I run a league on yahoo that I just checked.

It allows 20 Teams per league. I know the list is 30+ people long, but I don't see any other place to set a league up for 30 teams.

I'd like to at least wait til 2-3 preseason games are played, if not all 4. There's just too much to learn in them especially in a league with 28 starting rb's every week.


Also people can't see that stuff until they get into the league, so probably no one will have the name done that way. You can change your yahoo nickname though.

Aright, sorry to be getting back so late.

I would love to make multiple leagues, but I don't have time to coordinate it all. What we could do, if you someone is out there wanting to make a league, is to make 2 leagues -- I'll commish one, someone else can commish the other, and we can make playoffs for each respective league @ 14-16, so week 17 is open. Then, we can make a "BG FFL CHAMP" for the two champions of each league, to play head to head (based on points) for week 17.

So: two 12 man leagues (I know, still some people will be left out), with each league being considered a "division" -- from there, we can do 4 man playoffs for each league, week 15-16, and then week 17 could be the champions of each league facing off -- granted, this won't be recorded via Yahoo, but we could easily just do that.

There are two big pros and cons to doing this--
pro: more people can play in the league, and we can make a title "BG FFL Champion" more legitimate

con: because we'll have two leagues, there will be two draft sets (i.e., one team from each league will have, say, LaDainian Tomlinson) -- the con here is that if there is an idiot in the league, it really screws things up, because you can have a powerhouse team (like a team with LT, LJ and all that crap that sometimes happens in shit leagues), which really would mess with the integrity of the league as a whole.

I know for a fact, last year, we had a player in the BG league that really tried to ruin things -- he drafted Edge #1 overall, and I was too naive to stop him really. There are ways around this con though -- and that would necessitate constant communication between commissioners. For instance, we can hold offline drafts (but hold mock online drafts for people to participate), and monitor how people draft -- so we can find out who's being a douchebag. Picking peyton manning first is a shock, but its not something that will kick someone out of a league -- picking Deshaun Foster first, though, will get you the boot.


To be honest, I would love to have 4 divisions, four SEPERATE leagues, and four commissioners who run things, but it seems too much to handle for now. That would be something in the near future, maybe next year, because we first have to find legitimate players. So, that's just wishful thinking.


So here's the deal.

As of right now, my league is almost booked. We have one open slot, which will be offered to Kurp, Byrd, or Quixon (in that order). We might have maximally 3 open slots, but I do anticipate everyone who played in my league last year to return, although I did kick the aforementioned douchebag.

If the idea of having two divisions (two seperate leagues) explained above is something we want to pursue, then I need a committed commissioner to step forward who can pick up the next prioritized ffl candidates (I have the list, and its in a previous post I made).

There is much to determine -- our draft style, draft dates, etc. I really would like to make this ffl operation into something most football fans of bg can participate in, but that would mean a significant amount of commitment from the players. Either way, reply back with your opinions.

I'll definitely play. I played with my friends for years, but we're not going to this year, so I'm in need of a good league. My schedule is a bit hectic for awhile, so I'd need at least a few days notice before draft day to make sure I can get time off for it.

Since I ain't on a list, i'll make a league for any/all BG'ers who want to play. I will use the default Yahoo! rules and make a live draft for sometime this week. Whatever suits everyone.

I've played Fantasy Football for 12 years and done at least some level of commissioning before, I would be willing to be a commissioner for a second league. I would propose that the commissioners are the commissioners of the opposite league they are playing in, if that's possible.

Tyr, do you have a preferred system to use to track the leagues? ESPN, Yahoo, EA Sports, I believe all have their own systems. The only one I've used in the past is ESPN.com, and I think the best way to do that would be to coordinate a live draft (with the option to preset their list to autodraft) using the other team's system. I haven't done any actual research into the subject, but that's a concern. I don't mind paying a little bit of money to join an online league, but if the commissioner has to plop down a bunch of money and depends on other people to pay them back, that seems like a money sink.

My traditional league uses EA Sports, but there's an actual money reward in that league, so I assume the cost of that comes out of the league kitty. I can look into that, however.

EDIT: In the time that I wrote this message, Deejay stepped up as well. Whatever works is fine, but any leagues involved should probably use the same set of rules, regardless of what actual system is used.

Well, I just setup the league on Yahoo! Sports. For some reason, I thought Tyr was using yahoo, but if you're not I can setup the league on another website.

If the list for Byrd made is final then I can start sending out invites. Just need the green-light from Tyr and we can get things started.

It looks like I'll have a slot for Byrd to get in, unless you want to commish the second league. Otherwise, we'll give the spot to Quixon (don't mean to discredit your efforts in any way Deejay). Or, we could have Deejay commish the second league, and Byrd will come in this league -- set of 11 will go to Deejays.

The league is Yahoo. Currently, we have 9/12 people in the league, with Kurp and Byrd it would make 11/12, and I still have yet to receive a reply from one of our priority players from last year (if I don't get one by Saturday, spot will go to Quixon).

The league's scoring is strictly traditional -- but that's something the second commissioner and I could discuss in person. Currently, I have posted and waiting a reply from my league members on the style of draft we will do -- I am considering doing an auction draft instead of the conventional draft format, but due to Yahoo's system, we'd have to hold a "mock auction draft" through a site (such as fantasyauctioneer.com), and then the commissioner will enter players in Yahoo as if it were an offline draft.

Nonetheless, I'm glad to see the idea of two BG leagues, serving as east/west or north/south divisions can be made. Anyway, Byrd and Deejay, figure it out between you two who wants to be the commissioner. I will keep checking back on this post.

It's all Deejay's if he wants it. I have enough shit in my life I don't need extra hassles, but enjoy FFL enough I can easily and happily make time.

I would propose just picking those 12 people and giving them a Monday-ish deadline for contacting you via PM to give them your e-mail address and their preferred draft times and dates (if doing a live draft). I would prefer sticking with 12 people, if at all possible... 14 teams means your backup QB is somebody like Cleo Lemon or Seneca Wallace, and nobody wants that. I guess it's important that both leagues have the same number of people, otherwise the championship game won't be entirely fair. So if Tyr already has 14 people, 14 it is.
