Racism is wrong, words are not.
Or... you could just not use 1 word out of thousands simply to make things much easier?
If being offended by a simple word is dumb, then refusing not to use said word (resulting in negative consequences in some situations) which is not at all lacking in synonyms is even dumber.
I agree that it would be extremely stupid to do something like yell racial slurs while you run through that section of a town, but please tell me where I said we should all run around screaming nigger, or other such racial slurs. I'm in no way
refusing not to say it -- I
do refuse to use said word except in certain circumstances with people I am very familiar with and who know that I mean no ill from it, or to make a point. However, do you not see my point that the word's negative or positive connotation should be based on who says it? Clearly in the case of the OP there was no shred of racism, would you not agree? If a non-racist says such a thing why should they be punished -- why should people be offended. It is entirely likely that in this case the word was used to mean "friend" most likely aimed at a White or Asian person. Why is this wrong? I completely understand that using these words can cause an uproar even when said in an non-hostile non-racist way, but I'm saying that we as human beings should get over this and change our thought process on it, because it is a word and not a tool of evil.
You apparently completely missed my point, and I hope you see it now.
