Re: Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

I have been given two accounts by friends in the past:

#1 - taru: 75 BST - he's returned & quit about two or three times now. Should add that I actually self-PL'd about five or six jobs to 37 using BST/WHM.
#2 - hume: 75 NIN & WAR plus 60 PLD and 53 THF w/ CoP done, plus they made it very clear they were done with FF.

Plus friends that have said I could use accounts whenever, are fairly inactive the past several months, and if any of them quit I could probably just take over if I wanted:

    #3 - galka: 75 MNK
    #4 - elvaan: 75 DRK / SMN / BST / PLD
    #5 - galka: 75 THF & WHM

Re: Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

Leader of the JP LS I do Dynamis/Limbus with has at least 5 current L75s, at least 4 of which can be online at the same time. He actively plays 2 at once in Dynamis/Limbus, and he's levelled all of them (with one possible exception) himself. Add to that another 2xL75s that have been banned for MPK, and you have multiboxing taken to a pretty high level. He even has his own merit parties...

Re: Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

EDIT: Just realized I missed Syl's post earlier, she beat me to it. D: All well, I'll leave this post up anyway.

Me and Sylphet have two other characters we control currently, both of which were given for free by friends.

First is Noy, who is primarily a 75 THF with TH4, but also a 75 BRD and BLM. When he quit he felt bad about letting his character go to waste, having obtained a good deal of rare/ex gear from the LS, so he offered it to anyone in the LS to be used to assist us. Me and Syl were the only volunteers I believe, and we've had Noy since then (like 2 years now). Also left us with about ~67 Woodworking, which we brought up to 100. But, left us with almost no non-rare/ex gear, so we basically had to gear up him from nothing to make him more effective on his jobs. We've also considered leveling his RDM up from 54 to 75 at many times, and hopefully will some day!

Second is Miruka, who was a long time friend of me and Syl. It sucked to see her go but it was for the best with her RL getting much more busy, and long story short we ended up getting her character shortly after. She's a 75 WHM, NIN, MNK, BRD and has all the basic gear/merits for all of them. Also have been attempting to get her merits so her WHM can play a tank PT-esque roll if needed for an LS event or farming.

Then, I also use Syl's account rather often for misc things. So we both basically control four characters between us. Oh, and for a while we also had Mithrandir (75BLM), but after getting Miruka we gave Mith away to another LS member that currently uses him rather often for misc things. So really, I don't see how someone just giving their character to a friend or anything of the like is so hard to believe. I thought it was rather common.

And yeah I also know quite a few people that have leveled up 75 jobs on different accounts as well, so people definitely do it.

Re: Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

I've had a second account given to me by a friend since 2004. Character is only 68 RDM, so not 75, but I have used it sporadically to dual stuff. Mostly I just use the account for crafting so that I can craft concurrently while doing real activities on my main character. The account now has 3x100 and I'm working on the 4th...

Re: Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

I borrowed a RL friend's account to dual box and PL myself and many other things.

Now I wish I could just split one of my synthesis mules to a second account so I can do 2 things at once to be more time efficient. :(

Friend of mine who quit gave me her 75RDM/PLD/MNK/THF with 100+6 woodworking account.. thats how I self-PL.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

It got to create the exact character that I wanted with absolutely no baggage and no worries about someone wanting to play the game again. I can't imagine not having Atum now. <3 my Galkan Devotion Machine.

This is similar to my situation. had rdm and brd at 75 for awhile. Really was itching to do ninja, but all my merits and tons of gear was for mages.

So decided to make a mithra from scratch. she's lvl 71 so far and I've gotten her sky, and she's at 4-3 on sea missions.

I don't mind having to redo it though, was fun. :D

Plus now I can craft on my mage while doing things on my nin.

I'd agree, most legit players you see with multiple accounts have them because they were given them by friends who quit.
Yep. My friend quit and I took over his 75 whm account. It's great for PLing, R3ing, scouting for HNM.

Re: Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

I have 3 characters ^^/ Both belonged to old friends who quit sometime back. Being able to self BRD PL yourself, tri-box assault (I acutally tri-box in Einherjar when we're short on mages), ENMs, having multiple veteren crafts is fucking sweet, let me tell you. And If any of my Ninja friends ever quit I will probably cancel one and replace with that. RDM + BRD + NIN and I would be able to take most instances solo. :D

2 separate characters on 2 accounts is great. good for low level PL stuff.

Waiting on official word that my friend is "quitting" before I do any substantial upgrades.

What I never got is why one person, levels two completly different characters on the same account. Not only cant you have both on at the same time, why the hell would you not want all that effort youre putting in to be on the same character? Recapping all skills, leveling subjobs, getting fame, doing quests and missions, its just dumb to do it twice.

Two friends of mine are brothers who leveled seperate characters on the same account. They've been trying to get SE to separate them for years >.>

Some people just want to play their job to the fullest.

Merits are shared. You can only have 1 zilart earring or cop ring at a time.

Someone in my Linkshell is doing exactly that. Her main is a 75 BRD and RDM, and she's leveling WHM on the 2nd character.

I recently bought the PC version of FFXI and figured I might as well use the free month as an excuse to create a second account in hopes of getting a 75 Taru BLM. (Also, Elvaan WAR75 and DRK75 are a dime a dozen these days.)

Re: Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

I have two different accounts and play both of them myself. I lvl'd up a rdm,smn on my first account...

When my ls went through a hard time and had no whm's... well...i had a ps2 sitting around... was board with the game and decided to add a different dimension to it. I really enjoy it now. I lvl'd up whm to 75 so i have a little raiser i can bring to most events and i'm currently lvling up blm(60) on it.

I think most people who lvl up another character from scratch do it so they can match race to job more efficiently.

It's also really nice to be able to power lvl in this game at your own whim... nice for crafting... and its still something i did completely by myself. I don't really think it's that unheard of for people to do this... of course it's much easier to take over an account... but this game is more about what YOU accomplish and now as a full time player i pack x2 the punch.

Best part about it is the leveling and being able to be in two places at once... i use it a lot for getting ToD's, raises for people, pwr lvling new jobs. People are very appreciative when they lvl with me... i put in x2 the work but i get twice the reward so in the end i think it was all worth it^^

It also costs twice as much but the way i justify it to myself is more of an opportunity cost. If you have any job that pays relatively well and you aren't strapped for cash it's only about an extra hour of your life to afford it... for all the nice opportunity it offers it is well worth it.

Yea, I think most folks who have this setup inherited characters from friends who quit (I have 3 chars atm).

Re: Dualbox 2 lvl 75 Chars?

I have two accounts whom I've level'd almost exclusively by myself that I play near fulltime together(not always doing the same thing), been doing that since NA release.

I also think most setups are inherited characters, it just isn't always the case.

one person in BG does it for the exact opposite reason, Galka mage, Taru melee.

whether it's dumb or not is subjective, i would never do it but i'm also not qualified to judge how other people want to challenge themselves within respectable limits.

Hey, my second character is a Galka Mage too... >_>

It was a challenge, but in the end it was worth it. I have Devotions that rip worlds apart, and I'm still not done with his HP gear yet.
