I bought a cassette of german drinking songs at the thrift store for a quarter.
Did you drink to it?
and sang along badly as I lack singing talent, knowledge of german, and was tipsy
What the hell is this?
I don't know what it says but looks like his Jersey and German pride are fighting with each other.
He just wants someone to talk german with.. I think.
I said I wanted to start a thread for German folk (and there are quite a few) to speak in the native language. I also (badly) said I am American and am still learning my ancestors tounge, so forgive my grammatical errors.
Hey, Puerto Ricans (and in NJ accent, thats pronounced "Porto Rick-an" haha) are proud, Italians are openly proud...just giving Germans a place to talk. Threads are free and all.
just an idea
since when did JP go all germanic?
I didn't. I was born on an American Army base in Munich, and am American by birth. Im pure blooded German (dad was born and raised in Griez), and about a year ago I saw a Puerto Rican flag on a car and got pissed at myself because I didn't show the pride of my ancestors too. You have to appreciate where you're from, I really feel. It's who you are, it's the blood in your veins.
Ever since then, I've traveled back "home" to Munich, met half my family that I hadn't met before, and added a minor (I have a BA, but decided to go back to school @ Rowan) in German. I hated that I didnt know anything about my past or my family history. I've been learning the language of where I'm from too.
If you're Irish, Italian, Mexican or Japanese -- be proud. It's who you are.
I would speak german back to you, but it's the summer and I have last it all in only a few months. Gonna study abroad in Munich for a semester in a year though :D
