I think it's safe to say that about almost all modern-day top 40 music. Without de-railing the thread too much, big music has essentially turned a creative art into a money-making formula, and the end result is shitastic bile being pumped out of radios.

I like Jack FM in So. Cal! They play random music and dont have any annoying DJ's (None for that matter!) for me to listen to. :D Plus they play enough Journey to fill my hearts desire..

Ah, Jack FM. How I yearn for ye olden days. Since we're well off-topic, I'll post something from 2 years ago:

Title: The death of Jack

Jack FM was a radio station here in L.A. that I discovered in February of this year. I just happened to stumble across it, and discovered it's brilliance and excellence. Why is Jack FM so wonderful? Well let me tell you. First - no DJ. All they played was music, commercials, and station ID tags. Second (and directly relating to the first) - no requests. No DJ = no requests, and they were proud of it. Third, and most importantly - I'd only heard of maybe 25% of the songs they played, but they were all great. Somehow, this radio station was digging through the music of the past 4 decades, and finding super-obscure fantastic music that has slipped through the cracks. I didn't always know where Jack was taking me, but it was always worth the ride.

However, starting in April or so, I noticed a change in Jack.

I started recognizing more and more songs. Sometimes I would go an hour before I heard something I'd never heard before. Newer and more popular bands were showing up, and it began to worry me.

Then the evil omen arrived: I heard a Creed song on Jack FM.

Fucking Creed. I knew this was the beginning of the end.

Since then it seems to have completely given up on mining gems out of american music history, and now just plays a still random menagerie of music...all too familiar music. However, yesterday afternoon, Jack died. I almost began weeping in my car when I heard the news. Jack...was playing...(it's almost hard to type)...Venessa Carlton.

Hold me Jack...it's so very cold...
