    Re: Time consumption in WoW?

Ya the unwritten rule of exchanging buffs, I learned about that early on when I started.

I will agree with Setsuko though, in PvP Arena especially 2v2 Warlock takes an immense amount of skill. Especially when you are going against another team with a warlock or a paladin. At BlizzCon I roomed with my friend in Nightmare's Asylum and some other guys in high end raiding guilds and one of them was in the 2v2 Finals and actually got sponsored at BlizzCon for 40k a year just to play WoW. He was so pumped and we had beers it was cool. Anyway, talking with him I learned alot. Like how Warlock/Paladin is one of if not the best 2v2 setups. He would explain how he'd Drain Mana the other warlocks and/or kite stuff. You have to understand in warlocks are pretty soft so you need to stay alive and outlast the opponent. It was really cool to hear his strategies and see him beat other people. But ya... Warlock takes skill in the right setting. Of course Warlocks are going to excel in BGs and such because they can instant dot a bunch of targets, big woop. But in a controlled setting like Arena Warlock takes a whole different kind of skill. Curse of Recklessness becomes your #1 Curse in most cases and Drain Mana saves your ass.

After putting up with the entire grind of FFXI (everything is a struggle...), I'm so far liking WoW haha. I'm just level 19 atm, but it's been nice making good money and levelling at the same time.[/quote]

you'll find that WoW is very different, and very easy by comparison (in terms of gear/solo exp(party exp started to get real good around the time I left FFXI, though I was still a PLD/and most importantly getting gearmost of it anyway)

just..you'll have to get used to the idea of people bailing on parties after 10 minutes of searching because that's just unreasonable to them (if you're on a small server like me anyway)

right, but generally speaking it's not the dungeon that's hard, it's the lack of attention and intelligence from either a few, or more likely, a bunch of people in the raid group (at least in my experience)

but eh, i'm not exactly in the #1 raiding guild on my server so I suppose i can't be too surprised

Raiding is the same as FFXI, the more people, the longer it takes and the larger lack of attention spans. The longer the raid this also applies for too. A 5man with a few friends you know can go really quick and easy. But a 10man takes longer and sucks more, and a 25man even more. Just like we can do the dyna xarc NM's quick and painless with 8 people, but if we do the zone with a group of 30-45 then it takes lots of grueling mind numbing hours.

WoW group battle system pacing is a lot different then FFXI's. Having to get used to having only a span of a few seconds to do everything, because of how fast everything can be casted and monsters can be killed. Seems like complete chaos at breakneck pace the first few times.

    Correction:
If you can follow directions mindlessly and hit the correct button and watch Threat Meters raiding is in fact "easy" !

It's the dumbfucks that don't do shit correctly that fucks shit up... Except when you have fights that aren't in your control (*COUGH* PRINCE *COUGH COUGH*) But even that fight is easy once you figure out where to stand.

I think you are confusing 'easy' with 'controllable.' Once a fight is properly learned and everything that can go wrong is under control, bosses fall over and you collect your loot. But this is no different than FFXI. It's still not easy because bosses will one-shot a careless raid. The only hard part about fights in WoW are the learning pains and occasional boss bugs. Compare that to the 'hard' parts of FFXI endgame (yay staring at Darters for 3 hours!).

WoW does pretty good job of scaling your monetary needs with the level you're at. Wind Crystal and Beehive Chips stay the same from 1 to 75 on FFXI. WoW, you kill a skeleton at level 5, it drops maybe 10 copper worth of crap. Level 10 it might drop a full silver and some 5-10 silver special gear. Level 20 you could end up with 3 silver just in vendor crap, then factor in stuff that AHs for 10-20 silver, or 1 or 2 gold if you're lucky.

Anyone who begs for gil on WoW deserves a good slapping, because the game provides so long as you don't go and spend all your money on Gnome porn after levelling up.

It's refreshing, actually; money raising in FFXI was a huge pain (and often heavily luck based).

The raiding thing is nice though; it's all instanced. Yes, all the killing comes from skill, but that's how it should be... it can suck with more people, since there's more room for bad people, but that's true of FFXI. I'll just be glad to never have to camp again
