I don't mind immigration to this country,and I can even look past a lot of cases of the illegal immigration into this country simply because where they are coming from is about 100x worse than any effect they can have on me in this country.

But what I have a problem is the people who take advantage of our national 'hospitality' by using us to get money by just coming here to have kids, by having more kids to get a higher payout from the government, most of them not paying taxes or contributing anything beneficial to this country.

Hell that's not even a problem solely with illegal immigrants, there are plenty of US citizens that are fucking this country up even worse than they are. Using the welfare system by popping out babies to get a bigger check from the government and making more money in a year that way than most kids straight out of school making 30-40k a year and doing it honestly.

There are two givens for the future of this country, 1) is that it's going to hell because politicians care more about padding their pocket than actually addressing domestic issues and 2) in the next 50 years this country is no longer gonna be america the english speaking country but america the spanish speaking country.

I just hate the double standard that if we, as in americans, go to a foreign country we are absolutely expected to live by their customs and speak their language, but whenever those cocksuckers come here they can't take the small steps to speak english or live by our culture. Learning even broken english is not fucking hard and you could do it in a few months learn enough to get by here even working 15 hours a day. Just spend 30 minutes to an hour listening to a tape, or watching fucking TV even or just trying to talk english to people.

In the areas they're talking about though, mostly you see illegal immigrants working in construction and the like. Not exactly farming country. (my parents live in Manassas)
There's the angle to look at with that as well...immigrants eat, need a place to live, stores to shop at, etc.
In some respects, it's self perpetuating. The extra food/housing/etc is needed because of the immigrants who are providing it.

Honestly though, that's not what usually bugs people. It's walking into Wal Mart and seeing 20% of the shelf space for CDs or DVDs devoted to latino stuff, and Spanish on the PA. Or teachers being required to speak Spanish because the kids coming in don't know enough English to get by in school. There are also zoning laws and things being broken, such as multiple families (or non-relatives) sharing houses that are not supposed to be (I can understand why, but the point is that it's against the laws that are in place).
Not to mention that there are gang/crime issues to go with it all.

Manassas is not a cheap place to live. Most of the locations mentioned there are suburbs for the D.C. area, and have some of the highest average per-capita incomes in the country. That's what's probably odd to people, to see essentially an middle/upper class city start catering towards illegal immigrants.

A lengthy immigration process is no excuse to circumvent the system. Our government has not only a right, but also a responsibility to its legal citizens, to know who is coming into our country. Not all people who immigrate illegally do it simply because the citizenship process takes too long. I'm sure that out of the ~8 million illegal aliens in the country today, we have acquired a substantial number of criminals that would likely have been denied citizen status.

On top of that, allowing illegal immigrants to remain in the country by granting them rights and privileges equal to citizens greatly undermines the naturalization process. Why bother to abide by the law if you can just break it and come out with equal or greater rewards in an equal or lesser amount of time? If you could steal someone's car and avoid being caught in it for 6 years, is the car rightfully yours just because you aren't driving up on the sidewalk hitting pedestrians?

We can't just bring everyone who is suffering into our country and provide for all of them as well. There are simply not enough resources to go around. I would love to be able to just take care of everyone on earth, but the fact of the matter is that we have limitations. There is only so much to go around, and when we're having problems providing proper funding to programs that are designed to take care of our legal, established citizens, I just don't think that it's a smart decision to try to spread what we have even thinner to cover the additional ~500,000 illegal aliens that we are taking on every year.

All of their children and following generations learn to speak and interact in English which softens the blow considerably, since they usually end up translating for parents etc. But yeah, I think it's shitty for anyone to go to any country and think they don't have to learn the popular language and expect everyone to bow to their needs. It pisses me off to no end to see some spanish family dragging their 9 year old daughter everywhere to translate for them instead of letting her just be a kid and taking the initiative to learn. most of these immigrants don't have the time to learn english. the condition they work under doesn't allow them to learn english. try telling factory workers or farmers to learn english and see what they tell you. imagine yourself working a full time 9-5 job and then you have to learn a foreign language.

also, most of the immigrants don't have a good paying job when first they come here because they don't know english. that's why you see so many of these non-english sign stores because it is their only way to start a business without knowing any english. how do you expect them to learn english and take care of their family when they are working in factories or farms with a low paying rate. most of these parents don't really care what the fuck you think about them, they are only here for their children's future.

If you have been here for 7 years, and rely on your kid to speak English for you there is no excuse. If you're a migrant worker and you don't interact in urban society often because you're constantly on the move and working 18 hour days I can see. Working 9-5 and not assimilating? There's no excuse for that. If you live in an urban or suburban area for some time and are only working 9-5 and interacting with English speaking residents on a daily basis, yes I expect you to learn the language and not enslave your children to work that out for you. It's pathetic and there is no excuse for it.

This means they can apply for other jobs and not rely on trying to take advantage of welfare and Medicare.

It also sticks a swift boot up corporate America's ass for getting away with cheap, disposable labor for so long and would ( hopefully ) move to finally correct our economy and lobby-driven policy that benefits Big Corp from lowering wages, benefits, and safety regulations. It's not about giving these people a get out of jail free card, it's about righting wrongs that have been happening for far too long. The problem is we are so reliant on this cheap labor that it will like buckle the economy for a bit since private farmers and the like won't be able to afford paying legal residents what they were formerly paying illegal residents.

Moving away from that for a minute, yes, you should arrest someone who is 20 rungs down on a drug ladder. Breaking a law is breaking a law, period. You can't just ignore the laws that you want and abide by the ones that suit you at the time. The "mainstream" argument against anything like that is that you're giving criminals amnesty and giving motivation to break the law. I think that if we do naturalize them and force them to register with the state so they become documented citizens they just have to pay a set fine, 8 million new taxpayers is enough not to have to make them pay more taxes. A stiff fine for like $1-2000 is substantial yet fair. It's affordable.

The problems with welfare and medicare / medicaid are their own problems that need to be addressed separately.

I guess so, but it didn't happen with alcohol. Weed is also significantly less perception/judgment-altering than alcohol. You can be too drunk to even function, but I've never been so high that I was actually disoriented. Slap some kind of fine/jail time shit on it just like with drunk driving and you have pretty much equal deterrent.
