Yes. Doctor Who is hadns down one of the most well written shows ever. If you ever watch the old seasons where one of the bad guys is literally a trash can turned upsidedown with a plunger for an arm you realize the only way anything like that could possibly last 28ish seasons is because of the writing.
As a list of a couple of british comedies:
catherine tate show
little britain
extras
what other TV is there...well, I don't watch much other foreign TV, but a couple of movies, like Crying Fist (has the main actor from oldboy, another movie everyone should watch) and Save the Green Planet.
On the topic of comedies, "They Think Its All Over" and "Have I Got News For You" are both really funny. Maybe not as funny if you don't know much about recent events in the UK though.. But still worth a watch.
I think most of the jokes would go over americans heads. I never really got american shows like they do, so I'm sure it's the same for them.
Top Gear (which I love)
Corner Gas (I think they're going to start airing it in the states pretty soon)
Brent Butt is quite the hilarious comedian, hell, I still laugh at his name.
You guys still don't have it? Season four just ended up in Canada here...Originally Posted by Elesirdur
Anyways, Kenny vs. Spenny here, albeit I haven't been able to catch it on TV much these days due to lack of channels sporting the show that my current subscription has access too, which is a shame.
(last episode I seen was the 'Who is the better woman?', classic)
My parents seem to like their Heartbeat though, seen a few episodes myself, just something I don't mind watching, but isn't something I'd normally tune into.
Otherwise, not much else for me with regards to TV, now, if we were talkin about movies on the other hand...
what is corner gas?
comedy? drama? dramedy? etc?
Also Black Books was a great show.
Comedy, perhaps "dramedy"?Originally Posted by TheCursedGatts
