Treasure chests available before engaging Ultima

Last Ultima yielded us a chest with coins and MNK+WHM af+1 items, it was from the beastmen set.

Well, now it makes sense: we have extremely bad luck when it comes to picking chests as we've almost never selected the coins-only one.

Maybe not every group has the BLM power. Killing in 10 minutes will require at least 4 good BLM,
a RDM for Haste/Refresh, a good Tank and a Bard or 2.
Many people do not have the experience with Ultima yet too probably.

There is nothing wrong with slow and steady.... I mean unless you really wanna get back to standing around whitegate shouting for more khroma ores, before getting bored and playing wii.

be funny if the chests/certain mobs from chests weakened ultima (buster), doubt it but, we never touched the chests........

at a minimum, it sounds to me like it would be worth trying to open the beastmen chest, since you have a 1/4 chance of free coins and items. beasts chest isn't too bad either since none of the mobs in there are too violent and there's a decent chance of getting the "right" chest. avatar chests sound best left alone if time/manpower is limited due to only having a 1/7 chance of surrendering without a fight and the danger of flow.

Just pull avatar in previous room, pro/shell/bar your tank and nuke it from above. Go down fast, and your tank should survive. Seen them die once, and that was healer fault.

First time my linkshell dedcided to open these chests, we opened 3 consecutive chests with coins and 2 materials each. Haven't gotten a coins + materials chest from Ultima ever since then. Just mobs.

Hmm never knew what those chest even contain till now, Proto Ultima has been a joke and very easy to my shell now, got it lock, I think ill toss that idea to my LS next time cause we do have alot of time remaining when we win
