Am I the only person who didn't like Kefka? I generally get bored of 'bad guys' that are 'bad guys' for no reason. Kefka was extremely cliche and did bad things just to piss you off and be a douche. Sephiroth at least had a story behind him.

Every characters went "emo" at some point, including Zidane and Cloud, but I don't see any problem with that. >_> Since when is it bad to have a character that get depressed when shit happen to him?
Zidane had more of a reason to go depressed though...

Zidane was only emo for like, all of 5 minutes while they had the very awesome "You're not alone!" music playing in the background. (seriously, it's probably my favorite piece out of any of the PSX FFs..)

    Re: FFVII question!

First, depressed != emo. Emo is a look as much as an attitude, although we tend to use it for one or the other a lot of the time. Therefore, even though Tidus gets depressed a few times, his hair stays bleached blonde, and therefore he isn't emo.

Second, even though the characters in 6 weren't interchangable, I still picked 3 (Sabin, Edgar and Mog) and played the whole second world with them. 9 and 10 were the ones with the non-interchangable characters for most of the game, although in 10 they became identical only if you PLed to run them all the way around the grid. I think in 10 they really made an effort to give each character a set job, they just focused on the main game and let you remove that separation after reaching the monster arena if you wanted.

    Re: FFVII question!

i'm not a ff7 fanboy homo but being that I played FF from the very first released on NES and every NA released FF since that one including gameboy ones and mystic quest etc... FF7 was groundbreaking in the FF series cause it took it out of the 2 1/2 D realm and gave it a completely different look and actually made a game that has well over a hundred hours of content available if you really wanna do a lot, stuff that was unheard of before it.

Like I said i'll never say it's the best game ever, because every game gets surpassed at some point. But few games have been as revolutionary as ff7 was at the time.

My favorite FF I think remains FFT, FFX and FF12 with FFXI lagging behind those.

Yeah, that one was pretty awesome too. I also like FF8's The Legendary Beast (During the fight with Griever when he uses his special move on you.)

That's a good reason to feel depressed? Zidane didn't hurt anyone, and has no reason to feel bad about it. I never quite understood his mood swap in that scene, because that's something he would normally just brush off.

Cloud went "emo" [crazy] for a bit, but his brain was already fucked up by mako experiment, making him emotionally unstable. I guess his reaction is understandable based on that.

Squall isn't the sociable type and rely on himself only, but it never stopped him from doing the the right thing. He doesn't waste his time crying and whining about how hopeless everything is. The only time you will see him really depressed is when Rinoa get captured, but that's a perfectly normal emotion for a scene like this.

Tidus...I can't say I remember much about FFX, but I don't remember him being negative. One could argue he is fruity, but that's not emo.

Anyway, I was just saying it's stupid for people to call everything emo. It's normal for a character to think everything is "hopeless" when they face a problem, usually death. Having emotion doesn't make you emo.

For real, its one of the few song I can listen in loop for hours. I wanted to mention the song title in my last post, but wasn't sure if anyone would remember it.

    Re: FFVII question!

Tidus is super emo when he meets Jecht.
"I HATE YOU DAD!" oh shut up faggot stop crying.

Speaking of good FF9 music, Hunter's Chance was awesome too... (plays during the hunt in Lindblum and during the secret boss fight with Hades in the water/ocean room of Memoria in CD4.)
here's the Black Mages' version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AtmYTax7B4

Protecting my Devotion is pretty good too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4B6qiTAx ... ed&search=

FF9 is one of the only OST's I can just listen to all day long lol.

    Re: FFVII question!

Chrono Cross, FF8, FF9. That's when video game music was at its best.

Hunter's chance is awesome, but I think I prefer the one ingame over black mage version. Might just be the youtube quality that annoy me tho >_> "Protecting my devotion" is great too, learned it on both piano and guitar.

I can think of many other good song in FF9. Freya's city, freya's theme, alla flammenco, ipsen's castle, jester of the moon...etc

    flammenco is pretty awesome heh..

And I don't generally like Black Mages' takes on the songs, but they did make a pretty good "Clash on the big bridge" and "The man with the machine gun" (I like the second one mainly because they entered a little part of "The legendary beast" in the middle of the song, makes it sound really really good.)

Hunter's Chance challenge version is one of the only Black Mages Stepmania songs I can't get AAA on yet.

I love all three of those songs, but generally I agree with you. I also like their take on the Jenova theme.

Speaking of which, "The Oath" from FF8 is an amazing piece of art as well (and I downloaded the full FF OST a while ago, they added bunch of random stuff in there including an arranged version of it which is amazing..)

    Oh and...

    Re: FFVII question!

not really FF related, more villian related since I saw mention of Kuja/Seymour being better villians than Sephiroth...i just wanted to throw out there that Albedo from Xenosaga has got to be my favorite villian in any game. fucked up, sadistic, vile, and i think how poetic he is exaggerates all of his other qualities, he was brilliant.
