Re: Public opinion: Is dynamis too expensive?

falling currency prices, rapidly multiplying demand for the event due to the ease of gaining 75 in ToAU
In a sense, the latter will forestall the former. The system remains stable simply by having prices for Dynamis currency come up to roughly one run = 1 million + some spare change. I don't think it's going down much more, because the insaitiable need for more currency keeps it stable. The earlier, higher prices were a mark of the general RMT inflation.

It's fine as it is. When my humble social LS can manage a run every week for folks, it's not that expensive in the long run. Sponsor runs yourself, sell off the excess currency to make the money back (and keep a bit for yourself), ???, profit.

Cause that horde of 75's make it an easy method of getting folks to head in. You sponsor run, they get shiny new armor bits and lust after relic weapon/shield/horn, as long as someone's sponsoring new runs everyone ends up happy.

Why lower the price and make relics even easier to get.

Let it stay like it is, 1,000,000G is perfect.

A shortened entry timer will just flood currency into the game and make the current runs less profitable since people always undercut the shit out of each other with everything.

It's not perfect but I think it's fine the way it is.

Hanging on to that last bit of e-peen (assuming you are a relic holder) isn't going to make the fact that there's more upgraded relics by the day. Plus, more relic is generally considered better for the game as a whole, not worse, unless you're whole point of playing FFXI is showing off what nobody else has and make yourself feel that sliver of superiority that you cannot otherwise get in real life.

Regardless of whether dynamis entry price should be dropped or not, SE still needs to introduce simultaneous dynamis instances to reduce congestion.

This is why there is CoP Dynamis and it a smaller extent Einherjar, but obviously neither has been able to become as popular as RotZ Dynamis.

I prefer CoP Dynamis, but apparently 99% of the population of FFXI are against me on this lol.

Re: Public opinion: Is dynamis too expensive?

People are nuts 50-60% of AF2 is garbage, 20% is situational, and the rest is what people actually want. Relics are rare but really who cares if currency becomes more common that still makes them take the challenge of killing hydras and animated weapons and then we still have to except most relic weapons are fairly overrated. It kills me when people complain about any newb starting a Dynamis LS if they lower the cost that's BS you already have that on most servers (that and the bloody elitestism as if you nvr were a newb in dynamis.) 90% of the time they're doing fine because they have craploads of members and farm the easy zones they usually die because of drama, flakes get bored, etc. It's the long running shells that are bored as shit of farming cities to get 250-400 currency that doesn't sell so they can actually do Iceland and CoP zones to get the gear that members have been waiting on for years.

Dynamis is fine as it is

It was introduced when gil was around this same value, and currency back then sold for around the same price too, slightly cheaper even, not to mention people couldnt walk out with as much currency as they could now (less knowledge, gear, merits, etc)

Re: Public opinion: Is dynamis too expensive?

Dynamis is just fine the way it is. Its expensive enough to keep everyone and their mom from cock blocking time slots. And its cheap enough to pay for itself in one way or another. Seriously, if your not doing zones @ cost, your doing something wrong. Id argue that the problem is not on SE's side, its on your side.

I've been running or helped run the same Dynamis aspect of my LS for years now and at the moment we are doing a near perfect job of breaking even at costs, and keeping requested AF rolling in. All zones, including CoP zones are in our agenda. The only loss zones (in terms of gil) are CoP zones. The drop rates on our win runs have been more then excellent, so it justifies the loss. On runs with currency (Cities and Beuc) or system not only pays for themselves, but makes enough profit to pay for the CoP runs.

All this coupled with proper zone planning you can create a break even/profit dynamis system. All that you have to worry about then is zone efficiency. You need to have a solid group with a 95% win ratio to make a good system win. So if you keep losing zones, or keep wiping on farm attempts, then its an issue of your strategy/play skill. Then you need to reevaluate the way you play, not how SE handles dynamis.

I dont mean to sound like an ass by saying this, but lowering the dynamis cost would hurt the more experienced dynamis shells. The shells that have 0 problems with wins/paying for runs/drops. This may sound egotistically but I do not have any major problems with the way my dynamis leg of my shell is run. (Other then me slackin on point updates, but that will be taken care of soon ) That said, the ONLY thing that can hurt me is MORE dynamis shells popping out of no where and stepping on my time slots.

So what does a leader with a near perfect dynamis system think needs fixed? CoP end time. Post boss, we need another 30-45min. 2hrs total farm time would be overkill, but 1h is borderline. In a very good run you can end up missing at least 1-2 sets of nightmare mobs, losing a chance at the specific per mob drops. Tav's Boss also needs to give a chunk of farm time.

We dont need to lower the cost of dynamis.

Skills in dynamis are only going up. Eventually, one hour DLs and the last two hours of Xarc for farming will eventually be the norm.

More Dynamis - ??? slots though would alieviate congestion on more sought after zones (Beaucadine/Xarcabard). As for cost, I say its fine. Like forementioned, shells are gona get good enough to farm for an hour plus eventually.

i think another part of the problem that alleya might have had in mind was regarding the constant gil drain from the economy. add up the 2 mill drained out of the economy by every shell that does dynamis, and there's a huge amount of gil leaving the economy that's not returning fast enough. eventually, dynamis will be to expensive for everyone

It's not just Dynamis... it's Dynamis + GS Bans (+other stuff, but those two are the biggest). There needs to be more methods to get gil into the game. I've always thought crafters being able to sell(NPC) their own crafting results for more gil than usual would be a great way to do it. Would GS be able to tap into such new methods that introduce gil? Yes, but they get banned and we reap the benefits.

People overlook that most NMs DO drop gil.

Tarasque for example drops 27k + skins worth about 100k every time you kill him. Lindwurm / TT same gil amount about, and that's just all in same relative area in IC and you can kill all 3 in 2-3 hours easy.

There's plenty of mobs that drop enough gil to make farming them a good source of gil, but I'd love to be able to NPC some 90+ NQs for more than 2k gil.

Re: Public opinion: Is dynamis too expensive?

The price is completely fine. The drop rate could use a minor tweak in my opinion, but not the price. As has been mentioned you can do Dynamis runs at cost if you plan carefully enough, so the only people who should end up paying larges sums of money are people who suck and can't manage to pull enough currency from a city zone to stay afloat, or relic upgraders themselves (and rightfully so).

Except the game doesn't revolve you, or the more "experienced" linkshells (whatever that means).

Just as they lowered the difficulty of CoP and taking away the (supposed) accomplishment of others, they will do whatever it takes to keep the player base going and interested; and I'm for that. If it means lowering the cost of Dynamis to put more people in there, then so be it. If the million gil pricetag is perfect from a development standpoint, and doesn't hurt the player, then keep it as-is.

SE already said they liked Dynamis' price. I wouldn't be surprised if they did expect us only to do one run a week.

Wait, why haven't they fixed kings yet?

Ya actually Im pretty sure they keep the top tiered end game players in mind for the top tiered end game content.
