I wonder if, in 2050, this means there will no longer be affirmative action, and that minorities will no longer be treated differently than majorities (in terms of government). I also wonder if, when minorities account for half the population, they will no longer be called minorities.

And in 2075, when minorities account for over half the population, will white people then be called minorities? And will white people get special treatment?

I guess so, but it didn't happen with alcohol. Weed is also significantly less perception/judgment-altering than alcohol. Untill minorities are proportionatly represented in the senate/white house then white folk don't really much to worry about.

Once 50% of the population are minorities, it's much more likely that minorities will fill the senate. Not necessarily because they'll only vote for their own race, but because the same bias toward white people won't be there. Once more than 50% of the population are minorities, chances are pretty good that minorities will fill the senate and will have the majority.

I couldn't give a fuck where someone is from or what colour they are as long as they have the simple courtesy to learn and have the ability to speak, read and write the native language. If I ever move to a nation that doesn't speak English primarily, you can be damn sure I'll learn their language.

On the other hand, I view all illegal immigrants as somebody else's problem. Namely, their home countries who don't have to change because good ol' USA lets them accumulate there instead. My family is only two generations from the boat, but my grandparents spoke English (one was Irish, so easy- but the others Polish and Italian, not so easy.) fluently...because to be an American and have a way up, you had to. There might not have been laws to make it so, but there wasn't pandering to dozens of languages.

This was America. We speak English. Learn it or you're second-class. I have to deal with folks who can't speak English every week, plenty of them. They point and speak Spanish at me. Or Korean. Sometimes Chinese. Then they get frustrated because I can't provide them help because they can't seem to understand third-grade English.

We're a melting pot, but the result is supposed to be Americans, who came in lawfully, intergrated into the existing system, and enhanced it rather than doing their best to obliterate it. It hit me worst the other week when I went vacationing in the Dakotas. First time in over a decade I didn't see a non-White/Indian face for days on end, or hear anything but English (and a bit of Lakota). Yet amazingly, everyone spoke English and nobody needed a translator.

He has fought to keep it, even though they desperately want to replace him and everyone in his union. He has taken 40% paycuts and continues to work there. (while the CEOs are getting multi-million dollar bonuses every year) NW has recently fired the cleaning crews for their airplanes and replaced them all with Nigerians. Hard working, unionized workers who were willing to keep doing their job after taking 40% paycuts. People who made barely over minimum wage trying to support their families. They definitely wanted those jobs. The jobs now being filled by Nigerians. Unsupervised Nigerians.

Loading and unloading unchecked, unscreened packages onto airplanes.

It's happening everywhere though. My best friend's mother is in danger of losing her job at IBM because theyre beginning to outsource all their employees in her branch. Yes, and I agree with that, but that really doesn't have much to do with what I said. English is not some evil plague that's been forced on the rest of the world. It's a language that, for whatever reason, is the dominant language, and it has become a global standard. People all over the world speak it not to cater to Americans, but to have a common language that can be used to avert (as someone said earlier) a tower of Babel situation. It's like complaining that everyone parks their bazaar in one particular zone instead of just bazaaring in all kinds of random zones.

In America, yes, speaking at least some Spanish, as I said earlier in the thread, is a perfectly reasonable expectation. We have a very large Spanish-speaking population. However, speaking Spanish in Japan means fuck all. Speaking Spanish in Iraq means fuck all. Speaking Spanish in Iceland means fuck all. English is used all over the world. To refuse to learn it for whatever reason, however justified you may think it is, is simply stupid.

The misconception of illegals doing the jobs normal americans dont want to do is such ignorant bullshit. I posted my opinions on this earlier in this thread and I dont want to repeat them too much, but use some common sense when thinking about this stuff; or better yet, apply some economics to everything.

And assuming all illegals are just here purely for their families and for a better life is so ignorant it hurts my brain. If 1% of the illegals coming into this country are here to escape crime history, be leeches in the american system, etc, that's well over 100k people; people with no regard for the law or morality. Add on top of this the potential of 10 people to get into this country through that border and commit a terrorist attack, it's suicidal to continue what is happening. What the fuck kind of sense does it make to allow more of these people to enter the country or better yet, give them amnesty. Just like you would not hire housekeepers that knock on your door and have no credentials/history, we should not be letting tens of millions of illegal people into this country. So many people wonder why our healthcare system is so fucked up as well as some government programs, there is so much data that tracks it back to this huge influx of people coming in to this country - people that are not being budgeted for. Hospitals, especially ones in the southwest US, are closing down left and right. Why? Illegal immigrants are unable to pay their bills.

It would be great to be able to help everybody in the world and accommodate as many as we could, but this is the USA, not a utopia. We can't make everybody happy, and we sure as hell can't continue with this influx of people lest our country be destroyed from the inside out.

True facts: None of the WTC Bombers or 9/11 hijackers entered via the US/Mexico border, let alone floated across the gulf of mexico on a raft. Prior to that, the most successful terrorist attack on U.S. soil was carried out by an American citizen.
