Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

Does anyone actually level up 2 separate chars on 2 separate accounts, or do the rest of you (like myself) think that anyone who has this has bought an account?

I'm interested to know if any of you have actually done this, or know of anyone who has done this legitimately? I know of people who have multiple chars with lvl 75 jobs, but never on different accounts, only on the same one. My only guess is that a dualbox one would be a high level crafter that has been bought perhaps?

I only ask because we had a few people jump onto Phoenix, one of whom has a dualbox char and I'm naturally suspicious of most people switching servers. They claim to have come from Bismarck, but they changed their names if they did (which also says "I'm running away from a bad background" to me).

I leveled my dualbox character by myself, 75 BRD now. Well, 74 since I deleveled but that's not what you asked for. I also know another person who leveled a dualbox character (Septimus), several others have 1 account with 2 characters... most other people that I know who dualbox got their characters by friends quitting and leaving their characters with trusted friends.

It's not unheard of to level another account yourself. Someone in my LS has done it (Taru 75BLM and Elvaan 75MNK), and I've known a few people in other LSs that have done similar, sometimes with very many more jobs. If the account wasn't leveled from level 1, it seems to usually be the account of a friend who quit or similar. I don't really know of many people who RMT accounts just to SERIOUSLY dual box, meaning something more than using the other account as a Tiamat mule or a self-PL.

Ive leveled characters given to me up from mid 50s to 75 but never fresh, its hard to decide between starting fresh and a free character with several 75s or close and nice gear.

My 75 PLD friend gave me her account when she quit the game. I didn't sell it due to the good times we had, so I now use her to PL my jobs to 30~37. She has Sea and Sky Access and even a Satvaa (we did CoP together) so it's useful to have an extra PLD around. I don't buy her a ton of gear though, since tank jobs just aren't my forte or for me personally.

As for 2Boxing, I have a laptop and a PC both with FFXI on them. It's a bit more confusing switching between compact keys and default ones for PLing, and having to look at two screens at once, however if you're alt-tabbing two characters on the same PC you will have an easier time, lol.

As for the whole background thing on bought accounts, find out as much as you can about who buy and sell accounts, look on their friends list to see if there's any other douches on there, check their AH sales. I'd only let friends or people I trust PL me or let me use their account.

When I decided to pick up FFXI for Xbox 360 and had an extra content ID sitting around as a result, I went ahead and made a second account. Rather than play the second character on my Xbox, I play it on my laptop on my desk next to my PC monitor, though. I've been ever so slowly leveling up Thief on my second character. Up to level 68 at the moment. I think it's taken me a few years. Nice companion for farming. :D

I leveled both my character separately and together, they hit 75 within a month of each other but way longer than I should have taken. I've been playing since original NA launch.

My original thought was "leveling monk sucks balls, i never get invites, i'll level whitemage!" But my character was a Galka, and I didn't have any god damn clue how to make money for MP gear < level 30. I made the decision to stop leveling melee when I got kicked from a party my first time in crawlers nest for another Mnk 3 levels higher than me, quote: "Because he'll do more damage".*

My boyfriend had tried the game and didn't like it. He had an incredibly gay looking elf that is my equip mule. Since the game was on his tab (and was, until his card expired last year lololol) I made a Taru white mage and went from there. **

If I ever sold either of my accounts and the person who bought them wasn't a moron, no one outside 3 people on my flist would ever be able to tell a difference, if I moved to a different server that number goes to zero. My point is if you have someone who's competent but you have scruples about their legitimacy just ask them and see if you get a lot of smoke or not and you'll probably have your answer. Otherwise if they're not a dumbass don't look a gift horse in the mouth

I've been duo-box since my brother basicly quit the game (around the beginning of 2006). Its not very hard if you have a laptop and a desktop pc right next to eachother. You just need to make easy to use macros and know where they are. Obviously I'll never really be as good as a single-box player because kiting+duo-box don't go well together but if you have jobs like BLM and you don't have to move much its real easy.

Heck, I've even done things like proto-ultima playing 2 blms and a brd. :D

I and a RL friend bought my alt from another RL friend who quit the game.. and then he came back, lol. Basically we all share the account now.

I gave my friend my account when I quit, gave away most of my equipment as well.

Now that I was back, one of my good in game friends quit, he gave me his account. I mostly use it to mule, garden and plvl myself. It's nice as he already has sky and sea completed.

I had two friends leave me with their characters when they quit - one of them, I didn't level at all, but took him from PM2-5 to sea (lvl62 with no sky, but sea - GO!) and , while the other I'm working on getting to 75 and didn't touch missions for the longest of time. I'm getting him to sea now, though. First friend recently came back, and I made him zone into Al'Taieu, which immediately got me a "Where the flying fuck AM I?!"

I had a second account for a time, until the original player came back.
I'd agree, most legit players you see with multiple accounts have them because they were given them by friends who quit.

I have had 2 friends quit the game who have given me their accounts. So, Ruke and I basically share 4 accounts (his, mine, 75 THF (TH4) BLM BRD, 75 WHM BRD MNK NIN). One or both of us is pretty much guaranteed to be 2 boxing at any given time. We have leveled crafting skills on one of them and gotten both of them merits/assault/mission rank ups/good gear for both of them, but neither of us actually have time to level up other jobs on them.

However, I do know people who have leveled up characters on separate accounts on their own, so it's not unheard of.

I don't actually know anyone who purchased their second accounts though. Ever person I know with multiple accounts has gotten them from friends who quit or leveled them up on their own.

I have level 2 accounts since the gecko start. I make a perfect setup for myself.

Taru had all mage jobs. I have 5 75
Galka had all mellee jobs. I have 9 75

I have level solo every piece of experience for both characters.
It is just fun to perfect the perfect race for the jobs.

My second account was given to me by a friend at the end of a long and convoluted situation that left him with two accounts and barely the means to pay for one, and my gf's was given to her by a friend who quit. When I still HNM'd, I actually used my second account more often than Ferien, since it was a Taru BLM and Fer was still PLD-only. Now it's basically my Clothcraft mule (was at 89 when it fell into my hands). GF constantly dualboxes, since she's got WHM and the other acct is a BRD, and we usually need both at nearly everything we do >.>

I only know of one person who bought his second account, and he's pretty terrible at it.

i've had 4 second accounts from people who quit.

1st one deactivated cause it didn't have any 75 jobs and didn't want to level it.
2nd one returned to original owner who quit again and decided to deactivate this time.
3rd one gave to another LS member because i didn't want to buy ToAU for 3 different accounts.
4th one got "hacked" and is now deactivated.

didn't pay anyone for anything besides the fee of keeping the accounts active and i bought ToAU for the 4th account.

i know around 12 people who have 2nd accounts and i'm pretty sure only one of them bought that second account.

After I leveled WAR, I decided that I needed to have a little more versitility so I decided to level up a second character. It was slow going at first, it took me a year to get WHM and BRD to 75 and BLM to 60, but it was totally worth it. It got to create the exact character that I wanted with absolutely no baggage and no worries about someone wanting to play the game again. I can't imagine not having Atum now. <3 my Galkan Devotion Machine.

My first dualboxed character was given to me by a friend who quit(About 3 years ago). I actualli had a fun time dualboxing and leveling both my own char and my 2nd char to 75 in the same static. I still dualbox this character normalli, using two seperate computers. The equipment/access the character was to due to my effort. I do have some other characters that friends have trusted to me while they are unable to play as often, but I don't realli consider them my chars, as most of their eq/merits/access aren't my own work.
