Even tho I like the rule "dont give it to people who you cant hit in the face" I have trusted people with my account info (lolWHM&BRD75) and have peoples account info myself (including 1 Relic weapon (ok ok it's a lolrelicGSword but hey))

I know of people who's account got jacked tho because they trusted the wrong people

I think that the proximity is meant to be a deterrent and not a remedy, no one wants to be smacked upside the face.

tbh, SE doesn't handle stolen accounts well at all. My friend recently got his account hijacked, And the GM "Forgot" to make a list of NPC'd or /Tossed gear when he reported it, make it impossible to recover his relic and YYR, as well as millions of gil.

Among other things, he eventually said that the second GM I spoke to forgot to place my lost items list that was required for the investigation in the queue - so by the time they remembered they could no longer prove I dropped my items. [I advised he contact a [SGM] Did - he said that despite everything, Ailek's "dropping" of said items is no longer proveable. as such..... despite how he "feels for me" nothing can be done so because of some other idgit's laziness - I lose everything. I think my favorite line was this -Me: (paraphrased) Isn't there anything I can do to prove to you that I own a yinyang robe so I can have it returned? (Pictures, other character testimony etc) and he goes "Sure, you can go camp yourself another one... should only take you another 2 years."

Wether or not password is compromised or not [which it wasn't. nothing but windower etc] Square can see what is done and what IP a player logs in from (it was overseas), It's a shame they can't track it better and reverse things that are obviously not from a paying customer.

He DID get his account back, miraculously, but it was raped of everything.

I was unable to get anything done about my old account as well... I sold it last December to a guy I knew for a while in-game, and I asked him in July about maybe him selling it back to me, and I was informed that it had been stolen from him 2 months earlier. He did everything he could to help me get it back via SE, but SE doesn't help for shit. I could provide the CC# the account was opened with, all the original registration codes, the name, Birthday etc. and they wouldn't do shit because the current credit card and address had been changed.

I know it was really my fault for selling the account to begin with but just goes to show how horrible SE is at this kind of thing.


The guy who stole it used it to make AMEMET MANTLES of all fucking things, and it hasn't been used for 3 months, so I'm not sure if it got banned or what.
