Gundam seed wasn't *that* bad. It's true you could make a 12 episodes series with the same content, but there was still some nice scene here and there. Stopped watching Destiny after 15 episodes tho. The beginning was good imo, but I didn't want to wait 30 weeks before something else happen.

I agree, anime/manga are really really bad. And I'm pretty sure there was a volume where it was pure crying. Chobits is ugh, decent at the start, then tries to get all deep and meaningful but ends up failing.

There was so many awkward scene in that show it was painful to watch, starting with the "switch" in episode 1.

i'm sure most of what i'm going to suggest has already been posted, but here it is anyway

Perfect Blue -- this is a movie, i dont remember all the details, but it was a psychological-type anime following the events of an actress (not the best description i know, but i do remember enjoying watching it a long time ago)

Cowboy Bebop -- bounty hunters in space. very cool, great music and action.

FLCL -- this is what got me into anime. only 6 episodes long = concentrated win.

Golden Boy -- another short and sweet series. comedy about a 20something guy getting into trouble with hot chicks as he goes from job to job.
G.T.O (great teacher onizuka) -- comedy about a new middle/high school ex-gang member teacher
Excal Saga -- great satire comedy

R. Kenshin -- wandering samurai etc. very long series and got old for me. the OVA (direct to dvd movie) was excellant though.
Samurai Deeper Kyo -- more kick-ass kenshin.
Samurai Champloo -- 2 samurai escort a young girl around japan searching for her father, well drawn good action sceens
Samurai 7 -- kinda dopey version of the classic movie

Hellsing -- vampire hunters
Vampire Hunter D -- vampire hunters

Ninja Scroll
Berserk -- dark ages, brutish anime
Claymore -- 1/2 demon chicks with huge swords slaying demons, kinda similar to "Blade"

YuYu Hakusho -- spirit hunter
Flame of Recca -- carbon copy of YuYu Hakusho for the most part

Death Note -- psychological thriller, first story arc is the strongest, very interesting intellectual cat and mouse games.

Full Metal Alchimest -- meh, i'm sure you've seen this on tv already

Elfen Lied -- holy crap @ opening scene. too much unnecessary nudity for me, i hope Jesus turned a blind eye while i was watching this.

Crest of the Stars, Banner of the Stars(aka Seikai no Senki), Banner of the Stars II(Seikai no Senki II), and PlanetES are pretty good space type anime if that interests you at all.

Major, Touch(older anime), Hajime no Ippo, and Slam Dunk! are good if you like sports anime.

Hataraki Man, Nana, Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, and Nodame Contabile are also really good imo.

yea something sort of similar happened with my old brother, he really liked Trigun but that's about the only anime that he has ever had any desire to watch.

Currently watching Darker then Black, thou I don't think that there is much of a fan base for it. Well not yet anyways.

probably the latter. my brother is the same way, he enjoys series i tell him to watch but he would never try to find out what anime are good, he just spends his free time on other stuff, probably views anime as beneath him.

I have watched about 8 eps so far, and as far as I can tell it's about this guy named Hei, he has special powers which he uses for the most part to hunt other people with special powers. thou not a lot has been reviled about the world Hei lives in, well for me anyways, like why these people got their powers, why is there a fake night sky, why do the people with powers have a star that they are connected with... a bunch of stuff like that. I like it because a story arc is finished in 2 episodes and because though there is a lot that is told about the characters there are way to many questions that still need to be answered. also the fact that it's relatively new helps out a bunch as well.

I watched the first 4 episode of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei tonight. Was pretty damn good imo. Reminded of Welcome to the NHK, with better art direction and more random stuff. Giving it a score of 10/10 for the originality.

Anime is just a type of media. It's hard to believe someone could hate something as generic as that, without trying seriously at least 5-6 different tye of anime. :wink: If you liked Outlaw star, chance is you would like half of the anime mentioned in this thread, that's why I have trouble to understand your opinion about anime.

Well, Outlaw Star was everything but dark . But either way, there is a bunch of horror/dark anime that have great story. Death Note probably being my favorite.
