He has applied to my linkshell, Any feedback you can provide would be appreciated. What is he like? Attitude/behavior etc.

No one ever heard of this guy? Shukudai his real in game name?
Left my LS because he didn't get RDM AF2 hat.
(He was nice to wait until after DL, though <.<)
his history pretty much goes something like...
Joins Frenzy with friends or w/e, he seemed to know the officers well, eventually he was accepted into FM (top LS on the server) and left them. After a few months in FM and getting lots of shit, he gets mad over not being allowed to lot on a rdm hat, and leaves. Goes back to Frenzy after a bit (don't remember how long inbetween) and eventually left them again later for idk what reason, currently he has no LS.
I'm sure someone in Frenzy can give a better view on him though, since I don't know him all that well.
Julian has a bit of his history wrong. Shuk was a member of Frenzy under our original leader, Paigne. Paigne was a nice enough guy, but kinda wanted every single drop. Thus, after an argument between the two (which I was not on for), Shuk left. A few months later, he showed up in FM (to the best of my knowledge, he did not leave us for FM, he just went to another LS.)
After he left FM, over RDM AF2 he toiled around for a few months, then came back to us. Things were cool for a bit, but another argument ensued with leadership (this time basically on his dislike towards one officer in particular, never quite understood what that was about), and was unfortunately kicked. To be quite honest, there were other issues going on as well.
Shuk is a nice guy, I like talking to him and the like. Skilled at his jobs too. The thing that seems to get him in trouble is his mouth. Maybe on a new server, with a chance to start anew, it would be a good fit for him.
The original reason I rejoined Frenzy was my RL friend who said "Come back! We'll play together and have fun!" who then promptly quit like 1 month later due to hating FFXI drama >_> Original reason I left, way back in like 2004 was horrible, horrible leader, and *alot* of people left from that time. Leader grabbed first Togi, first Ridill, and the application process was "Hey guys, do you like him?" in /l, regardless of how many people were on /l
To clarify as to what I receive/time put in, from FM: 1/5 Zenith (Hands), 4/5 Crimson (all but head), 3/5 RDM AF2 (feet/hands/body), SMN AF2 horn, Voyager Sallet, Swift Belt, Nobles Tunic, a Behemoth Tongue from AFKing after KS99 since everyone else had passed, in about 6~ months. During those 6 months, about all I missed was 1 sea farm, 1 Dynamis-Bastok, and a few odd hour's king camps, and a Soboro run (most of the stuff I missed was due to sleeping) If there was anything else, I forgot, or it's not in my MH/ML/Storage. FM at that point really did alot of events (I believe 5 days a week scheduled events + kings/wyrms), and a ton of Tiamats, especially stuff that was like "I'll be asleep, wake me up on vent if Tiamat pops" then being woken up at 3AM >_> I don't think anyone will say I didn't earn what I was given, and I did go emo over the hat, which I regret because I wasn't thinking straight at all. but the past is in the past, previous members had told me to quit being emo and re-app, but I don't think it would've been a good fit. I don't think Juliano would be the best person to comment on me from FM, I barely knew/talked to him, and there's stupid drama between him and Frenzy as well. Lordender or maybe Tyche (both post here, under those names I believe) can give the most unbiased view I believe.
Meepein was one of the people I would've given for reference from Frenzy, and I hope he doesn't get in trouble for speaking his mind publicly. When I told Elipse I could give "hopefully unbiased" references, and said pretty much what I thought he would ^^ My biggest flaw is indeed my mouth, if an ass decides to take cheap shots at me, despite all my hard work and effort, and when I keep being polite, eventually they're gonna get an earful. I doubt either of the main shells I was in will say that I don't work my ass off, and attend events to the best of my abilities.
If you want more details Elipse on how that went down, just PM me, I saved a log the forum postings when I got the boot, just so I didn't look like a total retard if I applied else whereTypical LS drama. The FM thing was 90% my bad, and I do look like an ass from it. There's a bit more to it than has been said here, but i'd rather PM it to you than post it publicly. Upon leaving both LS, I never spread any drama publicly, and told even few friends why I left or was booted, as it was not really their concern. All the above is pretty much my worst drama in 3 1/2 - 4 years of playing.
[edit]If any Frenzy members want to say something positive, i'd PM it to Elipse rather than post it here ^^
Shukudai is a very skilled player, no doubt about that. Tons of jobs at 75, works hard and will continue to work hard for you if you reward him. I think his expectation is that if he puts forth the effort, he expects to be rewarded at some point. I mean, isn't that what attending events and working towards "X" item is all about?
He'll drop what he's doing to help others and his linkshell mates though. If you give him a chance, and the opportunity, he'll definitely produce results with any of his 75 jobs, which he has considerable.
All I did was give a basic summary since no one else was posting <_<
Question does become someones expectation of "work vs reward" like how much work = how much reward. Players also sometimes have a tendancy to think that because they do more, they deserve more, in terms of leneancy of rules, attitude/behavior. A level of "entitlement" so to speak.Originally Posted by Zansho
So what I'm getting at is, were his expectations and attitude within the confines of the LS and reasonable or would your opinion be that they were a bit unreasonable.
If you need an example to play with...
Lets say 2 players
Shukudai and Player X
Shukudai has 100 pts and 1500 pts history ever earned in the shell. Lets say this is a year from now and hes worked hard all year.
Player X shows up and also has 100 points but thats it, 100 points ever earned cause hes new this month.
Now they both one the same item and it costs 100 points. Is shukudai the type to be like "Fuck that, I deserve it cause I've been here forever working my ass of every day WTF!?" or the type to be like "Thats cool, we both have the points lets cast lots"
Thats just a simple example. Also if anyone has the time, I wouldn't mind hearing what happened with the RDM AF hat. I'm sure I'll get shukudai's opinion of the story but I'd love to hear another opinion if possible.
Thank you everyone ^^
I personally think his expectations were within the confines of the linkshell.
I think he has a bit of a situation where, having all these mage jobs and coming to many linkshell events as a RDM primarily, and sometimes asked to switch jobs 3-4x per event, he wanted stuff for his melee jobs as well. I personally think he wouldn't have a problem passing an important item for a person who can make the most use of it, regardless if he has the job leveled. For example, the linkshell's main tank needs a Hauteclaire. Shuk also has a 75 PLD, but he mainly comes to events as a RDM and while he would have a use for the Haute for his pld, he'd recognize the value of the Hauteclaire on the "main tank."
Now, there comes the question of though, when he puts in a lot of work into the linkshell, and has yet to be allowed to lot on anything for his melee jobs. I think this is where the main issue is. He wants to be able (after contributing hard work and attending events and earning points) to be able to lot things on equal footing as anyone else. I think this is where you are coming from as well, Elipse. The scenario you portray is essentially "ok, both members have equal points, have equal chance, therefore let both of them lot and let the /random generator decide the deal." However, you'd also have to take into account the loyalty of the said members, correct?
Let's face it, /point system (where the officer points to a person in the linkshell to lot an item) as opposed to *points* system (earning points for attending events, contributing positively) just fails sometimes because as much as we'd like to trust our officers to be unbiased, they're human, so there will be some small bias regarding who lots what.
I'll say this much though. If you give him a chance, he definitely won't disappoint you skill wise, and I know he'll be an extremely hard worker. The man eats, lives, and breathes FFXI, for God's sake XD.
i'll pm you the story, i was there when it happened.
was a very dedicated member until the rdm af2 hat thing. Even though he had every intention of leaving the linkshell after that he made an effort to stay and chainspell stun DL for us, because he knew we were counting on him. Being able to stay after clearly being that unhappy should say something about his character. Best of luck shuk.
