    Mission Additions and Various Adjustments (08/02/2007)

    The following is a sample of what awaits adventurers in the next version update:

    Treasures of Aht Urghan Missions

    The final battle is about to begin, and the fate of the Empire is in your hands! Join forces with companions new and old to unlock the mysteries hidden in this final chapter of the epic Aht Urhgan missions!

    It is recommended that players who have not yet completed "Playing the Part" avoid viewing the aforementioned link.

    Besieged

    To oppose the overwhelming power of the level 8 beastmen forces, Al Zahbi's five Serpent Generals have spent the previous months honing their skills. In addition, the Empire will be putting into effect a decree which allows additional distribution of temporary items after a certain number of invaders have been defeated. Finally, if the beastmen forces are not defeated by the Empire, or capture the Astral Candesence, they will automatically retreat one Earth hour after their arrival in Al Zahbi.

    Einherjar

    In an effort to lower the difficulty level of Einherjar, the HP of all monsters in the Hazhalm Testing Grounds will be reduced in the upcoming version update.
    We will make further adjustments should this challenging area continue to prove excessively difficult.

    Assault Mission "Nyzul Isle Investigation"

    Currently, the data for the highest floor you have investigated in Nyzul Isle will be deleted after defeating the monsters on Floor 100. Unlike with other floors, this removes the possibility of retrying the floor in an attempt to obtain the treasure you seek.
    As of the next version update, the data will still be deleted after clearing Floor 100, but in exchange for the loss of data, the chance for obtaining the armor pieces will be increased to 100%.
    While clearing to Floor 100 is no easy task, we are sure there are heroes out there that are up to the challenge!

    The Chocobo Hot and Cold Game

    Chocobo Abilities
    Resting your chocobo for thirty six hours (Earth time) after playing the Chocobo Hot and Cold game will allow you to dig twice more, as well as increase your chances to "hit the jackpot" the next time you play the game.
    Furthermore, chocobos of players who succeed at finding treasure in any area three times in a row will temporarily gain the "Treasure Finder" ability. Chocobos that already have "Treasure Finder" will have the effect of the ability temporarily doubled.

    Chocobucks
    A new reward will soon be available in the form of vouchers that can be exchanged for chocobucks, with the chocobuck reward varying with the difficulty of the area.
    The vouchers will always be found inside the treasure chests in addition to the standard rewards.

    Limit Break Quests

    With the current level of advancement of the majority of the player base, it has become increasingly difficult to find fellow adventurers who have yet to complete the limit break quests. In an effort to alleviate the woes of newer players, the limit break quests from level 50 to level 60 will have their difficulty reduced in the following manner:

    Level 50 "In Defiant Challenge"
    Drop rates for the quest items will be improved.

    Level 55 "Atop the Highest Mountains"
    The relative strength of the quest monsters will be reduced so that a party of six level 51 characters will be able to defeat them.

    Deserves its own thread imo, I for one am glad limit break 2 will be easier, I've always wondered what it would be like to finally hit lv55

    Yay missions, yay for Besieged ending in an hour, yay for less HP for the mobs in Hazhalm Testing Grounds, yay for 100% drop rate for armors from floor 100 in Nyzul Isle, yay for resting your chocobo, yay for treasure finder, and yay for chocobuck vouchers. Hot stuff for the first update news.

    I bet the Einherjar was from all the flack they received when the dev admitted you could encounter a room with 0% chance of winning.... Even with this my interest is still not perked for it.

    That's not true. There is always the chance that the Mighty Thor will show up and smite all of the monsters for you.

    I guess this is the only "downer" for me, because it kinda takes away from the epic-ness that Besieged could be sometimes.

    But on the flip side, everyone has gone at one point or another, "Jesus christ is this EVER gonna be OVER?!"

    I bet we see some streaks increase now. Most of the losses on Asura were well over an hour.

    ...except that one level 5 when we had no generals or something silly like that.

    Askar Korazin right here. Lord knows no one will let my BST lot E Body, and I'm too cheap to purchase a Normal one, lol.

    They forgot...

    They forgot to mention that Siren will get Beseiged increased to level 10. Or at least, that's what a handful of Siren players would like to see.

    Guaranteed drops on level 100 Nyzul sounds great, though I wonder if they'll be doing something about the loophole. In the Post Patch Nyzul Assault thread (Event forum) it's proven that the discholder can warp out before the boss dies and retain his clear data, essentially allowing you to farm 100 for pieces for the other 5 people while the discholder gets one crack at it when the group is ready to move on.

    Lower HP sounds great for Einherjar, though I'd rather see a little more non-randomness on what you end up fighting. Double dark elementals can make almost any alliance a bunch of sad pandas.

    So basically this update so far is about streamlining the TAU content. Kind of leads me to believe we won't see a major update until WotG after this. Possibly something small in late October/early November but I really doubt it.

    I'm thinking this was a needed change to prepare for WoTG. Honestly, mostly everyone will be whoring those new areas like we did in ToAU. I can hardly see alot of people on hand for both ToAU Besieged and WoTG "Besieged" with the current conditions. Obligating people to defend that zone for 1.5+hrs is ridiculous. With this way, you can defend aht urghan for an hour, beastmen warp, go back to WoTG areas and do it all over again if you're so inclined...

    Like hell if I ever do another besieged again, cuz ps2 and all

    Why do people think this? Between CoP we had updates that brought us Bahamut v2 and Apocalypse Nigh. Not to mention the whole Fellowship series of quests. Honestly, I am a little surprised that the break between the expansions is so short.

    And them now makinging it essentially easier...won't help with the losing anytime soon.

    There better be a ton of cutscenes for the missions, cause if this is the last of it, and it compares to the other updates, then it all seems kind of rushed. What was in the last update for CoP? the Promathia fight? 8-3 and up?
