Re: Low #s events with a COR

for COR to deserve a slot in any low #s situation SE really needs to come out with AF+1 and, mostly, AF2.
what's quite ridiculous of playing corsair right now is that nothing (aside QD damage AF hat) enhances its job traits/abilities. nothing.
even SMNs have a few pieces reducing BP times, enhancing avatars and so on.

any job piece enhancing Phantom Roll would be the bread and butter of corsair. something that could turn roll results like you have that job in pty for example. it would add much more tactit and possibilities, like actually using BST or PUP rolls in HNM situations, or BLU roll on tanks, or just a reliable (2mp/tick average) refresh.

right now COR is nothing but a funny, cute and charismatic job. it only works in very specific settings and feels useless in everything else. oh and it's the worst soloer ever 8)

Our tank PT never have a blu, so is Magus' Roll good even if no blu is present?

COR in BLM PT at Faf is fun for crazy MB's... if you SC/MB Kirin, Warlock's Roll is pretty nice, but it's a huge pain in the ass if you're kiting. I remember when I lvl'd COR in a manaburn static, since we were fighting mobs much higher level than normal, the Warlock's Roll helped a ton and we probably couldn't do it without it, even without a RDM in PT to enhance Warlock's Roll. As far as tank PT goes on COR, for wyrms and shit my LS usually uses 3 tanks so there's not room for a COR when you throw in a RDM, BRD, and WHM.

COR = Tank PT <3, especially if taking unavoidable magic damage (ie: Wyrms)
I was in the tank party as COR for a couple Ouryu fights, using Magus Roll and Evoker's on everyone. With no BLU in the party, Magus Roll should have been providing around 9-10 MDB, but it was hard to tell since our tanks had their full earth-resist gear on and with Earth Carol + fully merited Bar-spells they were taking almost no damage anyway. Tank party setup was PLD/NIN, NIN/DRK, WHM, RDM, BRD, COR I believe.

Some day I'd like to try a 2 tank, WHM, BRD, BLU, COR tank party setup on a Wyrm. Barspells + Diamondhide + enhanced Magus Roll would be sexy.

Edit: I would never recommend putting a COR in a tank party above a WHM or BRD; their buffs are just too good to pass on. I don't see any reason why COR couldn't take the spot of a tank party RDM, though, assuming the WHM is handling Hastes. With Snake Eye + Fold, it's not hard for a COR to keep a fairly consistent 2-4 mp/tick refresh on everyone.

You could also throw a SMN in the tank party to help out Evoker's Roll and buff the tank with even more magic resistance, which we've done. The problem is really that you have so many great jobs that could go in the tank party, you start to not have room for tanks anymore
