    Ephramadian Shade Camps

I searched on BG and the only two things that came up was the random question thread (didn't see where said camp was located) and the runic portal thread - again lacking any positions or definitive areas of where to find them. I apologize in advance in the event that I may of missed it, or that asking about this place is << somehow taboo, however I was curious of where exactly they are. FFXIclopedia says there's 20 spawns in the mire, and 8 in the reef. If anybody has exped on these and knows of decent camp areas for them I'd greatly appreciate it. I heard they were good exp for 66-68, what exactly makes them good? Low hp than normal mobs, less crowded, lower attack? My PT is coming up fast on this section of leveling and our options are fairly slim and usually overcamped, and I really hate the mindset "hey lets go to TAU, there may be 5 pts there already but we can still squeeze out 5k/hr easy". I'd rather 5k/hr max with no stress of pulling and fighting with merit parties who are spamming their chains, only to have my PT come in and break them b/c we want gimped exp.

I'm just interested in exp without screwing up others chains in areas I really shouldn't be in yet. Anyways, thanks in advance for help assistance I may get ^^ - also any good non-tau camp suggestions are perfectly fine, I know of most of them and at times we PT they seem to be camped too.

West of Dvucca, right outside the Arrapago Reef zone for the Black Coffin BC. The best spot to camp for us was always east of the Pond near the tunnel you take to get there from the staging point. Right at the mouth of the tunnel.

You can level here from 68/67 - 72 (though the exp is seriously diminished at 72, if you can chain and have a bard puller, it's sitll not bad, definitely better than competing for campspace).

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

I would only recommend a strong party capable of securing/crowd controlling the camp area since there aren't too many safe spots. Despite being undead, the Shades seem to have decent resistance to Lullaby and Light Shot. Black magic Sleep is no picnic either, but it'll stick with Elemental Seal. Bind and Gravity work fine. Their sound aggro range is incredibly small, they won't aggro unless you collide with them. Their blood and JA/WS detection radius is large.

Carnal Nightmare prevents it from being any sort of infinite-chain camp but it's certainly better than dealing with a crowded spot. Most direct route is Nyzul Isle -> Arrapago Remnants -> west portal -> zone out. You can also walk SW from the Dvucca staging point.

Tried here once, but I think we were too low. BRDX2, NINX2, THF, WHM 65-67. We got our asses handed to us promptly in that camp - one BRD dc'ing didn't help much. My kinda gimpy 66 BRD was about 0/25 on lullaby/hoarde lullaby with light staff, no mary's horn. I hate this level range.

Loren's directions are spot on. This camp was great as BRD, my party went through them like butter. Add a Jnun or two for when you've cleared the camp and you pretty much fly to 72.

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

Thanks a lot for the fast responses, since they're fomor class don't they resist lullaby? I recall fomors being opposite of most undead and can be slept, though this is TAU so they may be different. And << most BLMs I get in PT's nowadays are hella-bitter about TAU... and never stop complaining. But thanks a lot for the replies, would a PT be able to move almost directly from arrapago reef to the mire once the reef exp dropped?

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

if you mean from the shades / fall imperials inside arrapago - yes. the mobs in there arent much different from the shades outside except for different crystal drops iirc. Problem is definately crowd control at fomor based camps because a brd is completely at the mercy of the link you might or might not get.

Exp is good though, and uncontested. Fomor are easy surprisingly.

Anyone have any tips about the Ziz Camp?

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

ziz camp is good with decent mages. We had a retarded mnk who refused to sub nin and was tanking the whole time because he was 67 and the nin was 64 i think. NIN was hitting for 2-5dmg(taru) and the mnk just destroyed it. Cerb popped so i left quickly, but the xp wasnt bad per kill. The WHMs MP started to get raped, with an ideal setup this camp would be pretty good, plus you have a couple birds to keep chains going

You can also pull down the mamools from above your head (not the mirror guards durr) if you run out of Ziz and colibri, or if you'd rather not mix in colibri so that your NIN doesn't regularly lose food. Two of the mamool could potentially aggro party members depending on where you stand. I've used this camp a few times, and it's decent. Make sure your WHM isn't stupid, of course.

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

At the Ziz camp attentive mages are definitely a plus, I've leveled there on 2 jobs, and done quite well. Sucks when Zizzy Zillah spawns because it's basically one less XP mob spawn in the camp, and if you XP there for more than 90 min he Will spawn, forcing you to pull more pugil or lose chains, a good PT can clear the area without much trouble waiting for repops.

I'm thinking about camping at or near the "drink" at k-10. That should avoid the Zilly problem. Has anyone used there?

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

I have camped there before. There are a couple true sight Mamool's south of the tunnel in the bottom left corner of J-10 that you will want to avoid of course. If you run out of Ziz you can pull T-VT Jagil's out of the stream to North of the camp around J/K-9. I believe I leveled my RNG from 66 to 69 almost exclusively at that camp, I really enjoyed it.

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

Partied there last night, good times. lots of ziz and mamool if you want. Colibri as well.
EXP @ lvl 68 was good, but it's probably even better around 66 or so.

Just dont pull the Mamool Ja Mirror guards lol >.>

Another camp at H/J 9 works well also.

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

Just recently hit 75 on NIN and the Shade camp was the best exp I got between 64-70. Imp camps sucked because they were either overcrowded or I was in a noobsville pt with SMNs who refused to cure or silena or anything therefore making me -exp everytime I went out -.- Shades were incredibly fast exp if you have a BRD and a GOOD RDM healer along with a NIN and some strong DDs. Need an on the ball healer as they can do some nasty moves that do 700+ dmg to a NIN easily but they usually die so quickly if you have DDs like RNG in the pt. Camp at the zone to the Reef at Dvucca Isle SP. The BRD has a bit of a run to the mobs at the end of the chain but its worth it.

Not sure why people say they had hard time dealing with add. There is many camp with a single add, and almost every job can tank them fine. Just have a 2nd melee voke them, and put defender on in worst case (or shadow/3rd eye). Unless your party takes 15min to kills one, it shouldnt be an issue.

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

The only troublesome fomor are the rdms anyways, since sometimes they have alot of buffs on themselves. other than that - its np pulling and killing them. Bind links or just outrun them, not like shades last long anyways.

    Re: Ephramadian Shade Camps

This camp is silly because even when there are 6-7 parties in Zhayolm there is always room. You can infinite chain Eruca at 67-69 in Zhayolm for nearly 20k/hr, and it only tapers off at 70. When you get to 70, you exp in merit camps, and if you're a mage, you actually exp with merit parties (RDM WHM BRD). 72 for melees in merit parties unfortunately.

I tried the camp, the mobs die fast but it doesn't work with BRD BRD RDM and 3 melee, because of the constant drown, the aoes, and lullaby resistance, can't pull ahead of time and just sleep it.
