It would be a Colibri camp nerf... just like the Aern nerf. Black mages weren't changed between aern smns -> aern nerf.
A Colibri camp nerf would mean that 20k/hr would no longer be easily attainable, and there would be three less camps for TP burns to merit in. Mire is always overcrowded and there's only two decent Mamool camps. That means TP burns would have to go back to subpar stuff like Trolls in Mount Zhayolm. A Colibri camp nerf is a TP burn nerf.
So when mamool camps are empty we're back to TP burns being unnerfed? It's all or nothing, I can still log on at a different time as everyone else and get the good camps, or would you call that a "primetime nerf" ?

I think that the devs have developed a healthy fear of nerfs, with good reason. CoP was about the dev team inflicting their view of what the game should be onto the players, let the consequences be damned. ToAU seems like it was much more focused on making the players happy, even right off the bat. (W. Turban in the first update, free with the purchase of 20k XP in ToAU zones.)

The last thing Square wants to do is to have another Ranger Nerf debacle. Whether they like it or not, TP burning is here to stay until an even more efficient way of gathering XP is discovered. A straight-out nerf of TP burns is going to rub a lot of people the wrong way, I don't see them doing that considering how much work they have put into making the player base happy lately. They can give bonuses to sc/mb parties, but trying to hurt any other form of parties entails too much risk.

I will never for the life of me understand why BLM bitch so much about not being invited to PT. I loved soloing to 75 and it taught me so much about the job and how to solo. Not to mention that it's one of the few jobs that can competently solo for good exp.

Some people don't like to solo. Some enjoy the party dynamic or being able to play with friends. Competent solo = 5k/hr, Retarded party = 5k, competent party = 10k, excellent parties = 15k-20k. So no, solo xp is not "good" comparatively. I enjoy soloing BST and BLM... but when you are faced with wanting to get 200 merits, you don't want to be doing it 5k at a time.

Fair enough the bolded part, but whoever has / wants 200 merits, surely has some TPburn friendly job. Or not o.O ?

I hate soloing. It's boring and makes me want to do something else after about an hour.

I have a 75 BLM and needed merits, at the time manaburning was still good, ToAU wasnt around and TP burns happened in KRT for MNKs only, so it was good at the time. When ToAU came out, no one wanted BLM and I was like fuck, I need merits. I got 75 BST before this all happened, but lolBST, so I decided to lvl WAR, yes, I leveled WAR just to merit. Needless to say though, the time I spent leveling WAR was easily made up with the fast build up of merits.

BLM solo is nice to pick up a few extra experiance here and there, but it cant beat 25k/hr PTs.

It was a comparison to the jobs that solo, not against merit PTs obviously.

If you want 200 merits so bad, take a couple months and level BRD; that way you'll be more diverse for your LS, and can merit with your friends!

Edit; Any good BLM manaburn can make good exp. Not comparable to a TP burn, but still good nonetheless.

I seem to remember when melee's did nothing but bitch about the exp manaburns were getting at one time and screamed sea nerf then SE did the complete opposite in ToAU putting blm's where melee's used to be and melee over the top and all of a sudden its "ok" now. Gimme a fucking break.

That's retarded... If you leveled war from 1-75 solely for the purpose of meriting then you're dumb. The EXP to get from 1-75 is about 800k. That's 80 merits. So in the time it took you to level WAR to 75 you could have easily gotten 80 merits, if not more (because you don't have to LFP and such on BLM) just from soloing. Then once you got 75 WAR, assuming the average pty can get you 15k xp/hr on WAR and 7.5k xp/hr on BLM (soloing), you'd have to need more than 160 merits to even break even on the time investment. Then when you consider the gil investment, LFP time, etc., you'd probably need 250 merits to even justify it.

Just because that was the initial reasoning doesn't mean he doesn't use WAR for more than that NOW. I started out wanting to level RDM for the same reason, but then my static needed NIN, so I switched, but I'm enjoying NIN as much as I do BLM, so it's win/win for me.

    Re: August Update

Well my post was based on the fact that he said he leveled WAR solely for meriting. I mean if his LS uses him as WAR on some stuff, more power to him.
