Re: Asking what the party set-up is.

    Cannon Fodder?

As Monk, I ask who the tank is, unknown Ninja, even with a Thief, I just sub Nin, yes, at 47... gonna be tanking anyways, may as well have SOMEONE hold hate....

Only been wrong once, and I apologized to the Nin in /t, they said they got sick of shit Nins and decided to level it to see how hard it is to not suck... surprise! It isn't!

Rest of the setup... eh, if it's that bad I'll just go solo, as for rank, I'm on the last fight in 9-2 because the group that I went with to help from 8-1 Windy to 9-1 went on without me when they had said we were regrouping the next day since Moss farming was running long... guess they got two in rapid succession after I had to leave. >.>

    4 75s but PSC? /sigh
Good idea! make them put their badge in auto-translate, you can only put key items(waiting for idiot to say "NUH UH I CAN PUT THAT THING THAT HNM DROPS IN AUTO TRANSLATE AND I DONT HAVE IT NUB SAUCE!) you have in the auto-translate

I'm glad people accept replacement invites when I'm, say, leveling a job in a LS static of 5 at odd hours and the random 6th decides to go after 30 minutes. I also hate when people disband and like...4 of them go back to LFG when some non-essential member has to go (probably their mom surprised them by cooking dinner at the exact same time she does every day).

I know where you're coming from, however. Parties that have people being replaced every 30 minutes rarely get better as they go on (although I have seen it happen).

I'd have to agree with this. If you have a highish merc. rank, it indicates to me that you probably have the skills necessary to interact with at least 2 other people and accomplish goals. I mean, maybe you joined a /sh party of 6 and the other 5 people won despite you (hey, people level to 75 that way), or you 3-boxed some accounts that you RMT'd and soloed Golden Salvage dozens of times, but at least the odds are good that you're not completely hopeless.

I would prefer that SE put this in the search info themselves, however. I'd feel strange putting it in a seacom myself, although I'm not sure why. I guess it feels almost like trying to win an argument by telling someone how many 75s you have (put that in the search info too, while you're at it).

Re: Asking what the party set-up is.

37+ I honestly don't know how people don't exp without a bard. Personally, when I exp, I usually keep 2-3 jobs that I want to exp geared up and ready to go when I see a nice setup in /sea all. Also, I try my best to befriend any bards that are decent within my level range for further exp down the road. Maybe some people kind of forget being socialable works pretty well, its a lot easier to get a job to 75 when you have a friend or two you can start up a pt with on a whim.

Re: Asking what the party set-up is.

i *always* ask what the party setup is. it's not necessarily because i'm elitist though. the fact is I work full-time and therefore get to exp very little. when I *do* exp, I prefer to make the best of my two hours of time. I would rather get 25k/h at birds than 15k/h at trolls y'know? who wouldn't? that's just my rationale to it. if the party setup just isn't cutting it for what I'm looking for (and believe me I settle for crap parties pick-ups on occasion or when very close tnm lol), I generally don't bother going.

i think asking what the party setup is is perfectly viable, especially at low levels. my rule of thumb is always ask for the setup and the area, too. if you're a Lv.34 invited to a party in CN and there's no dispeller in the party, it's not worth your time to go fight those crawlers.

Re: Asking what the party set-up is.

I think some of you expect too much, I've been playing for a very long time and I've only seen a handful of people tell me what jobs they have when asking me to join their party (come to think of it, it was only when I was leveling BRD...)

I always ask {Hello}PT{interest}? never had anyone complain about that, and I probably wouldn't want to group with them if they did. If someone asks what jobs are in the party that's fine, I don't have a problem telling them, because when I get invited by someone I don't know is a competent player I tend to ask what jobs are in the party also.

About nations ranks, I know so many bad players that are rank 10 in 2-3 nations that rank generally means nothing to me, unless it's unreasonable (rank 2 at level 50+)

Something not mentioned in this thread but I've had people be picky about also is player race. I never give half a shit what race someone is, but some people tend to think that the taru WAR with PCC, snipers, etc is worse than the galka WAR with fang necklace, and str rings.

Re: Asking what the party set-up is.

If I am party leader I always send a tell with what I have in the party already, it's something I have always done from my first job to now, especially if we are missing a key job from party and none are seeking at the moment.
