I'm not going to try to fight here. But, doesn't this endorse the buying & selling of characters, by allowing this to be discussed here?

Because I guess I don't think in the same terms as other people, let me clarify what I mean.

When I first read this thread, all I could ask myself was, "Why would anyone give two shits whether a purchased character was any good?" The only thought I could come up with, was, "The OP wants to know if he should associate himself with this purchased character." Which in turn, lead me to making my replies. Buying or selling of gil, characters, or items, is about the most heinous form of cheating that takes place in the game. Speed hacking, POSing, etc, are still unforgivable crimes against the FFXI community, no doubt, but supporting this behavior, or even being a part of it, offends me on a very personal level.

Because of this, I'm naturally very defensive of my community. BG is a great forum, with loads of helpful information, and wiser opinions than you'd ever find in the likes of Zam or KI. Because I treasure this resource, I consider it a very functional part of the FFXI community. So whenever it seems to me as if someone is dragging in cheating, and trying to say it's acceptable to them, I get offended. I get defensive. I get really upset.

Even in your own post, Sonomaa, you admit that the OP wants to know if the character can be re-bought, or otherwise obtained. So basically you understand that he's putting out feelers to continue the RMT process. Honestly, it seems pretty ridiculous, in the first place, that someone would sell their character. But then for them to go, "Well the person I sold it to doesn't deserve it anymore, so I'll just get it back." What will probably happen, I'm guessing, is that the seller will call up SE, and make an uproar that their account was stolen. And so whoever the sap was that bought it, will get ripped off, and the character, which they paid real money for, will be returned, and the buyer will be left, holding his dick. Now I don't have much sympathy for the buyer, as he also supports RMT, obviously, but that does rip off another human being.

So to conclude, it made me really angry to see that someone would come on a place that I think of as a valuable resource, and start trying to figure out how the system could be cheated to retrieve a sold-off character. I recognized that problem pretty much immediately. Perhaps I jumped to some conclusions, but in the end, my conclusions seemed based on accurate facts, if not at least, just the actual spirit of the OP. If BG is a place where RMT is permitted and condoned, even by inadmission, then I guess I just thought wrongly of the higher moral standing involved. My LS and my friends in game all share the utmost in standards for our actions and the attitudes of involved parties. In continuing with this higher moral value of the game, I guess I just hoped that the forums would remain clean of such anti-community behavior.

If I'm in the wrong here, I'm happy to hear the other side of the argument. Name calling isn't needed. I'm not a flame-war-seeking forum troll. I'm a regular joe looking to try and figure out what all the hubub is about, and make my own fights to keep my community clean.

Let me make this perfectly 100% clear, the buying or selling of accounts, that means the asking someone if they are selling or seeing if anyone is buying your account is strictly forbidden, if you are caught doing so, you will be banned permanently from the forums, no exceptions.

Just letting you guys know that this kid will not return my character. I would like it back and he changed all the info so i can not retireve it from SE bc the CC info is different. Tell the kid ill take the next step if he doesnt get in touch w/ me. Stupid that SE wont give me my char info bc of the dam CC info. Authorities wont do shit look at the hundreds of other posts, you just gm call it have your cd keys cc info etc, if it was sold then you are screwed over. If it was hacked from you, then there is a chance. If you want to get in touch with ket go to alla, dragoon forums or kujata server forums. He used it to try and apply to a hnm ls because his drg doesn't have sea. Gl getting your character back.

If you have personal connections on Kujata he belongs to um...a LS called "Chaotic Union", only shellholders I know for that LS are manifest/Pagronith, although I don't know what they can do about the situation...they're both rather passive =_=

Whats funny is that he lists a main job in his sig on Alla...lol as a 75 sam. Give him hell or just black ball him so he gets the point. In all honesty, he should never even had gotten access to the character bc he got my brother to give him the character while i was out of town. Made up some excuse for why, but while i was away i found out that a few of ppl had returned to the game and i had changed my mind. Didnt think anything of it bc we were supposed to get together when i got back and discuss it.

If that is all true then I'm sorry it happened like that, personally not getting involved with this one, your best idea is to contact him on Alla maybe make a mule on kujata to try to contact him if he refuses go the gm route. Wish you the best of luck in it.

He logged on one day saying one of his friends was giving him a character, I didn't ask much about it. Never really bothered, lol.

Well i want it back. He got the info from my brother while i was out of town and did not tell me about it. Yes i was considering giving him the character but i wanted to discuss w/ him face to face before i did anything. And now he is refusing to answer calls bc he's wrong and the sam is better equipped. I know we arent supposed buy or sell but i am willing to pay him to get it back. Please dont ban me for the comment but i like ffxi and i feel i have been wronged and for those of that have seen the character, youunderstand why i want it back.
