MNKs have access to 2 of the best belts in the game that every other melee wishes to god they could use. Stop acting like you don't have something special. Gear has gotten pretty balanced for melees, everyone has access to something pretty sweet I think.

Edit: As for WAR having too much gear and getting/needing new shit, having WAR on the job list does not 1) make it WAR gear and 2) does not make it useful. Short of movement speed, WAR has it pretty good. Do we get the best of best of everything? No. But nobody can complain that WAR doesnt have access to some damn good gear as well.

No MNK is asking for stuff that will overpower the job. Not like most JSE is designed to do that anyway. If it's not blatantly obvious, MNKs have been stagnant in the game since it's inception. When's the last time MNK got any attention at all, good or bad, via job changes or new gear? Cat 2 merits don't count because everyone got that at the same time. MNK's cat 2 merits are pretty pointless anyhow.

Most MNKs just want something new to look at, even if it's lol town gear like yasha or wise.

BTW if you're gonna call Askar/Ares crap for WAR, I can easily say Usukane is crap too, with exception of MAYBE feet.

And a MNK seem like a second job to you, if you're not on it enough you won't notice what it's "lacking" (reemphasis on just variety, not damage), and that a MNK is boring as shit after playing it wearing the same thing for 3 years.

Usukane is most likely the best armor set for dd'ing on mnk (and other job that can equip it). I wouldnt equip a single pieces of Ares on war, with the exception of pant on WS maybe, but byakko might still give you the best result. Askar head is similar to turban, but still not as good as Aces, rest of the set is horrible for warrior.

There is a lot of crap in salvage gears, but usukane set is not. Byakko haidate are probably better than usu legs alone, but the set give an haste bonus that will make up for it.

Ares's Cuirass is hands down the best body piece for Steel Cyclone. While Ares isn't JSE for warrior it can sure use several pieces for macroing in for SC so saying its horrible for warrior is hardly the case.

Who the hell care about Steel cyclone...seriously? I can't think of a single situation where I would use it outside cerberus (because of those spikes), but almost every job is better than war for this kill. What's so good about that skill?

Steel Cyclone is fun to play around with, but no way in fucking hell I'd pay all that for an ares body when theres adaberk/osode/hectatomb bodies which are a million times easier to obtain and who knows how much cheaper.

What's so good in DRK's JSE? 80%+ dmg taken? Or enhanced Dark Magic spells? Oo Even DRKs don't wear more of it than they have to (which are mostly only legs).

The real problem with WAR is his uselessness in HNM scene - it's pure TP Burn job with additional of Steel Cyclone 300TP fun. From this point of view - Ares is in fact pretty much crap for WAR :/ Nowadays practice in end-game scene moves melees pretty much aside (except maybe lolHydra and funCerberus), especially those that can't secure their TP w/o feeding mob with TP back. SAMs have Meditate, DRKs got Absorb-TP (I know it's crappy and blablablah still) and Souleater madness, MNK can always Chi-Blasting, RNGs always owned end-game scene (pre-nerf or post-nerf or post-unnerf), even THF can be usefull with its spike dmg abbilities.

And as I wrote already and repeat - WAR got tons of stuff and is still getting every update, the problem is - this stuff benefits MORE other jobs that can wear it.

How can you say WAR is gimped when they haven't changed to say the least, and is now enjoying the prime of it's life in TP burns? What about Warrior's Charge?

WAR was enjoying TP Burn way before ToAU in sky or Ule camps. Since ToAU, TP Burn can be enjoyed even by DRG. I wrote above what I mean by saying 'SE nerfs WAR' - if you participate in end-game activity and track job changes in last 1-2 year(s) you should perfectly know what I mean.
And I don't know what bout Warrior's Charge... what bout it?

And speaking of Adaberk and Ridill as the best items for WAR - tell me what is easier obtainable - D Body + BB on MNK or E Body + Ridill on WAR...? Please, it's both pathetic and insulting...

The real problem with WAR is his uselessness in HNM scene

1) They are pretty good in every zerged hnm, and usually the best in tp burned NM. Not as good as drk, but definitively not a waste of space.
2) probably the best melee at lolhydra, and pretty damn good at JoL
3) They own in lollimbus, loldyna. Decent in salvage (not as good as mnk, but rank pretty high ), and own in most assault
4) If you can't tp burn kirin, 3-4 war can kill faster than any army of blm kiting it.
5) If you count merit as endgame, you need to include war

They aren't good at wyrm, khim, and a few more thing, but generally, none of the melee are good there. I'm not sure why you complain about war usefulness...

Yeah, war is at the low end on the soloing ladder, right above brd. However, you can still solo almost anything if you use your brain (I soloed Sandy 8-2 in ugalepih temple for example), but it would be true on every job.
