Fight system looks broken as hell if those are supposed to be boss fights. I'll probably pick it up though.

Figured I'd touch up on this since I actually started playing Eternal Sonata. The boss fights I posted were from the User's second playthrough. In the second playthrough you can change the Party level whenever and I'm assuming (since I'm Party level 4) that at 6 you can unleash 6 Harmonic Chains. So far I'm about 14 hours into it and loving every bit of it. Some of the areas I had to just stop for a minute to take them in because they looked so amazing (Chorus Plains were like that when I finally got there).

You can hold the special button down while attacking, and when your timer runs to 0, it'll automatically use the ability too.

That appears to be what I'm doing wrong. Typically, I would just smash the attack button as much as I could until the timer hit zero and I would hit the special. Thanks for the tip.

It is pretty short for an rpg. I'm at the last boss clocking 26ish hours but I have yet to do the optional dungeon and I didn't grind as much as I usually do. There's also the Encore mode which is just the main game on a second playthrough where the enemies are way tougher. The videos I posted in the original post were from the guys second playthrough as well. It's still a pretty cool game regardless of the completion time. I'd give it my vote to anyone asking about it.

ya.. game looks beautiful and that's almost a good enough reason to pick it up (for me). Is the story good.. does it have plot twists and stuff or pretty basic and the fighting/graphics is what keeps u entertained?

I think it's kind of like Blue Dragon.. decent RPG without any twists or anything like that, but an okay story.

Nikkei picked the game up a few days ago, and we've been playing it pretty hardcore since then. Graphically, its a beautiful game, while the gameplay reminds me of a Tales / Star Ocean type game. The story is cute, nothing serious and predictable, but still entertaining. Overall, I've really enjoyed it.

Oh man I'm glad I saw this thread again. After my last post I just stopped playing and completely forgot about Eternal Sonata. Looks like I'm gonna have to start over or something because I can barely remember anything story-wise.

Didnt they announce Star ocean would be multiplatform already? Thought they did. Tales game was not announced yet, but it wouldnt be surprising if it was on both console like most game.

The Star Ocean multi-platform thing was a misleading rumor on a JP site, that some people saw and took as fact.

RPGFan posted a story about a possible "slip" about the latest tales game, Tales of Vesperia, being multiplatform.

I made Xavier play it (Eternal Sonata) for like 20hours between 3 days because it's an amazingly fun game. Definitely play it if you have it or pick it up. >O

And yeah ES is a great game. I played it twice including all side quests etc., really entertaining game. (and omg Salsa is the best character ever in battle AND in cutscenes, mirite? )

Salsa is amazing, her and Viola are easily my favorite characters in the game, Xavier plays Jazz all the time. =x At first we were just taking turns with the controller but we figured out you can have different people control different characters during battles. Although, we shit talk to each other even though we're on the same side so.... >_>
