush and anti-war, they took those concepts and rolled with them, in some of the funnier ways I've seen lately. What am I, their fucking accountant? All I said was that the movie was terrible, I said nothing about how much money it was making (aside from that the theater was packed).

I don't care about whether or not it was a good business decision, or if it's making money, why are you bringing this shit up?

Pretty much; the best part of it for me was when the theater I was in fucked up the audio and we got like 5 minutes of the movie with local advertisements in place of dialogue. The whole experience was very annoying, as the incredible number of people in attendance included at least 7 of those motherfuckers who laugh at EVERY fucking thing that takes place. Any humor that might have been rather amusing was overshadowed by some cunt guffawing every 3 seconds.

I know you're a fucking retard and not worth responding to, but have you even seen a Simpsons episode in the past decade? The Simpsons has basically been a vehicle for celebrity cameos and political satire practically since Conan O'Brien left the show.
